I've been going to this course for years, and typically the staff is friendly and the customer…read moreservice is great. It's typically a great course that's cheap and great for beginner golfers. But today I took my buddy (who is just learning golf) to this course, and he doesn't have any clubs yet so I let him use mine. Right when we were about to tee off, an old guy smoking a cigarette drove from the clubhouse to me and my friend on the first tee and scolded us about him not having a bag, saying "we clearly told you guys each golfer has to have his own bag, I'm going to let it go this time" in a very rude tone. Then he told us to keep the pace of play. I've been golfing for years, even with friends who don't have their own clubs, and me and my friends have never been scolded before for one of us not having a bag. Me and my friend were teeing off and he proceeded to hover around us on the tee, and we felt like we were being watched. Me and my friend got to the green on the first hole, and my friend accidentally pushed my push cart onto the green. Simple mistake from a first time golfer but not something anyone typically bats an eye to. But of course the same old man drove to us all the way from the clubhouse AGAIN, and when I noticed this I proceeded to move the cart off the green. Then the old man scolds us for the cart being on the green and lectures us about it not being "golf etiquette", and then he lectured us again how we need to keep up the pace of play even though we weren't going slow. I told him that my friend was a first time golfer and that he's still learning the game. Then he yells at me "TEACH HIM". Then these young 12 year old kids, probably from Hinsdale, were on our asses the whole round, making me and my friend feeling like we're in a rush. Later in the round we noticed they were actually hitting the ball when we were still on the green, even though this was clearly a par 3 course. That old guy didn't bat an eye. This is usually a great course to go to and I will be coming back, and it's usually good for beginners. BUT this is the worst course you can take a beginner golfer to IF that old guy is working that day. This was the worst customer service I've ever had at a golf course.

To start of day me and my friend went to play golf and we went into the pro shop where this young…read moreworker was being very rude and ignorant. Next after they didn't accept my amex card I didn't have any cash because most of every golf course in Illinois accept all forms of payment. Also I prepaid on the website and had a notifation on my card that i paid and yet I still had to pay at the course again. Then my friends mom came in the shop to help us pay for the round, remember this I gave the young guy at the register $5 to help pay for the round and she was going to pay $20 and me $5 the guy said I never gave him 5 dollars and continued to argue about the situation until I gave him ANOTHER $5. Workers are ignorant young brats and I'm the young worker pocketed my $5. Never coming back

I do not typically leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share this experience so others…read morecan make an informed decision. We paid $72 each for a 4:00 PM tee time and arrived to find there were no carts available and a delay in getting on the course. We were told we could use the driving range while waiting, but there were no range balls available either. Once we finally got a cart, there was no starter, no ranger, and no apparent management of pace of play. A group of 6-7 golfers was holding up the first hole, and despite calling the pro shop, nothing was done. To add to the chaos, there were also kids fishing in areas of the course near the fairways. The bunkers were extremely below expectations, and the overall operation felt disorganized from start to finish. There was also a wedding taking place near parts of the course, though due to the delayed start and slow pace of play, we never made it far enough to see how much it impacted play. For a course that regularly charges over $100 during peak times, the experience simply did not justify the cost. Save your money and consider one of the many better-run courses in the area.

There are no ball washers or bunker rakes and only 1 bathroom on course, though you will hit it once each on the front and back 9. Condition was fine, but there are lots of ground under repair areas and a surprising amount of soggy ground despite no recent rain. Greens do roll well. Carts have no GPS and the colored flags to indicate front/middle/back pin positions were not used so it's impossible to know exactly where you should be going. Pace was slow because it was a full course. We started 15 min later than our time and things only got worse. I saw the ranger a few times but he never stopped to speak with any groups, whether to improve pace, give an update, or simply be friendly. The pro shop feels like a clothing boutique, so not what you'd expect, but the staff are friendly and it has good seating/TV to catch a game, though it's not an obvious place you'd spend an extended period. The clubhouse is quite large and has a ton of event space. There is a snack window on the bottom floor and another set of restrooms on the lower floor that you'll encounter at the turn. Decor and general upkeep seem good for things like weddings/banquets. Restrooms are clean and have inside and outside entrances along with daily use lockers. They are shared by the golf and event spaces. Value isn't there at normal prices but if you can find a deal in shoulder season/twilight it MIGHT be worth it. Don't be sucked in by the famous Pete Dye designer pedigree. It comes through in the design but just isn't the full package you'd expect and are charged for vs. other options.

The club is quite new so the membership is young and the atmosphere more casual than the more established west suburban country clubs. Relative to its competitors, it is more family friendly, gender neutral, and diverse. The cost to join is steep. There is no clubhouse yet, but the club keeps growing and adding amenities. The pool and pool house (used as a temporary clubhouse) are first class, the tennis and platform tennis facilities are all new, but the course (and the opportunity to join an all new club where the culture is still developing) is the big draw.
