Riverbend Sandler just instituted a service fee on paying with credit card. This is absurd. These are not $3-5 charges. These are hundreds and thousands of dollars of repairs and maintenance and then they instituted a percentage service fee to pay with a credit card? Not acceptable. Ok fine, I will pay you cash. Nope, service people don't take cash. This is not ok. We have been loyal customers. This is not how to treat customers. This is not how to do business. If you don't like your terms with the wire company you need to manage your business with them. read more

Riverbend Sandler has been disheartening to deal with. My house (and pool) was built in 2017 and the stone began SIGNIFICANTLY eroding within 2 years (see pics) across the entire pool. Riverbend has been out several times and has stated that "the stone is no longer under warranty" which is certainly true, but you hire a contractor because they claim they have a reputation for quality work. On their website it claims, "Our industry excellence is demonstrated by the fact that we are consistently featured in the list of Top 50 U.S. Pool Builders, and have won countless industry awards." They quoted $20K to fix and when I asked if they would own any of the cost of such faulty construction and their reply (as always) is "the stone is no longer under warranty". I have a difficult time understanding how such poor quality is mine to bear. read more

BUYER BEWARE! I had to file a consumer complaint against Riverbend Sandler Pools regarding the construction of a residential swimming pool. Despite repeated good-faith efforts to resolve issues directly with the company, numerous significant defects and management failure issues remain unresolved. My pool was "finished" in December 2025! Riverbend Sandler Pools failed to deliver work consistent with the written contract and professional standards. Materials and construction were not installed as specified, including incorrect grout color, (contract specifies white, they installed beige), an off-center spillway, improper grading, insufficient retaining wall height, and the pool being constructed lower than the surrounding yard--despite this being a primary design concern discussed during the planning stages. The company attempted to charge improper fees, including approximately $3,000 for a claimed AC refrigerant leak that an independent licensed HVAC technician confirmed did not exist, and $1,600 to correct an incorrectly installed grout color that was not our error. Concrete cracked immediately after the pour, indicating substandard workmanship. Turf re-installation is uneven, mismatched in color, and unprofessional. There were attempts to repair some issues however temporary patchwork was done rather than proper corrections. There were ongoing negligence and cleanup issues, including water left running unattended into the street, damage to existing concrete surfaces in multiple areas, broken backsplash, rusted tiles, and construction debris left throughout the yard and driveway. Communication throughout the project was poor, with unannounced crew arrivals, no-shows, inconsistent schedules, and incomplete work. I was forced to repeatedly initiate contact to determine next steps. Multiple escalation emails were sent to the General Manager with no response or resolution received. After multiple site visits and opportunities to cure defects, the issues remain unresolved. Their actions do not uphold the values mentioned on their website of "providing our clients the very best products and level of customer care". I had many pool builders to choose from and trusted Riverbend Sandler's reputation. That turned out to be a serious mistake. read more

DO NOT HIRE Riverbend Sandler pool maintenance!!! started off with promise, but has gone downhill fast. I've had multiple issues, all which point to a lack of attention to detail and a lack of customer care. 1. They took my pool cleaner and repaired it without asking if I was okay paying their price. It took two weeks before they even answered my phone calls asking if they took the cleaner. 2. For several weeks in row, they continue to spill chemicals on my deck, causing white stains. When I called to ask about it, they tell they'll have a supervisor call back, but they never do. 3. They do not pick goggles left in the bottom of pool. If truly cleaning and sweeping pool, wouldn't they fish these out. read more

Riverbend started out doing a good job put service and maintenance have gone straight downhill over the past year. They are completely incompetent when it comes to keeping records. They cam out and cleaned our filter and replaced the grids 2 months ago and they keep telling me it hasnt been don in 3 years, even though they charged me 2 months ago! Then they came out to repair a leak last week, charged me $600 and now say that the leak needs to be fixed again and can't find a record of the work being done. My card has definitely been charged! I'm completely over dealing with the incompetence over there! DO NOT USE RIVERBEND SANDLER unless you want to be completely frustrated with subpar work! read more

About 20 years ago and we had an excellent experience. However, recently, our hot tub quit working. The technician said we had extensive rodent damage, and it would cost $8000 to replace our pool heater. Our son took the cover off and the wires were fine. He bought a $21 sensor on Amazon and the pool and hot tub worked fine. They need to stop incentivizing their people to get paid bonuses based on what they can charge. We used Riverbend to design/build our pool in 2017, and they did a great job, absolutely no complaints. Since then we have continued using them to service the pool, also no complaints. Earlier this year we purchased a new house with a pool and requested Riverbend to service that pool as well. The new pool has looked and smelled like a pond for the better part of 3 months despite repeated calls to Riverbend. At this point we might as well stock it with catfish so we can at least fish in it. Don't get me wrong, they've sent people out and billed us, but I'm not sure they've actually done anything. read more

