I had a lemonade that I couldn't drink but for a couple of sips so asked for a to-go cup. They brought me a nice size to go cup filled with lemonade which was nice, but I felt a little bad leaving the one on the table. My husband had the M&M burger with the works (bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce and onion) and as his side he picked cheese grits because he knew I love them. They were very cheesy and better than most grits I get in FL. 1/3 of my lunch and 3/4 of the grits got boxed up for our hotel dinner tonight. My husband said his burger was ok, over cooked for him as we are use to our burgers with a little pink to them. But, he said on a scale of 1-10 it was a 6....a little an above average. I loved how they monogrammed their restaurant brand into the top of the hamburger bun. We found this place off of Yelp as we were traveling through and just happened to pick Lexington TN as a place to stop for lunch. The most interesting visit was on a VERY hot day in August we were just looking for a break and maybe a cold brew but as we were entering the cove we saw something odd. There were folks walking out with armloads of stuff in quite a hurry. Apparently, the big overhead power lines had melted, wait what?! Did I mention that is was VERY hot? They were giving away ice, ice cream and everything that would obviously go bad in a hurry, oh yeah it was VERY hot LOL On to the review ... There's access for small and large boats, as big as freighters, and there's lots of dock space to tie up your boat as well as transient spots should you want to stay a while. If you are launching from here or just coming to the restaurant/bar they have a large parking lot and area for launched vehicles & trailers. they have fuel services (both diesel and gas), limited boat repair, permanent slips for all size boats from fishing boats to 40' party boats, a transient dock, a retail store with snacks, supplies, swimming and fishing gear, and more. There are separate reviews for Mermaid Marina and the restaurant but it's all together in the same building and while you can come here by land, and a lot of people do, you always know that you are on the river. They celebrate everything here from Cinco de mayo to Madris Gras and Superbowl. They never miss a chance to have fun whether it a Bachelorette party or 4th of July fireworks launched from a barge it's always something. They also have cabins for rent by the day, I'm not familiar with them but they're on the property and I have talked to a couple who were spending the weekend on the Redneck Riviera and seemed to be having a good time. Bottom line: The air conditioning is good and cold and so is the beer. The food is pretty good, especially the burgers and the people are very friendly and helpful. It's not a bad place to take a break, whether a storm or just recharge your batteries. If you are just cruising the area or if you're coming up from Mobile Bay this big building and all the docks are tightly tucked away in a cove and behind some small hills so look for the big sign or be safe and punch on the coordinates. Parking lot was packed, always a great indicator. I highly recommend this place. I also like serving myself. Always feel bougie when folks wait on me. No worries here. They're prompt with the drinks and the rest is up to you. The price is more than reasonable. Two people at the dinner buffet, gave the cashier 30 bucks and got paper change. Can't beat that with a stick.

We tried the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer (not the frozen kind from Walmart), my boys shared the hand breaded tenders with garlic bread, and green beans. The green beans....HOW did they get that much flavor in them?! I'm embarrassed thinking that I made good green beans after trying theirs. I need to sit down and take notes. The tenders were in fact hand breaded and looked great-my boys wolfed them down before I could taste one. We shared the regular catfish plate with 6 filets, beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and a baked potato with butter and sour cream. The catfish was done right! Good amount of breading, tender/flaky, not greasy. Beans and slaw were yummy as well. Let's talk about the star of this plate-the hush puppies. We got a combo of regular spicy and the spicy hush puppies have spoiled me. They were homemade and I could've eaten an entire platter of those alone. Everything was about $40, we left full and happy. As a foodie, it brings me great joy to find these places that are not food chains and their take on a food we have all eaten before.
