Plenty of great barbers in Riverside at half the price... Rebuttal to owner's comment: My comment had absolutely nothing to do with the quality of haircut or barber...it was simply based on your price. I get my haircut twice a month and always leave a $5 dollar tip per visit. That's $70 a month to go to your shop. In a city like Riverside brother, that doesn't quite fit the demographic but I'm sure you'll learn that real quick. I'm not going to sit here and say that they don't do great hair. If you want a solid cut, you can't go wrong here, but $25 for a haircut is pushing it. I first started going in 2014 when cuts were $18; in two years the price has increase 39% with an unchanged product to accompany it. 39% is steep, & what's to stop it from eventually reaching $30? Personally, there are way too many barbershops in Riverside to justify my continued business here. I just got my haircut the other day & it looked just as good as it does at RSC. Ultimately, a smart consumer should recognize a cost increase with no additional benefit & call that increase into question. My only other gripe is the shaky customer service. Show up a minute past the grace period? Lose your spot. That's fine; I wouldn't have an issue with that if it wasn't for the fact that I've been there numerous times on time & had to wait anywhere from 5-15 minutes for the seat to be open. It's called building good rapport with your clientele. If you're going to hold your customer to that standard, then you need to hold yourself to that standard as well. EDIT: I've just been informed that it's actually $30 now. Personally I think you gotta be crazy to pay that for a hair cut. And for my non math majors out there that's a 67% price increase in two years. Might as well go to a salon if you're gonna pay that. read more

I didn't really know what to think of this place at first. I had been at Cold Cutz for a couple years and they didn't cut my beard how I liked it so I started shopping around for a barber that could cut my hair and trim my beard the way I like it. I went to "The Board Walk" and got a high and tight which I'm not in the military (no disrespect) and wasn't what I asked for at all. Went to "Obie's Barbershop" got a great cut. However when I asked for a beard trim the guy acted surprised because it wasn't in the appointment book. Then to do both hair and beard would cost 26$ without tip ummmm no thanks! Had a fiend who went to "Riverside Shave Co." and he told me to come check it out. I made an appointment for 2:00 and got in the chair at 2:30. I'm not usually a fan of waiting 30 minuets when I make an appointment but Tyler made up for it with his cut. Best cut I've had in a while and I was super impressed and will definitely be going back! Seriously could have cared less about the wait after I got the cut! Don't make the mistake if going to AJ's it's literally a couple doors down and you will be absolutely disappointed! First time here, came in and sat down without anyone saying a word to me, a couple of minutes later one of the barbers checked me in, really did not like the whole system of appointments only. The cut was not bad at all, all of the barbers seemed like they had a lot of skill but overshadowed by their attitudes, just wanted to talk to each other. First things first - GET AN APPOINTMENT. These guys have made a good reputation and you can't think you can just walk in and expect a haircut. They have clientele. Also BRING CASH. No credit there. They do have a ATM if you forget. Its a great atmosphere. Positive attitudes, TV's going, music playing, and a pool table while you wait. Tyler, Tu, Roger, and Jake all do great styles on people. Found this place about a month ago. Awesome barbershop. Entire staff is super cool. Place is chill, clean, and comfy. I like that they are by appointment only and you get seen on time. My old shop was walk-ins only and I hated having to wait hours for it to be my turn. My life is busy and I don't have time to lose my day to waiting for something I shouldn't have to. My barber is Bryan. I have been to him a couple times so far. Love this dude. My cut is fresh and on point. He has a loyal customer in me. I will say though, that just watching all the other cuts walking out, I don't think there is a bad barber in the joint. They have tvs, radio, and cool ambience. Barber chairs are vintage style, comfy. A/C keeps in a great temp. There is an ATM inside, of course, this means no credit cards. I do wish they had that option. Sometimes grabbing cash on your way is a pain and who wants to pay an ATM fee?!?!? But if the "no credit card" thing is the only down side then I can live with that. Joint has street parking, if available, out front. There is plenty of spaces in rear of building. If you ride a bike, there are spots close to building, even in the rear. There is no way you can't find a spot. I definitely recommend this place. Even if you love where you go now, give them one cut. I think you might re-think your old spot and start going here more often. read more

This shop is amazing. The atmosphere is very welcome and chill. I've had my hair done by Tu the owner and he is an awesome barber. I also had Tyler do my hair and it came out great. These barber know their stuff and I can honestly say I trust them all with my hair. Went to Obie's a few weeks ago, and I left pretty unsatisfied. He didn't give me the cut I asked for. So I tried out Riverside Shave Co. Riverside Shave Co nailed it. I sat down with Tyler and asked for a skin fade. While he voiced that he needed practice with his skin fades, I think he did great. The best skin fade I've ever had. He took his time, which I appreciated. It wasn't a rushed, "get in and out of my chair," just so he could get the next customer in. He took great care with every detail of my cut. Remembered to do everything I asked for without needing to be reminded. When he offered to use a straight razor for the bottom of my fade, I was sold. To me, that's a huge indicator of a barber that knows a proper cut. And he said it himself, "A barber that doesn't use a straight razor is just a cosmetologist." I was able to just sit and relax and not worry. Such a rad job. And he made a great effort to get to know me, have conversation, and not just have me silently sit in the chair. Tyler is a rad barber. The shop itself is killer. Great vibe, decor, loved the music playing. From rockabilly, to horror punk, to Johnny Cash. My favorite parts were the prices. Did not have to make an appointment, the owner took me as a walk in. The owner and staff and friendly and the shop itself has a great feel and presentation. Let me just say, this is the best barbershop I have ever been too, and I'm not even exaggerating when I say that. This shop has some of the best barbers, along with great customer service. What I really like about this barbershop too is that they stick to true traditional mens hairstyles. One barber in particular that works here (Ethan), who happens to be my barber, is a superb barber. I am a senior in high school, and I've been getting my hair cut by him since I was a sophomore. However, this location is in Riverside CA and I live all the way in Hemet CA, which is roughly an hour long drive to get there. Not one time did Ethan ever leave me disappointed or even mess up my cut. He is an outgoing guy and it is always a great pleasure to talk to him every time I go in to get a fresh cut from him. Very well maintained establishment with professional staff. The place is kept very clean, and the decor is on point. The barbers are friendly and they keep it real. They go above and beyond for their customers--which explains why they have so many repeat clients, including me. I've been getting my haircut/styled by David. He's been a huge help in getting my hair to look the way I want. He makes great suggestions from the start to achieve the perfect look I want. Sometimes he understands my hair better than I do--there's a science to this madness, and he's got the PhD.
