I was excited to go to Riverside due to pictures looking awesome. When you arrived, the hostess was telling us, tables are booked for 9 pm, (we must live by then). It was only 6 pm, we were there for one drink. Finally, we were seated. The service was in a slow motion. Finally, the waitress came, she was sweet, we ordered our drinks, few of items on the menu wasn't available. It was little frustrating. Saturday evening, things out of stock. ??? Finally, we settle for a margarita and a beer. Our drinks came , but it felt an eternity. Margarita was way too sour compared to usual Margarita at any place. The bar lounge had a nice tropical vibe for its decor. I thought that was simply awesome. The music choices were not my taste. I am re-writing this review to take into consideration the 2 thorough replies from Riverside I received about my review. I was not coerced to do so but feel it is the right thing to do. It does not change my rating of the place as a whole because I still feel there are better options, but a more fair review was in order. Ok. So I've been here mostly for Yelp events..and based on those events I would have given this spot minimum 5 stars...maybeeee even 4 stars but definitely not less. But as a paying customer, when they clearly had no clue I was a Yelper... Yeeesh. I spent damn near 100$ there the last visit. And at first I tipped (the most option available on credit card) 20% ... But when they decided that 20% wasn't worth good service ... (As demonstrated by even sh*ttier service than the already not-worth-20%)... I decided it was time to tip the minimum available via CC 15% (which I would never tip under, out of principle). The service here offends me at those prices! Taxes are included which is nice but it's still pricey. Service: as mentioned, not fabu. Riverside was less than pleased with my original mention of barmaid's appearance as a factor for the slow service and I can see how it could be seen as offensive so I have removed this part here. *le sigh* Everyone is so sensitive these days. I was also informed that this is not a place one should expect to be served at your seat so going to the bar to get your own drink is advised. This was apparently the actual reason as to why service was slow and I believe I understood that this is something they are working on for the near-future. Also they roofed-in their whole gorgeous back terrasse...boooooooo!!!! I mean I'm sure we would have been grateful if it was one of those terrible rainy cold-a$$ days which seem to be the norm now...but it wasn't. It was the first beautiful gorgeous terrasse Friyay we've had this year and we spent it in an enclosed box. *sad face* #MaybeIllSeeYouInAutumn Addendum: Riverside explained this was a temporary set up for a special private event and they will be back in the sun afterwards. They do get bonus points for hosting seriously kickass events: 5 star establishment for events, I would definitely attend events here in a heartbeat. They still have Yappy hour (when dogs are allowed!!!) and they've increased it to EVERYday between 5-8pm (not just Thursdays like last year), but they seem to have gotten rid of the big open grassy places (aka"dog park") they used to have in lieu of an outdoor 'dance floor'?! Addendum: Riverside explained that while they won't be bringing back the dog park they will be adding a beach volleyball court which is actually a really kool idea! I originally wrote: "Reading this it makes me wana just give them 2 stars."; I must retract that statement taking into consideration the responses from Management, the people here are genuinely trying to please as many customers as possible and that is obviously not always possible...they do not deserve 2 stars at all, clearly demonstrated by them taking the time to write, not 1, but 2 replies to my message in which, though i clearly upset them with my initial review, were written professionally and with intent to solve issues. I maintain the bit about the amazing pitcher of sangria (see original review) HIGHLY reccommend! Also tasted a few of their cocktails to date: definitely not their forte. They're ok and more or less generous with the booze... But not what I would come here for. Management did respond to this as well stating they are adding more cocktails and to definitely ask them to whip up something special for us based on our preferences, which is seriously kool. So I will explain my opinion a bit more: I have tried a good 4 or 5 ...maybe actually 6 of the cocktails here on separate occasions and none of them really wowed me or made me want another one of the same, it's possible I just never tasted the right ones, but it's why my opinion is: their cocktails aren't their forte. Re: my " #WTFIsDuckTruck?! " : I have been reassured that apparently Duck Truck will be the next big thing so we'll see how that pans out. P.S. I was just trying to be kyoot n funny with the " #WTFIsDuckTruck?! " I meant no offence or disregard for what may be an excellent choice. Sidenote: gentrification sucks. ... No response from Riverside on this but "So do better", sounded too harsh to me, so instead let's say: it would be great to see some kinda great local initiative get started at this place too (for example they could say when X amount of cocktails are sold they will donate X amount to building low income housing in the area, or something else obviously, but just an example). read more

