This will be a mixed review. All the chain hotels were full, and VRBO had nothing. If you are looking for the bare minimum, and I'm talking about a comfortable bed and some cold A/C, this place will do. If your looking for more, which we expect, keep driving. We were in La Grange,(yes, the ZZ Top song,) for the Round Top Antique Show. We could stay in Bastrop for $324 a night, or here, for $105 a night. Upon entering the room, everything seemed ok. Beds, shower, A/C, and TV, check. Where's the coffee maker? What? Ok, no coffee in the room, and no free breakfast, which is what we're used to. No problem, Walmart can fix that. We bought a coffee maker and all the accessories we would need. Frozen breakfast sandwiches in the microwave would be good enough. Ok, here we go. The reception on the tv was fuzzy, meaning a so so picture on most channels. The A/C was cold and worked great, but was so loud you had to turn the tv volume up, and then back down when it went off. Beds were comfortable, and we slept well, but look at the picture of the bed frame. Glenda's leg is bruised from walking into that. I bumped it, and cussed, several times. The microwave had no defrost cycle, so breakfast was you get what you get. The shower had great water pressure, and plenty of hot water. When we came back the second night, they had not refreshed the towels. The next morning, I asked the front desk for extra towels, please. When we got back the third night, we had...2 towels. Oh well. The empty Kleenex box was finally replaced the third day. Now, did we have a cool room and a bed for 3 nights. Yes we did. But that's all we had. If that's all you expect, this place will work. But we like bigger and better, so we will book a room way sooner so we can stay elsewhere next time. Thank you for your time. By the way, the antique show is HUGE!! I hopped on a plane to Dallas then drove down with my best friend so that we could experience the lovely antiques shows and hopefully get some great buys and support your community. Instead, we were met with the old bait and switch which we did not fall for. Your local hotel tried to hustle us. I booked my room via Booking.com on 9/15 which was prepaid in full. We arrived at River Valley Motel around 5:12ish today 10/17 to be advised that our room was cancelled on Tuesday 10/15 @ 9:34am. This was untrue. JD at the front desk said we cancelled. I ensured him over and over again we did not. If we did where is my refund and cancellation confirmation. Told him I was looking at my very active reservation. He acted as if he did not care and proceeded to give me a cancellation paper of my cancellation. This cancellation had some inconsistency and red flags. Here are a few 1. It was not my reservation number via booking.com 2. The cancellation was sent to his personal email vs his work email JD was not trying to locate or find out what the issue could be, but said he had several cancellations, and I should call who I booked with and kept trying to tell me OYO hotels and booking.com are the same (flag#3) (all with a smirk on his face - actually the entire time we were there!) I sat in the lobby and called booking.com directly. They confirmed that my booking with the company was active and that they could see it. Then asked to place me on hold while they call the hotel to find out what was going on. While this call was taking place another couple came in. Same exact issue and they were cancelled the same exact day approximately 1 min before our reservation 9:33am. This couple went ahead and booked directly with the hotel all while JD smirked, and his partner did not seem so happy about it. He looked a bit worried. Now the agent is back on my cell. Contact was unsuccessful with hotel. He said there was no answer. I advised him that would be true as there is no phones ringing in the place. We are in the lobby. The guy at the desk overheard and he goes "OH we changed our number and gave me a card'", I read the number to the booking.com agent and they could not call the number as they are only allowed to us the numbers on the hotel file with them and they could not speak to him via my phone because it's against company policy for protection of me and fraud. He said it sound like a bait and switch here. I will email the hotel to find out what is going on. Please give us 30-45min to contact me back. Booking.com emailed me, and I called them back. The hotel never responded and now I was without a room over 6 hours away from my home (415mi). I wasn't surprised by the hotel not responding. I figured if the phone number was incorrect, so is the email. I ended up rebooking to the next town in Columbus over 25 min further and out of the way from my original travel plans. We have used this hotel for two decades. We loved the owner operator and the quirkiness at the hotel. We give three stars for nostalgia only. The new owners are absent and clueless with what is happening now. We stayed there yesterday evening and it took us three tries to get a room. The first one was not clean. The second one was occupied and the person staying there were horrified that we walked in. We finally had a room after the third try. Will not go back until management, new management has their act together. I have attached a room key for documentation and the three tries it took to stay there. in Texas you can get shot going into someone else's residence which probably includes a motel room. P.S. I have no idea why Yelp thinks we are in CA ... we live in SA. read more

