The playground has swings for different age groups and abilities. My kids enjoyed going down the slides, the rope- and rock-climbing structures, musical elements, and spinning structure. There's plenty of shade over the playground and benches for parents. The newly opened splash pad was a hit with my kids. Plenty of shaded seating for parents and bathrooms are nearby. Don't forget to pack snacks for the kids (please clean up after your family), sunscreen and reusable water bottles. Not as crowded before 12 pm.

This recreation center has been the only place where kids could come and have a playground or any sort of organized activities. They have the only remaining Tiny Tot program for 3/4 kids since Apollo Beach discontinued it some years ago. The playground has been expanded and combined to a single mulched area now fenced to keep out the stray dogs of the past and the modern new indoor gym for basketball leagues also. Many programs offered range from preschool to senior level. They offer basketball leagues for seniors, teens, youth, and yoga available as well as weight room and after school camps.

(From March, 2022)…read more Never crossed my mind that this would be considered a park as it's more of an art exhibit from the outskirts of it. It's small but has some statues, a water fountain, and artwork that will make you turn your head when you walk past it. As you walk past, you might as well take a turn into it and explore. You'll probably get through it in 10 minutes but it makes you appreciate how cool of a city Tampa is. For the most part it was clean but there's some gum on the ground. Watch your steps here!

The recreation area & housing projects formerly known as Central Park Village are well known in and a major part of Tampa's archives now & then. Take a look at the "Lifetiles" along the park's wall of Black History and near the grassy field that was once a world renowned American skatepark developed in the 70's called The Bro Bowl. The park is about 11 acres yet spacious enough for dogwalkers, skaters, & fitness officianados. Some of the happenings that have taken place include: The Tampa Bay Veg Fest, BBQ Love Fest, The Fight Wright Foundation's Annual 5k Walk/Festival by (Dr. Vondalyn Wright) a survivor & true pioneer of the former Central Park Village. An annual Easter Eggstravaganza sponsored by 1828 Entertainment (Marlon Wright). A host of vendor & market events have taken place at the park as well. *There are local businesses near on the east end (off from the park). ***One interesting note in particular is that the cross street from Central Avenue is titled "Ray Charles Boulevard". Named for his connection to the city within Tampa's Rhythm + Blues music scene and apparently the HeyDays of (R+B) in the early 1950-60's & 70's. *This area was once titled Central Park Village. The park also has a water sprout or splash pad for kids as well as a picnic area. Come take a look at the giant musician statues, murals & more. Parking is free and just in front of the shaded table area.

Dianne turned my 2 year old daughter into a little self rescuing pro in 6 weeks! We are so glad we…read morewent to Cutri Swim Academy's ISR class to teach our little girl to swim. She liked the water, but only on her own terms. Now she can float on her back, and kick her way all around the pool for several minutes. She loves doing if now too. We feel much better knowing that she is much safer around water now. It can be hard on you and your child at first, but you will not be disappointed with the end results of the ISR class.

We arrived slightly late and instead did the trail and had some delicious BBQ from Mr. Blake. The redish-brick tanning of the river / stream is quite lovely. Bring suncsreen, bug spray and plenty of water. We went in June and enjoyed a serene 2 hour visit.

Came to Lithia Springs a couple times this week one for their nature hike which was very clear of…read moredebris easy to walk through. Also we learned that they open at 8am & the spring doesn't open until 9am so when we went today, we were the first to go in. The water was very clear and calm. We saw some fish swimming around the spring and a couple ducks that were hanging out in the water. It was so peaceful until it started getting packed then we decided to leave. But not bad for being local.
