Lots of brown grass and bad/dead spots. The greens have so many bumps they are like little speed bumps. Food at the restaurant is hit or miss. They seem to be understaffed at the restaurant a lot. The guys in the shop - some fine, some jerks. Carts all work well but they added annoying governors yet the course is still not nice. Just not nearly as pleasant a place as it used to be.

Pace was quite slow despite the short length even as a walker. There were ball washers on nearly every hole, 2 water coolers, and 2 portapotties. The practice green was in worse condition than the actual greens. Some tee boxes were torn up, but only required finding a new spot, so not terrible. You won't lose many balls because it's open but there's minimal risk of hitting onto another hole. There are some deals to be had on apparel but sizes are limited. I would certainly return. It easily becomes a 5 star deal if pace picks up and tee boxes are improved.

Relative to its competitors, it is more family friendly, gender neutral, and diverse. The cost to join is steep. There is no clubhouse yet, but the club keeps growing and adding amenities. The pool and pool house (used as a temporary clubhouse) are first class, the tennis and platform tennis facilities are all new, but the course (and the opportunity to join an all new club where the culture is still developing) is the big draw. So yes, I have taken a full and complete look at this business and my experiences with it and simply had a different experience than others. I took lessons here awhile back and have recently been taking lessons at a different business recently. The lessons at My Chicago Golf started out well. Marcus was attentive and was able to make a difference in my game. Things were going well. That is, until, he slept through one of our scheduled appointments. His system sends out numerous reminders about upcoming appointments to customers. Unfortunately, it seems that it only sends them out to his customers, and not to him. We had an appointment scheduled, and I showed up fifteen minutes early. His storefront was locked, and knocking and ringing the doorbell did not yield any type of response. Unfortunately, emailing, texting, and leaving voicemails also did not make a difference either as they all went unanswered. After waiting about forty-five minutes for a sixty minute lesson, he finally opened the door. At that time, however, the customer for the next hour was already waiting at the door! That customer was courteous enough to let me use his scheduled hour, and he rescheduled with Marcus. As the lesson went on, Marcus did apologize for sleeping through it. He said that he overscheduled himself that morning, which caused him to oversleep during a nap. He was definitely drowsy throughout the appointment, and wasn't entirely alert or focused on my swing. What disappointed me the most, however, was that he didn't take responsibility for his mishap. Mistakes happen to everyone. Apologizing is only the first step in taking responsibility for those mistakes. He didn't offer an extra free lesson or a refund, or anything for that matter, to make up for his major mistake. This last part that is why he is losing two stars. If he would have taken responsibility for his failures, I wouldn't be as disappointed with him. I even would have used the final lessons I had in the package I purchased. Instead, I let them go unused because I was so let down by him. Missing an appointment completely without notice and/or an acceptable reason is a huge negative and a large problem. These lessons are not cheap. What's even worse is not taking responsibility for it. Mistakes can be overlooked, if the person making those mistakes owns up to them and takes responsibility. Unfortunately that didn't happen here.

Marcus, the owner, has been a fantastic coach so far. He's very charismatic and patient when…read moreexplaining and demonstrating any feedback. As someone who is just getting started golfing, he has really stressed the fundamentals while still pushing me to get to a point where I have the necessary skills to be able to practice and grow independently. The difference I see after each lesson is measurable and I've always left with things to practice (with videos demonstrating the exercise) so I can continue to see growth. Additionally, his location is a fantastic setup with some of the newest golf simulator technology to really enhance the lesson experience. I did a fair amount of research on different golf instructors and facilities in Chicago and am thrilled I landed on My Chicago Golf. I can't recommend Marcus and My Chicago Golf enough.

4 minutes ago New I…read morewent today with my husband, mom and her partner (4 total people), the course itself is beautiful but we intentionally got the last tee time because my mother and her partner do not know how to golf. It's a good place for more professional, fast pace golfers. Definitely not for beginners, the workers came around rushing us and telling us to go to the next hole instead of completing the one we were on. Super frustrating for the price and they charged us for double the carts when they were included in the price. Total money scam and super rude telling us to leave the first hole when we just teed off and telling us to skip holes to fit their agenda vs what we paid for. Golf is supposed to be a relaxing experience but here it's super rushed and very rude. Would never recommend for a beginner or group more than 2 people.

A no frills, 9 hole city golf course, that may be the last place where golfers can walk in and play without any or much delay. (Barring a league playing) The grounds keeping is spotty, the fairways flat and wide, and hazards are few; in a few words, a fairly easy course that will lower your handicap and uplift your ego, but could benefit from an update. Columbus park has plenty of free parking, electric golf carts & push/pull carts for rent; what they are missing is full bathroom facilities. They have installed a porta potty at the entrance and between hole 3 and 4, but the park's full toilet, by the parking lot and between  6 and 7 hole, has been closed. It was poorly maintained and in need of remodeling when the Chicago Park District ran the golf course, but now it is closed. The city of Chicago should require, as part of the lease of the golf course, that the bathroom be open and maintained; not only for golf patrons but for the park visitors.  This would  not happen in a more gentrified area. With all it's shortcomings, Columbus park golf course is worth a visit for an impromptu golf outing. With better facilities this course would be a 4, and with a little tender loving care, maybe even a 5, but, for now it's a 3. For the easy access.
