Woof. Used to be one of my favorite places on the island but it has totally changed since I last went. Was a yearly thing for a long time, but I won't ever be going back. First, they stopped serving hushpuppies! WHAT. And the menu overall has changed and is just much more limited. Not many healthful options either. I ended up doing the steam pot, which was pretty good overall, but man the service was SO SLOW. The parking situation also makes no sense, it's like they don't want business unless you're staying in the hotel now, even though it wasn't very busy up there so that can't be the case. There are now signs everywhere saying you'll get towed without a Regis permit. I had parked in the main lot many times to come here, so I took a chance and asked the hostess (who was decked out in full goth gear and hair covering her entire face like a shih tzu so you couldn't tell if she was even paying attention to you) how to make sure I wouldn't be towed. She acted like she had no idea what I was talking about and shrugged and walked away. Very rude. Luckily, I didn't get towed, but would it be that hard for them to have a parking section marked for restaurant patrons or something? read more

Ocean's Edge was a bit of a disappointment. The place had an odd vibe and our waiter wasn't very friendly, which set the tone right away. We ordered the Topsail Punch, but it honestly just tasted like colored water--not enjoyable at all. We decided to stick with appetizers after realizing the menu was completely different (and much more limited) than what we saw online. The food itself was okay, but overall the experience just wasn't great. Definitely not a place I'd rush back to. Nice view though. read more

I really like the view but I wasn't a fan of being crammed in behind a post sandwiched between to other tables, it made it hard to get in and out of the seat to use the restroom. The food was subpar but I've had worse and the prices were average. I feel like this place could be very exceptional if given the amount attention and quality. I was so looking forward to eating here based on my wife's past experience. I couldn't have been more disappointed! The staff was not very welcoming, the restaurant was almost empty but yet the service was slow. Once we got our food it was cold as was the table next to us. By the time my burger was reheated the fries were cold! My wife ordered the blackened fish that was served not blackened but with some rub on a skinny piece of fish. We couldn't finish our meals nor could the table next to us. Before we went there several people had told us the food was awful and not to waste our money. I wanted to experience the restaurant over the water but we will never go back. Until they hire a chef instead of a line cook nothing will change. If you stay at St. Regis I highly recommend the Pirates place in building one for some really good food and skip Oceans Edge! read more

The view and location were reason enough to come to this restaurant! We saw whales breach and pelican's diving for fish! Located on the 7th Floor of building #2 in the St Regis complex. The staff is warm and friendly, and they don't rush you through your meal. We had lots of time to enjoy the view. I had the shrimp, they were done nicely and the red potatoes were yummy. In a nutshell this restaurant left me feeling burned by North Carolina seafood, we decided to go to here because they advertised steam pots and crab on their menu. But more on that later. The restaurant sits in a condo complex called the St. Regis - likely no affiliation to the swanky hotel brand because swanky it was not. The venue was beautiful but underutilized at best. As a former hostess, the host was complaining about her day to me and about how crazy Tuesday was looking (it was Saturday) and we waited 30 minutes for a table when there were multiple open tables and 8 tops sitting around, to which they stuck us on one end. The bar serves as a spillover area for patrons waiting and you couldn't get food, only apps and drinks, and while I was happy with my heavy poor wine, the bar risks over serving and under pricing their drinks while folks wait. We were brought to our table and the view was great but the food did not live up to the venue. The hush puppies did not come with any butter or sauce. First, we were disappointed to see that there was no steamed seafood anywhere on the menu, only to be told my coveted crab legs were only available "sometimes" and it didn't matter it was on the website. Strike two. So to make up for my crab craving, we ordered crab dip. Other reviews on this page say it was a cheesy gelatinous mess with canned crab...has to be canned, if it was fresh, they'd have no issue serving me the crab itself...absolutely shameful of a beach restaurant. I live in Washington DC and get higher quality, fresher crab than I did right on the "Ocean's Edge." Then, I ordered peel and eat shrimp and wasabi tuna. The shrimp had no flavor and I had to ask for cocktail sauce which should be a default accompaniment. The tuna was the only redeeming part of the restaurant. My fellow diners had flounder and tuna steak. The flounder was clearly frozen as it was sopping with moisture and lacked flavor and structure. The baked potato used pre packaged bacon and the tuna steak was "just fine" according to a fellow diner. A fellow diner ordered veggies and was brought out mashed potatoes and the server tried to cover it up by saying that they were out but then later brought us a plate. Lastly, one diner ordered a burger which lacked flavor and utilized a brioche bun - come on, this ain't Sunday brunch! Lastly, we ordered a slice of chocolate cake which was comped due to the prior mess ups or guilt...and it was all right but unfortunately Sally cannot be swayed by a comped slice of cake. LASTLY, on the way out, we had to dodge dead cockroaches - no wonder they weren't seating in the middle of the restaurant. I was really disappointed in the experience given it was our last night at the beach and I was ready to pay hand and foot for a steam pot but that was simply not the case. Probably won't be back, nice try, but needs a bar rescue or Emeril, or even Paul Hollywood at this point! read more