I experienced my first crawl pub with the Riverside and I would love to finish by this one instead.. The entrance is not attractive at all, but once you get in, whaou ! It's a choc. You are on the feet of this huge field, a glass of gin tonic on your hand, your feet in the sand of the beach volleyball. You can either play ping pong if you want to. I loved the contradictory styles of this place between the chic atmosphere of the pub, and this old field no longer in production that let you think about the legacy of our grand parents. The Best dj I've ever seen in Montreal was there... I don't know his name and I believe he was here to celebrate a birthday of someone for its 30 years old. He started with some cool disco songs and then turned to R'n'b. The ambiance was hot and electrical... My only con is about a drink that I choose that cost me 15$ (wo tips) and was ridiculously small... Hopefully for us, we had a pre-drink party just before so it was so important but for this price.. Definitely recommend this place #love read more

Night scene review. I was curious to explore Riverside as some of the reviews of its soft opening raved about it having an great outdoor DJ/ bar night scene. So I decided to check out at prime time - Saturday night @ 11:30 pm. Public transit was easy up until the St Henri metro station then a 18 minute walk - so I decided to uber it instead (8$ ride). Entrance was nice - no cover. There was an indoor club area entrance and an outdoor backyard feel entrance. Beautiful view next to some abandoned silos. There was a food truck, le cheese (I don't know a picture of a chunk of cheese) which I found so creative. Inside also had nice decor. The bar lost points for me - no actual menu- cheapest was beer for 4$. And for using card you need a minimum 15$ purchase, so not so cheap. Nice outdoor picnic table seating along with inflatable furniture randomly scattered across from the food truck area (90s haha). Music : garbage- no variety - cheap budda bar style vibe - the DJ clearly did not know any new or old tracks - and was playing for himself. Even after a few drinks I still did not feel like dancing when I love dancing! Crowd: too young - I felt like I was in a student council dance party. Definitely does not beat places like the W hotel. I'm kind of upset the Asian night market for this year is being hosted at this spot - seems small and will not fit full capacity. read more

Such a little hidden gem! I stumbled uppon this cute bar randomly when exploring that sode of the city. Too bad it was raining, it was a little empty but the music was perfect (it was a Saturday end of the afternoon so the hip hop lofi mix was on point), and the place inside was beautiful, full of plants, cute couches and nice decor. We got beers (9$ a pinte) but they have cocktails too ($10 - $15). They have a sand voleyball court, foozeball and pool tables. Totally worth stopping by! read more

I was looking to grab a beer on a terrace. It's a nice location and the decor was cute. I also enjoyed their selection of local beers (canned not in draft). I wouldn't come back though, there were so many hipsters I felt out of place. Also, the indoor area had a strong foul smell coming from the bathroom. A true gem in the upcoming St-Henri neighbourhood... by far one of the best spots in Montreal! A unique place that offers something for everyone. Great for night out, but also has fun activities like volleyball, basketball. Ping-Pong and pool tables which is great if you're looking for something fun and different. Definitely one of its kind in Montreal. It's always busy but has enough space indoors and outdoors to give it an airy feel. Would make a beautiful and unique venue for a private party as well. Their new management and recent renovations have really brought this place to the next level. Not only have prices gone down but they have a new cocktail menu that is amazing. Great spot. Love that it's half indoors and outdoors especially for the summer. Staff is super friendly and very accommodating. Owner is also very friendly. I would recommend this place if you're looking to have a casual drink and dance the night away and also if you are looking to have a private party as the option is there. Drinks are affordable. Bathrooms are well kept. However parking is a bit of a problem. read more

