We booked the 2-hour ride with Riverman Trail Rides and had a great experience from start to finish. There was just one other couple riding with us, which made it feel more personal and relaxed; not crowded at all. The horses were well-behaved and mostly stayed in their own line, so even if you're not an experienced rider, it's easy to get comfortable pretty quickly. The ride itself takes you through the woods and along dirt roads, with a few inclines and declines mixed in. It's not overly challenging, but it's enough to keep it interesting and give you a good feel for the terrain. We weren't able to cross the river due to all the recent rain, but that's obviously out of their control. Even without that portion, the ride was still worth it. Overall, well run, enjoyable, and something we'd definitely do again the next time we're in the area. read more

We had an excellent experience! Check-in and shop staff were great. The guides had a quiet authority to them. We had 4 kids under 13 and all loved it. It was easy to park and well located. Sort of a long drive considering the short distance it was from our VRBO. Mounting was a breeze with their deck system. My kids loved riding horses through the water. I was nervous about the rain or shine policy but thankfully it didn't rain. There were a couple of tight areas which made the Mamabear in me grind me teeth. I wish they had given the kids a few pointers before we headed to out. The horses sort of have their own pecking order they like to walk in so you won't necessarily always be with your group. The forgoing review is not a review based on an actual experience on a Riverman Trail Ride, but rather a review of their customer service and the standard of belief concerning what is and is not right to do. I called to make a reservation and was unable to reach them, and sent a text message alert the instructions on their voicemail. They returned my call this morning at 10:30 AM. The lady offered an 8 AM trail ride as their only option available, which I understood due to the last minute request to book on my end. I accepted that time and she went over the details and explained there would be a deposit that is non-refundable. At 10:33 we end our call and I immediately remember that my daughter has tele-therapy at 9:30 that day. I immediately, within seconds of hanging up. (picture attached), called her back to let her know I was so sorry and we actually could not take the 8 AM Trail Ride reservation. I asked for a refund of my deposit of $65.00 and she advises me it is non-refundable to which I explained that I made a human error and rectified it within seconds. She advised she had to call her manager for approval and would call me back. She returned my call a bit later and advised they could not issue a refund. I expressed how wrong I believed that to be when she began to speak over me and end the call with "have a nice day". I'm a reasonable person. I completely understand the necessity of having a policy that requires deposits for holding reservations to protect a business against losses. This was not necessary. This company stole from me, my family and my children today. This company used their policy to take advantage of a Mother and wife of a currently deployed US Active Military member, and who is already trying to keep it all together during this impossibly difficult time in our lives. This company has no moral compass, and therefore I would not recommend them to anyone, and would highly advise to take your business elsewhere. read more

FIRST complaint is that they started our tour an hour late. They said the first tour of the day started late...but yet they require you to get there 20mins early.So we ended up waiting an hour and 20mins for our tour to even start due to them not cutting the first tour short like it says on the website they will if you are late. SECOND the guides were pretty unfriendly and seemed like they really didn't care to be there. THIRD the trail ride was really intense for beginners. The horses didn't seem like they were comfortable with the trail and neither was I. I've been on a lot of tours like this in other places and usually they are designed to be easy. The sites are beautiful but prepare for steep up and down hill and deep water for your horses to trot through. There was riders that had little kids (as young as 3) and had to hold onto them through all this. They should be more open with what to expect. FOURTH ** it seemed to me they use the same horses back to back for these one hour tours which is really unfair to the animals. They kept stopping for water when we were near it as I'm sure they hadn't had any in a few hours. We saw them use the same horses as the tour before us for our tour and looked like they were going for one more after us. EDIT: PER the rude reply from the owner to clarify: I arrived at 10:40am for my 11am tour. And they did not begin our tour until 12pm because the people before us ran late. His response that it's not their fault is valid but their website says they will shorten the tour for those that are late and failed to do so. We did not even complain about the place being late I just am noting my experience. I was not rude to anyone there so not sure he must be mixing us up with the group that showed up late. Additionally, I just noted that the intensity of the trip should be noted as far as going up through steep hills and across deep water while people had young kids. read more

Beautiful area to horseback ride! Things to note: We had very young riders in our group, and I feel that a little more attention to them would have been helpful. Some of the horses were a little "frisky". The saddles on two of the horses came loose - on one of them the rider fell as the saddle slipped sideways. The guides were very young (not to say they weren't experienced....just saying.) That being said, I would return for another trail ride in the future as it was relaxing and scenic. read more

