Beautiful view from the front and we loved the village of Alma. Location to Fundy National Park (literal minutes), Hopewell Rocks (30 minutes) and the restaurants/brewery of Alma (5 minute walk) made it ideal for exploring the area. Very nice to have it be dog friendly- the dog would've loved to spend the whole trip laying outside, watching the ride and the village. Would definitely come back and stay longer in the future- kitchen set up made it possible to prepare food. Great price- four adults loved our stay!

We were in the third cottage, where electricity main entered our building and a massive electrical main situated in the lower bedroom. No other cottages had this, which suggests that underground wiring supports the others. The cottages are cozy and we opted for the lower bedroom as it is closest to the only bathroom. Our cottage could use some work but given the late season visit and the lack of options, it was perfect. The owners were also quite nice. Like I said, it's quaint but it's a good spot to rest your head and watch the tides from a ridge. Oh, they have wifi. It's not advertised on their website so do ask.

We found it on purpleroofs.com and we were very lucky to have discovered it. We were visiting my partner's nephew who was working on an organic farm on PEI for the summer and our stay at Maple Hill was an added and unexpected pleasure. We had never been to PEI before and did not know what to expect. Mike and Paul are the proprietors and they could not have done more to make our visit more perfect. Their guest house is nestled on the side of a wonderfully landscaped hill with expansive and private views of the green and plush countryside. We stayed in a beautifully converted barn that was spacious, decorated and incredibly comfortable. Their flower garden is absolutely stunning (Paul is a landscape architect) and the "Pidgeonnair" (a little room house located on a private end of the farm) was great for yoga, meditation or just relaxing in a private area. They actually farm and have several cows so the experience was absolutely complete. Breakfast was superb and we had a traditional lobster dinner (the other choice was a harvest farm dinner), that could not be beat. We also enjoyed their company and they even invited us to a concert in a nearby town (in an old church), which just made the trip all the more complete. Stunning, spectacular, fun, quiet, peaceful, beautiful and everything in between. I highly, highly recommend Maple Hill Guest House not only when visiting PEI but also as a destination. Mike and Paul have got it down. We look forward to going back and repeating our incredible experience. Really a true find!!!!!

LOVE love LOVED the Planter's Barracks Bed & Breakfast. From the lovely and informative manager,…read moreErin, to the doll of a housekeeper, Bee, this place was a hit from start to finish! Originally Fort Hughes, the barracks were built in 1778 as rest quarters for the military during the war. Although we visited in the fall (late October) and it was far too cold to enjoy the yard, fire pit, or deck - the grounds are absolutely beautiful. There are six suites here each with a private washroom and shower or tub. Every room has a different feel with a slightly different layout. Each room has an electric fireplace fit into where the original fireplaces were. Of course there are some odd nuances here like sloping or creaky floors - however, I love it all! Erin is a gem! She's bursting with knowledge and history on the barracks as well as the local area. Ask her for a suggestion or idea, she won't let you down! Um and hello, how did I almost forget the amazing food?!?! With a focus on local, everything from the morning coffee (Just Us Coffee) to the produce, you are in for a gourmet and elegant treat! The breakfast was among if not the best I've ever had on vacation. The yogurt parfait was to die for. The cottage cheese frittata was light and fluffy like a dream! Of course, everyday is different. Also, upstairs there is a small communal kitchen with freshly baked muffins, coffee, tea, sweets and a fridge to chill your local wine or keep your gelato frozen until late night treat time. Everything you need is right there from a corkscrew to red or white wineglasses. Planter's Barracks has really thought of it all. Even the complimentary toiletries are earth friendly. I could go on and on. But really, check out their website or give Erin a call to find out more! You won't be disappointed. I only wish we could have changed our flights and stayed longer! https://plantersbarracks.com

Erin is, hands down, the most friendly, gracious and helpful innkeeper I've ever experienced. I stayed in a number of B&Bs and high end hotels and resorts while touring PEI and Nova Scotia. This place was my favorite and the place I have the fondest memories of.

This place is as good as it gets…read more There are 4 rooms in a converted barn attached to the original house. We stayed in the room named the Tuscany Suite, which is the one room on the second floor. The room was clean, airy, and nicely appointed. The bed was plenty roomy and comfortable. The bathroom is a converted sauna with modern fixtures. The shower is in a curtained stall just outside the bathroom. It looks a little odd standing there, but it serves its purpose quite well. The hosts of the Parrsboro Mansion Inn, Sabine and Christian, are second to none when it comes to hospitality. They are extremely social and certainly have the personalities to run a B&B. I can't say that for all B&B owners. As an aside, if you would like to exercise your German speaking skills, chatting with the owners in their native language is an option. I nearly failed German in college, so I was not able to take advantage of that option. Our stay was short and we did not get to experience the outdoor heated pool, but I can attest that it's there and open (Our visit was in mid June 2016). Breakfast was a cold buffet with breads, cheeses, meats, and eggs, as well as juice and coffee. It's just what you need to get you back on the road. With Sabine and Christian running this place, you can't miss by staying here.

Both Sabine and Christian are friendly, informative and interesting to talk with. We enjoyed their company. My sister and I were there for 5 nights and we felt we could stay even longer. Next time we will take advantage of the massage and spa services offered by Sabine. We loved our stay and will return.