Decided to check this place out on Saturday night with some friends looking for some great drinks and good fun. The venue outside is cute: coloured picnic tables, strung lights and oil barrels for tables. The space is very informal which a limited drink menu mostly of beer, one choice of white or red wine, and your staple mixed drinks. Inside has a more lounge feel with curved couches and long bar, and a DJ spinning in the back. Again, same drink menu inside although they can mix up more drinks . The space was really warm and had no ventilation. Overall, it would have been great if they offered a drink menu per se, instead of "what do you want" concept in terms of mixed drinks. But I would totally go grab a drink or glass of wine outside by the Canal on a nice afternoon if the venue opened earlier and not after 5 pm (including weekends). Like the concept that you can bring your own food to enjoy outside too! read more

This place is in a unique location as it sits right by an old factory which has been abandoned for years. The owner has added so much charm and warmth to his place. The terrasse is amazing with the wood and all the special rustic elements. The best part is the people who work there! They go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. A must stop!! read more

Went here on a Saturday night in September. Arrived around 10:30. Was full-ish, but still definitely room to grab a seat. Things started heating up around 11:30. Good for big groups, we saw a group outside that appeared to have rented out a section for a birthday. Spotted a few bachelor parties. Beer $8 Wine $8-$12 per glass, $40-$60 for a bottle. Double mixed drink $14. People were in jeans/casual dresses/fashion forward gym shoes, but still fashion forward. Definitely not an "old port club" spot! Great music, no one really danced though? No cover when we went, but the location well filters the crowd. Generally attracts a trendy young professional, didn't notice a lot of students. read more

I was so excited to give this place a try but when I did it sadly fell flat for me. They don't really have a drink menu and the location is a pretty far walk from the metro and is a little secluded. The location itself is pretty bare bones and the music really wasn't very good , i just felt the vibe here was lacking some life and energy. The drinks were okay I had a gin tonic and then a bourbon lemonade , not bad but not really standout either , very basic cocktails nothing in the way of presentation or putting their own spin on things. The staff was very friendly though which definitely helped. Overall I didn't hate it but I can't say I would be interested in coming back again, especially with so many other great cocktail/bar options in montreal. read more

Ended up getting bottle service and had a hardcore SMOKESHOW bottle girl named Karolina! Super chill and so cool. Like the coolest. Pretty sure we're best friends now. WILL RETURN. I loved this place ! I went there because I won a contest from the SAQ and I was invited, plus one, to a 5a7 with free drinks and bouchées. I loved the deco, the outside terrace (even if it was raining) and the service. The only thing I would comment about was the music. For such nice place I expected to hear something better than the radio of my car but then probably they chose the music for that type of event. Overall good experience. read more

As a St-Henri local, this establishment gives me pride & a sense of home every time I visit. The staff is always warm and inviting, the drinks & vibe is absolutely incredible. During my hour long wait at the line, I've had the utmost pleasure of listening to two bouncers treat everyone like trash. It wasn't enough that the majority of people were waiting patiently but we had to also feel like shit on top of this. What did those two bouncers do you ask? Well let me tell you: First, they push a guy trying to get in so hard I had to catch him only for the other bouncer to realize and tell his co-worker that "he's cool and can actually get in". At some point, the small african bouncer would talk loudly and in an impolite manner to a guy who was admittedly drunk to tell him to get in the back of the line in such a way that is akin talking to a dog that doesn't understand simple commands while obviously doing it on purpose to attract attention. I've heard that same small african guy announce loudly how even if he would be drunk he could get all the women he wants. At some point he saw an other guy get pushed by the bouncer and said proudly that he's "always ready for action". He also gave a hard time of a group of 3 girls and 4 guys that the ratio wasn't good enough for them to get in and they had to think of a solution, after 30 minutes he decided to "grace" them by letting them in. I guess he just wanted to be an asshole during their wait. Since we've been waiting for a long time, my friend decided to politely ask the bigger bouncer (not sure but maybe his name was maybe Jordan) if we were going to wait any longer, to which the bouncer responds:"did I tell you that you could get in? I'll tell you to get in when I tell you to get in". This was the final straw for us. We don't mind waiting in line for an hour but all this attitude from the bouncers left a bad taste in our mouths so we decided to leave. So 1 star because not only we didn't get in but we had to be belittled on top of it. I guess that's how Riverside wants to run their business. Treat their clients like cattle and have two small dogs bark in front of them. read more