I very much enjoyed my 2 hour trail ride with this company. The horses looked to be in very good condition and the place is well organized and efficient. You'll go through a large pasture and along an access road and then up a hill to some shady trees before you go down to make a river crossing or two. There's a little trotting but it's mostly easy walking and if it's a nice day like we had, it's a very relaxing way to spend an hour or two up in the woods. Recommended. I'll be back soon read more

Our 6th Annual Girls Trip brought us to Broken Bow this year. We booked a "sweet heart ride" for the 3 of us to ride - stop for wine and cheese - and ride more. We had no idea what to expect but it was FANTASTIC! Cody was a great guide - super friendly, experienced, and fit right into our threesome. He kept us laughing and making jokes that I'm sure had him blushing a time or two... The horses were great - they had awesome personalities and would get into a good trot from time to time - giving us a startle but super fun and perfect! We were looking for more than a slow ride. Beware. They are quite serious about NO refunds. The day before our ride a big thunderstorm came through and it rained on and off most of the day. The forecast for the following day, the day of our scheduled ride, showed a 50% chance of rain. After discussing with my family we decided the weather just wasn't optimum for a trail ride. So I called and asked to cancel because of weather. I was told that they were still planning on riding and I couldn't just cancel "because our plans changed ". Sure enough, when we woke up the next morning it was raining and continued to rain on and off in the day. I still got charged the $65 fee. read more

Our family of 11 just visited Riverman Trail Rides for Spring Break 2021 and it was amazing! Mr. Poppin Johnny is a súper kind & gracious host! All the kids (7 kids total) ages 17, 14, 12, 8, 5, 4 and 3 years old had a blast! The scenery is beautiful! We saw cows, horses, and crossed rivers on the wagon pulled by a tractor. I would like to share my recent experience with Riverman Trail rides. First, call with the manager was not pleasant and she is not customer service oriented. I explained to her that I'm going to be in town the week of spring break! Which is March 15th -19th for us. We'll she books me for March 10 when we are not in town. We did a girl's trip to Broken Bow and planned to do the 2 hour Trail Ride with Riverman. Leading up to the trip there was a lot of rain in the area. A rep from Riverman called us to inform us that a 2 hour ride wouldn't be possible because of the flooding. They were really great at letting us kind of do our own thing, while staying in there with the group of course, but they weren't controlling and telling us to do this or us to do that. Riverman trail rides surpassed all our expectations. Arriving 20 mins before our trail ride we checked in. Filled out our paperwork, weighed on the scales for the safety of the horses. No fat shaming. Just following the procedure that is given to everyone that makes a reservation or makes inquiries about the rides. The receptionist was very friendly and open to all questions. We then received detailed information on commands for our horses when riding. Again all questions and concerns were addressed. Our Guide was Jennifer and throughly enjoyed her. There was another couple riding with my cousin and I. Riding through the woods was just great and then crossing the Glover River was amazing and fun. We stopped at the bluff on the river to take a few pics. The memories will last a lifetime. We only did a 1 hour ride. I would recommend this to anyone who one who wants to ever go trail riding. We really just wanted to chill and enjoy nature and we got to do just that. Coming from someone who grew up riding, this trail ride was worth it and exceeded my expectations. A lot of times trail rides can be boring, just walk in a line for an hour and you're done. At Riverman Trail Rides we got to cross the Glover river twice in chest-high water on the horses and it made you feel like a real cowgirl/ cowboy! I booked two sets of reservations for 20 people. I was told we'd do 10 at 2pm and 10 at 4pm. Paid my deposit. It was raining the day of the rides, so I texted the booking number to ensure that we could still ride. I stated that I had reservations at 2 and 4 and was told we'd still ride unless it lightening. Our first group showed up and had a great time. Our 2nd group was thoroughly disappointed to find out that they did not have our second reservation. The woman at the front desk was super rude and unapologetic about the mess up on their end. I had texts to show our discussions about my reservations and the woman did not care. Then we spoke to a man, who also said there was nothing they could do. At least he apologized. Doesn't help when we now have 6 really upset kids! I given these ladies 5 stars! They were very helpful and professional along our journey! They paired us up with the best personalities they had to make sure we had the perfect fit for our horses. My daughter was a little scared but they did a great job making the horse and her while she was able to go on her own and enjoy the trail.