Unbelievable panoramic view of the ocean from the seventh floor. Serving sizes were plenty full and the food was very tasty. We had one issue with undercooked shrimp and the Customer Service here was beyond compare. They brought us twice as much newly cooked to perfection shrimp. read more

This place has a beautiful view to the ocean and would be the perfect place to have family dinners or girls night out. The food is absolutely disgusting. We ordered crab dip and they didn't have any. We ordered fried pickles and didn't have any. The waiter recommended the spinach dip (which the crab dip is placed right on top). It came out and there was no sign of flavor or mixing of any sort. It literally tasted like warm cream cheese with broiled cheese and pieces of green leaf in there served with the most oiliest chips (they were supposed to be pita chips) I have ever had. We didn't touch it after the first bite. The drinks were awful too- the sangria tasted like rotten fermented fruit. The waiter told us it was made in house and honestly we were shocked to hear that after we took the first sip. The waiter was very nice and super understanding. Poor guy just wanted to serve good food and good drinks but the kitchen truly failed him. I saw several plates from different tables being sent back during our time there too. Called today and manager said "I don't know what else I could've done, I posted it on Facebook and on our answering machine". I told him I didn't check because I would assume if a reservation was cancelled they would call, leave a message, or at least text. He said "I don't know what you want me to do about it now". This place is absolutely horrendous. we stayed at the St Regis (a dump as well) for a recent wedding we came to attend. The food at this place is near rotten and the servers look like they were taken off the beach, sprayed down with a hose and sent out with a plate in hand. I would never ask my dogs to eat here let alone my family. When i did complain to the owner Greg, he came out from the back, drunk and stumbling and said "F it well take it off the bill..." then mumbled under his breath and walked away. We were put directly below a broken ceiling vent that was being supported by a table, a chair, a stool, a large tub or bucket, and a piece of wood with nails sticking out of it. I am going to take a wild quess that this is not following code. On top of the wonderful death trap looking over our table, our server was awful. I'm not sure if she doesn't like kids or just doesn't like people in general but there was nothing warm or welcoming about her. 10/10 would highly recommend. In fact, I'm planning to go back. First of all, I go to restaurant's for the food and it was amazing. We had appetizers and mains. Everything was cooked well and tasted awesome. The service warm and friendly. Our waiter chatted with us, helped with the menu, and reassured us about the toddler's not being too loud because she saw much worse kids all of the time. This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to leave a note on my receipt complimenting the restaurant and server. Somehow I left my debit card on the table and they mailed it to me with a note. The views alone at this place were worth going for. Even if the food and service had been bad the sky view of the beech (with binoculars at each table) was worth the whole meal price. Speaking of, prices were very reasonable. We paid about $30per person with 3 adults and 2 kids. read more

Had my wedding here in July and overall it wasn't a terrible experience but it also wasn't a great one. We were told that we would have access to the event hall at 9 am to decorate and get everything ready but to our surprise, whatever event was done the day before had not been cleaned up. I'm talking food on the ground, tables dirty, chairs and floors stained. Even the archway in the corner was bent and broken. They also told us originally that they would provide us with linens, that was a lie. If you want to host an event here, you must provide your own. When we called the event hall coordinator/manager to express our concern, as the wedding was that day, they claimed that it was our problem and that the earliest they could get someone in to help was at 4pm. Mind you my wedding was scheduled for 6pm which was extremely frustrating. Once they finally did get someone in, it was a teenager with a broom and bucket to put trash in, no vacuum, no team, nobody who would actually help and make a difference. It was disappointing. Also the pool was empty which was just kind of an eye sore walking to the beach ceremony. On the bright side, whatever teenage boys set up the outside ceremony seemed to be the only ones who had their crap together and they set up a beautiful arch and arranged the chairs perfectly. It ended up being a beautiful ceremony and the venue worked for our small wedding party to celebrate during the reception. And another side note is that this is still a hotel so it was kind of awkward having random guests come peak in at random times or just be curious as to what's going on. We also decided to cater our own food rather than buy it from the restaurant in the hotel because it doesn't get great reviews. The windows in the event center were also super nice because you had a beautiful view of the beach, but they could use a good cleaning. I only have good/positive pictures from that day that I will post, but trust me, it wasn't a great experience and caused this bride a lot of unnecessary stress. read more