They didn't finish the work and Todd stopped returning phone calls and text messages so we had to hire someone else to finish the job. Riverbend did a terrible job on our basic pool remodel project- a replaster and re-tile of our pool and spa. Unless you are willing to babysit Riverbend daily and have experience and willingness to identify poor workmanship yourself, hire another company. Riverbend has no real quality control measures in place and expects for the customer to point out workmanship problems. A few obvious workmanship problems that we had: Riverbend intentionally dumped concrete sludge down our main pool drain during the project, which ruined our pool pump; Riverbend's repeated inability to install 1"x2" pool tile in a straight line; Riverbend's inability to properly plaster an existing 4-edge infinity spa (water ran down only one wall of our spa after Riverbend's work - the plaster job had to be redone twice). Our project went through at least 3 different "project managers", and the project took several months, rather an expected week, to complete due to errors in workmanship. read more

We feel obligated as a recent customer of Riverbend Sandler Pools to share our terrible experience as this is the only recourse available to us. Our hope is that this causes the company to look internally at their processes and procedures to provide better results for customers in the future. We realize there are many customers who did not have this experience with them, but in our situation they did not handle any of our issues properly and continually fell short of any reasonable expectations. Our pool took 11 months to complete. The original estimate was 3 months. In addition to that, because they did not design the circulation of the pool correctly, the pool does not function properly. At one point they didn't have a single worker at our house for 7 weeks. Yes, 7 weeks! And with no explanation as to why. We kept trying to keep the lines of communication open with our project manager to get some sort of timeline, and he continually told us that he had no idea when they would be out again. Only after we insisted on meeting with the GM did they schedule additional work to be completed. During this wait period, the backyard was left in total disarray with mounds of trash and debris everywhere. They make the sales process fun and exciting, but after signing that contract, you are 100% on their timeline and they get all their money upfront. Throughout this 11-month ordeal, there was no one that was consistent or even apologetic about our situation. At the end of it, we must have dealt with 10 different people in the organization. The most frustrating part was the lack of communication. Our project manager Bert never had an answer and would push off all questions to his co-workers as if he could not talk to them directly. The GM ignored our calls and emails and never responded to any of our voicemails. We realize that construction can have complications and longer timelines than original expectations, but what we CAN'T understand is how this company handled the project and made zero effort to take responsibility or action when things were not going properly. read more

Do not use this company!!! We started talking to them in July of 2023, and contracted with them in August of 2023 to build our pool and patio. The salesman Lee was fairly decent at the beginning, but is really not meant to be a salesperson. He provided a lackluster design that I personally altered and modified to come up with something we could tolerate. This should've been my first hint at how things were going to go!! They started in September of 2023 and told us they'd try to be done by the end of the year, what a joke that was! The salesperson slowly became less and less responsive while the project manager kind of took over while they destroyed our front yard, cut our internet cable and went into the neighbors yard. By the end of October they had made a good amount of progress and seemed to be on track. Then came months of barely any progress at all! Good luck getting ahold of anyone there or getting any kind of notice as to what they're doing! The end of the year came and went and still nothing was done, the only communication I got was asking for more money!! They finally put some water in the pool in March! They took 6 months to get to that point, but wait it didn't matter! We had no appliances, and the pool had a leak!! After days of continuing to fill it they finally sent someone to check it out and realized the pool had a leak! Can you imagine how frustrated we were??? A few weeks later and they drained the pool to fix the leak after I asked several times what was going on! They finally put the appliances in, but do you think they actually fully put them in? Of course not! The leak was fixed and we had to fill the pool all over again! So do you think they treated the pool and put chlorine in it afterwards?? Of course not! They let it grow algae and get so dirty that it smells!! But don't worry the salesman reached out to me.....to try and sell me some service contract! What a joke!!! You've taken 7+ months to sort of complete my pool, allowed algae to grow in it, provided terrible communication and expect me to purchase your stupid service contract as if you'll do a good job???? So here we are almost in May, still haven't passed city inspection, have frogs living in our algae infested pool and all they care about is their money!! Do not use this terrible company!!! Years ago they built across the street. They blocked the street with their gunite trucks during school pickup. When told to move they refused as it was time sensitive to their project. We ended up moving other cars and routed traffic to the edge of the yard to get around. Later that day I believe their truck turned through the corner of my yard and broke 3 sprinkler heads because of the deep tracks. I did not have video and corporate refused to even discuss. Today they are building at another neighbor that moved in after that incident. I have since installed cameras. I informed the foreman (individual in a riverbend pickup and shirt) of the past incident and to watch his trucks and people because now I have cameras. Not a friendly interaction but frustrating when he escalated further threatening to sue if I touch his trucks. Cameras don't damage and it tells a lot about their character to jump to assumed vandalism when called out for crappy behavior. Feeling extremely ripped-off for spending $180,000 for our pool! Our Excavation was around February 8, 2022. We are still waiting for issues with our decking to be addressed so the pool and decking area is not completely finished (September 9, 2022). Our completion date was supposed to be in June, then it was supposed to be completed in July. Here are in mid September and we still don't have everything completed. We tried using our spa for the first time tonight and now the heater doesn't even work. We have been extremely patient with this company since our family had contracted them for TWO pools, but as of today both still has things that need to be competed. The other pool's decking want even cleaned completely when the pool was done, they had only cleaned around the pool and not the patio (this pool was supposed to be competed in May) which we paid to have marble pacers installed. I would really like to update this with a positive review but so far we have been having problem after problem with this both pools. One of our neighbors is using a different company and we are comparing where they are at with their construction vs ours. I had posted a previous review but removed for the sake of being fair, but the heater that isn't working was the breaking point. We couldn't run the heater for two weeks after the pool itself was completed so when we actually tried to use it, nothing happened. All we got was a "fault" on the heater, my old 15 year old pool and spa was more reliable than this NEW pool and spa. To our knowledge no one from Riverbend had ever run the pool/spa heater to test it out. I will update this review next week, hopefully everything will be addressed and everything will be completed. Update 9/13/22 Spa heater seemed to be working. Spa is heating now but but we will heat it fully to 104+ this weekend to be sure. It needs a new part as well. Update 9/19/22 Filter cover decking was shaped to fit correctly. Update 10/4/22 Nothing has been done still. Not even an electrical box cover has been installed to replaced a cover made of tape. Now the autofill line is shaking when filling and the spa heater stopped working on 10/1 but was worked on 10/4 and seems to be functioning. Update 10/9/22 Electrical box was covered finally but the SPA HEATER Is NOT WORKING AGAIN! Less than a week after someone was out and worked on it and the stopped working again. So far it's only been working 50% of the time we've wanted to use it. Update 10/11/22 Spa heater was fixed again. A service person named Jason was out and did the repair. He was extremely nice and was very quick about it. Update 10/29/22 Decking was cleaned, not exactly like the untouched decking but at this point it's as good as its going to get. Made the rating higher given the price factor, time for completion, and incidents with compensation. I would not use this company again however. read more

