Fast service and nice location. Grilled Shrimp to all of our liking, had way too much charcoal taste.

Just ate dinner there for the first time. The grilled salmon was delicious! The service was excellent. I would definitely return.

I took my family to N. Topsail Island last (2011) summer. We read about this place on Yelp and let our GPS guide us. Being from SE Tennessee and understanding how "meat and threes" list their menu on a dry erase board, you can imagine how excited I was to see that Riverview Cafe used a similar method to display portions of their menu. It had to be good, right? Our group had everything from the whole flounder (which was awesome) to fried shrimp. Everything was fresh and well prepared. The hasnbrowns were incredible. Riverview specializes in seafood and it has quite an extensive menu. The restaurant also has a large whiteboard with unlisted specials and other items. I love the fried seafood which is lightly battered. However in addition they have other entrées on the menu for the non-seafood lover. You should save room for dessert because their pies are homemade and wonderful. In addition, the restaurant has several Picture windows overlooking the waterway. Is an excellent selection for down-home comfort food but also much more. read more

We've been here a couple times. Both times service was great, hush puppies were on point, and fried seafood was delicious. It's a little pricey but you get a good sized portion. Their pies look amazing but we're always too full to try a slice! We'll be back! read more

Riverview is the go to Seafood Resturant at the Beach. It's in Sneads Ferry so you have to leave and go over the high rise north. The seafood is always fresh and local. Lived here many years it's out lasted them all. Anyone ask me where to go I say Riverview it's not cheap but to me it's worth it. read more

Fresh seafood, canned veggies, and southern sweet tea! Hit the spot! The prices were very reasonable compared to comparable quality meals in the Wrightsville Beach area (about 50 mi South). The hush puppies were brought out a soon as we were seated and were piping hot. I ordered the broiled flounder and shrimp with a deviled crab. The flounder filets (2 full filets) and the shrimp had great flavor. The deviled crab was delicious, but it wasn't much bigger than a silver dollar. For my sides, I ordered green beans and cole slaw. The view lived up to the name and the food was good. The service was slower than we expected and we initially wrote it off as being just busy but the crowd dropped off fast while we were there. The food though was very good. I had tilapia, shrimp and a deviled crab with green limas and mac & cheese. The shrimp tasted fresh and the batter was so light you could see the orange on the shrimp and the seasoning was added with a light hand. All good as far as I was concerned. The fish was similarly coated. I also had a scallop from the plate of another member of the party and it was the best I've had in a long time. And the pies are tasty. read more

Excellent grilled salmon! Wow! And even though I don't eat them, apparently the hush puppies are incredible according to family members dining with me. I don't think you can get a bad meal here. This place is great! Keep in mind that we ate during dinner rush on a Friday night in July! I started with the creamy crab soup. Very good. Next I had a ribeye with broiled scallops. Bothe were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. They seated us fairly quickly considering it was so busy and our waitress (Lisa) was incredibly nice and prompt. Wonderful place for fresh fish and sea food. If you get in before 3 o'clock you can order from the lunch menu. Prices $8 -10 for enough food for even a hungry person. It is worth the drive to this place. It's close to Topsail Island's large bridge. read more

If I had to sum up my review in one word it would be "fine". The service was fine, our waitress was not very attentive and did not refill drinks but did get the orders right. The atmosphere was fine with a slightly cozy feel but everything was served on plastic plates that looked like my old lunchroom ones from grade school. Finally the food was fine with my fish being over cooked and baked potato dry. My boyfriends catfish was bland with little flavor and his fries looked and tasted identical to the frozen ones from the grocery store. I would not go back as I do not believe any of the food was worth the price. If you are looking for anything other than mediocre food I do not suggest eating here. read more