The food was excellent! My wife has food allergies gf and dairy free , they accommodated her and made our experience enjoyable! Complements to the chef on the sushi grade blackened tuna. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server Chrystal was professional and hustled to make sure we had exactly what ordered. I had Chicken Alfredo and it was swimming in a paste like sauce with no flavor what so ever. The chicken had no flavor and was dry. The bread was grilled but didn't even have butter on it. The cream for the coffee was curdled. Our waitress was a nice gal and the food came out quickly but really was inedible. I didn't eat it and was only offered an I'm sorry when I said it was not edible. No one in my party was pleased with their food and we will not be back. We were told it is under new ownership. If you are considering having an event here, RUN...far and fast! I had a beautiful AND AMAZING wedding, not because of them but DESPITE the staff and venue coordinator trying to sabotage. Please read this so you know what you are trading off for that amazing view. This place is an episode of Bar Rescue that hasn't happened yet. If the owner would return my calls, I would tell him that I tried to spend my money there, I tried to give him revenue just by paying them to do the things they advertise as a "full service venue". But, more on that later. Greg, your manager is ruining your investment. From one business investor to another, I felt sorry for you until you blew me off and pretended I texted the wrong number when I messaged you. Mostly though, I just wanted my wedding to be special. It was, BUT only because I refused to let her do that to the event I saved for, for years. I am taking the time to write this to any potential brides so you will not be fooled into believing the pictures they use are their actual work product. They aren't. Lazy, rude, and unhelpful are some of the words I can think of. Imagine a venue manager who attempts petty sabotage your wedding day for not paying her to "coordinate" . Sticky floors, broken AC, rude and hateful staff, not even getting a chance to eat your own wedding cake on your wedding night because the caterers refuse to serve you, your handicapped and elderly family member having her food taken away before she could finish eating and then having the staff refuse to replace it, having all the dresses black from floor filth at the end of the day, dirty drapes that they refuse to let you move, having to ask your family to go mop the floors because it was so sticky the day of the event that you walked out of your shoes as they stuck to the floor, having to pull your contract out and read it so your kid can be served sprite from the bar because you paid for the drink package and bartender, not having one single helpful moment from the restaurant catering team, no ice or water refills, having to stand at an empty or understaffed bar to even get sweet tea, being forced to use plastic cups for wine and your toast because "glasses get dropped and people get barefoot" (the irony is the glass beer bottles that are served from the bar and glassware for all other drinks), having minors at the party served from the bar, asking your the venue manager for room measurements for over a month (finally getting them when you agreed to cashapp $30 for them), I'm still waiting for that table layout diagram for the "standard package" all of that overshadowed the amazing food that was served late (by the way, food was amazing, Greg and if you ever return my call I will tell you) So, if you want a good meal...go for it. If you want someone who actually cares about your wedding day, please run because if the Venue Manager decides she doesn't like you or just wants to be a miserable human because she has that unchecked authority; it will cost you time, money, and possibly worse. So let's talk about what they advertise vs what I found: 1. Handicapped accessible Ocean ceremony: No it isn't 2. Event Planner onsite-No, "she's tired of doing it" but she will make promises, before the contract is signed. 3. "Experience Tailored to fit your style"- No, you get what they give you. Tables are set up their way and you get some linens, food, and the ocean-anything else is your problem. Would you like to eat your $10k meal from round tables? No. Would you like your tables set up different than flat against the walls with giant obstructions? No. 4. "Our team takes care of the details"-they do not 5. "Your wedding is as unique as you"-not included in their standard or any upgraded package 6. "Upstairs loft can be used for rehearsal dinners or bridal parties"- No it's uncooled, dirty, and used for storage. 7. Sand Table $20-No it's $50 "but if it's windy, they won't put it out and you will not get a refund" 8. Couples may rent items such as chair covers, dance floors, and tables- Yes you can, just not from them and they won't set it up either. But you can hire private decorators for the space because Amanda is, "tired of that". Any items that you see in pictures that aren't table linens are likely from a private, outside decorator but those vendors aren't given credit in the advertisements or on their social media accounts. And the guest favorite was the toilets that didn't flush on either the 1st or 7th floor. read more

My wife ordered salmon which again was not noteworthy,she didn't even finish the fish,he entreewas accompanied by a hard baked potato. Cups were dirty when we got coffee. Riding the elevator up and coming out to see the waves crashing outside was a great touch for the decor. It wasn't very busy so we were seated right away and immediately had our drink order taken and were brought hush puppies which were fantastic! For appetizer we ordered bang bang shrimp and they were amazing. I ordered the blackened salmon and cheese grits. The grits were pretty okay, can't really say grits are amazing anywhere. The salmon was an 8 ounce piece and it was pretty good. Slightly overdone but nothing to complain about. My girlfriend got shrimp Alfredo. The shrimp was great, the pasta was okay and the sauce was alright but it was alittle much. Overall it was pretty good though. read more

Tonight was a little bit of food with mixed with a little bit of bad. The food was good. We had the firecracker shrimp app, island punch to drink, the shrimp and scallops with new potatoes and the shrimp and flounder fried platter. Everything tasted great. The service unfortunately left a lot to be desired. The restaurant itself was not busy but they still shared it would be an hour wait. We decided to eat at the bar instead like many others and ultimately that is where the service lacked. We received very little attention and waited 15 minutes each for drink refills, food orders, silverware, and our tab. The view was great which helped, and the that's the reason for 3 and not 2 stars. read more