I originally rated RBS two stars because of the experience I had with a project manager. I understand they were going through a staffing change at the time; communication during that time could have been better. But I do want to acknowledge what happened after I was finally able to get back in their implementation pipeline. I want to specifically thank Todd Theriault for his design. All people that see my backyard comment that it's perfectly designed for the space. It belongs in a magazine. It's really beautiful. The other person I want to acknowledge is Mike Eastes. He assumed project management responsibility and was incredibly responsive, prompt, polite and ensured everything was perfect. Tom Epting, who did my pool school, is also fantastic. Was really responsive during the first few weeks when I had some problems with the app. Very patient. Adam in service is also fantastic. Brett H. RBS did a good job of building our pool; it was on time and on budget. Our weekly service technician has also been polite and timely. Service for your investment/expense is where they fall WAAAAAAY short. Below is a note I just sent to RBS: I just got off the phone with you "service coordinator"; sorry, I didn't catch her name. As an organization, you have put her in an untenable position of having to tell customers "no" with no option available to her to remedy the situation. I am writing to communicate my absolute frustration and disappointment with Riverbend Sandler (RBS). We called in June for a service call on our Jandy heater (installed by RBS as part of our new pool construction in the summer of 2017). At the time, we were told that it would be 4-6 weeks before a technician could come out to look at it. After 12 weeks and no work from RBS, we reached back out and were told that y'all are still behind on such calls and you would not commit to ANY timeframe to make the call. I understand that you may have more work than you can handle but treating your customer who, in the past 36 months, has paid you upwards of $100,000 between construction and ongoing weekly maintenance, this way should be considered wholly unacceptable by your organization. We went with your company for construction because of your responsiveness in the sales process. That was apparently a bait and switch; love us before you commit then become unresponsive when needed later. I have given instruction to cancel our maintenance contract but to retain the service call. Our heater should be under warranty if based on the initial service call in June as our build wasn't completed until September 2017; less than three years before the service call. read more

Beware of service. Maybe they have all of the business they need right now, but the service department has not been very responsive. I had to wait 5 months for someone to service my pool after the winter freeze just for them to tell me they couldn't make the repair to my Aqua cal. Once I paid $2500 for that repair (which took another 6-8 weeks), I now can't heat my spa without it completely draining. I put in another service ticket in September and they are telling me I need to wait another 6 to 8 weeks for someone in maintenance to even look at it. Even more upsetting is the fact that I have to call to get the ETA updates. After dropping more than six figures on a pool and paying regular maintenance fees I expected better. read more

Neither could identify the problem and one of the two could not speak English. Third time was the charm when I found James. We traded some texts that allowed him to prepare for the service call. He thoroughly examined my heater and fixed the problem. I could have saved myself a lot of trouble had I called Riverbend Sandler first.