My family came back last weekend and had just an ok experience, which was a big disappointment because our last visit was awesome. This time, my mahi was dry, the grilled shrimp were VERY salty and almost burnt tasting, my husband's steak that was ordered medium-rare, came out medium, and our server wasn't very good. She took so long to bring the bill, my family decided to wait in the car while I paid the bill because the kids were getting so antsy. I also find it awkward to pay at the cashier stand and tip your server in front of your server while they impatiently wait for you to do the math. Worst experience ever today! Took over 30 min to get our order. They served the appetizer with the course meal. Waited 15 min for a drink refill after asking for one. Waitress was rude and moody. When ready to leave, asked for a to go box. Instead she served another table 3 times, then went back and started eating food. Meanwhile I still did not get my to go box. Unimpressed. I found this place on google with many good reviews, so I drove 30 minutes to get here. It's not awful but it's definitely nothing special. The crab dip literally tasted like cream cheese...hot cream cheese...that's it. The food was bland and fried and just not impressive at all. Even the view was lacking. I thought with it being on the water that it would be pretty, but there are ugly warehouse looking buildings between the restaurant and the water. Meh I wouldn't come here again. read more

We went here for dinner last Saturday night. It was busy but we didn't have to wait very long. The staff was very nice. Our waitress was great, but most of all the fried fish and shrimp were cooked perfectly. I could tell the shrimp was local... it was plump and delicious. They actually gave us too much food. Ended up taking two flounder fillets home. The hush puppies were unbelievable. Crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside. I wish I could make them that good. The only thing I wasn't wild about was the coleslaw, it has pickles in it which isn't our thing. Overall we had a great meal at a reasonable price and really good service. Nothing to write home about! Fried seafood. Shrimp is definitely not local to the area. Got broiled shrimp and they were shrimp salad size and white with no color. Hush puppies were fried extra hard. Crab dip looked and tasted like tuna fish served with lance crackers in the wrapper. Deviled crab was basically a crab fried with stuffing, Couldn't taste the crab! This place is definitely off the beaten path! But well worth the trek! It's your traditional "beach restaurant " fare. Lots of fried seafood options and a diverse special board and lots of pies! We had a party of 6 and were seated within 5 minutes of being there. The place was hopping. Our server was super friendly and quick. The hush puppies were good. The creamy crab soup was great (after individually seasoning to our likes.) one person had the pork chops - which they said to give a 5 star, as it was the best pork chip they'd ever had. 2 people had the friend clam strips - with fries and Cole slaw. Average meal (1 person added fried tilapia which was very good.) One person had the fresh fried oysters which were tender. Whenever we vacation in Topsail, we have dinner here one evening. It's very busy, bordering on chaotic, but that's all part of the fun. You will never taste better fried seafood. Riverview Cafe. Two words. Yes Sir. I've been eating here for years. Good seafood, great desserts. But let's talk about the deal. Lunch for about 7 bucks... Go with the Hand breaded chicken tenders. These piping hot strips will knock your socks off. Boom! Fried squash and sweet tea, now you are talking. The desserts change daily and come with your meal. The only people that complain about this place are the kinds of people that complain when restaurants have to increase their prices... Oh and philistines. This place is awesome. The 3 of us had 2 dozen oysters, a pound of crab legs, and steak and fan tail shrimp. Wow. We just had oysters in Baltimore and these were bigger and better. I've giving this place two chances now and I have to say that I'm not impressed. They give you enough to eat (as they should since it's not necessarily cheap) but the quality just isn't there for me. I had the fried flounder, shrimp and crab cake special the other night as did my dinner companions and the flounder was a good portion and fried ok, the shrimp lacked flavor, and the crab cake was over fried to a deep dark brown. It wasn't inedible but nothing I would seek out again. The sides were the biggest disappointment. I ordered broccoli and cheese casserole and squash; squash was greasy and they should've been ashamed to serve me the mush they called a casserole. Picture below. I enjoyed my trip here. The hush puppies were pretty good. I got the butter shrimp and was pleasantly surprised at the size of my portion. The French fries were not bad. The only issue I did have with my dinner was the clam chowder soup we got. The soup was runny, potato laden,and had very little clam in it. Not a bad trip, would head back for sure.