BAIT AND SWITCH. We arrived for a 2 night stay that was prepaid through Booking.com. When we arrived at the property we were told that the reservation had been canceled 2 days earlier which was untrue. We contacted booking and the reservation was still active. When booking tried to contact the hotel they had changed the phone number and because of that booking was unable to speak to the property nor did they respond to the email that booking sent to rectify the situation. During the time we were in the phone with booking another party arrived and were in the same situation. Their room was canceled 1 minute prior to our "cancellation " and their reservation was made through Booking.com. They were able to get a room for a higher price. Even though our reservation was canceled we did not receive a credit from the property even though the reservation was canceled. I would not recommend anyone stay at this property because of their unethical practices. The front desk man had a horrible smirk on his face because he knew exactly what he was doing. I almost didn't look at this, because of the BAD review on Yelp. Very nice older place, with lots of floor space and very clean. Not a vacation spot, maybe - there was no in-room coffee, and only coffee in the lobby; but we were there for a reunion so that didn't matter. The PLUS is that the bedside shelves each had a triple outlet above...VERY convenient! read more

We originally had a room here for one night while visiting family and we ended up staying two here instead. It isn't the best hotel I've stayed in but it most certainly wasn't bad! The best thing was the cleaning ladies they are awesome. We have 3 kids all 4 and under so when we travel there's a ton of stuff and toys. They cleaned our room spotless and picked up the toys and lined all the stuffed animals up on the beds!! We travel a lot and have never had that done. We would stay here again anytime! read more

This is by far one of the worse hotels/ motels I've ever stayed it terrible service rude owners and when your trying to book a room the owner gets mad at you and hangs up the phone by far one of the worse places to stay bugs everywhere roaches and the shower stink and had to whip pee off the toilet seats when I first checked in don't stay here read more

Beds were very comfortable, room was nice. Limited continental breakfast but no complaints since the price was the best around.

Stayed there many timrs, and usually several weeks at a time. Sleep great EVERYNNIGHT, room's are very big, staff is great.

My friend and i stayed at this Inn on Feb 17 and we both got a million bed bug bites!!! Worst experience ever. Its too bad i cant attach pictures. We stayed in room 126!! They were everywhere. All over the sheets and headboard. It made both of our arms swollen with the bed bug rash. All over our arms, legs and face. Dont stay here! The room was infested!! read more

couldn't hardly even get a star. ( the star is for the desk person who helped us) This was the most disgusting place ever. I do have to say the management or on-duty person was however extremely nice, apologetic, and as accommodating as he could be, considering.... The room was smelly, dirty, had caked on crud on the sink counter. The rug was FILTHY.... the chrome fixtures all were dirty, open cracks in the tile, and caulking.....closet rack had caked on dirt. (highly doubt it had maid service prior to our checking in). Requested a different room. they only had 'ONE available'. (it was during Round Top's antique days) It was only about 20% better. No one was available on staff to come clean, so we offered. He did provide some supplies so WE cleaned the room. (it'd been nice to have a discounted rate offered!!) It was awful. NO bed bugs that we determined - thankful for that. The place is old, terrible paint job. poorly decorated....very WEAK shower pressure. no in-room coffee pots. but again. kudos to the staff. Night desk guy ordered us a pizza using his personal credit card since we had issues even with the phone working . (we did of course pay him back) NICE people work there. Probably not their fault. Certainly won't be staying there ever again tho. read more

When we first arrived there was a car playing "gangster rap" so loud that the windows shook. I called the front desk and asked them if they would have them turn it down. Management never showed up. The people left. Then when they returned late at night the party began and when to early in the morning. I called and complained again. Still nothing was done. When I went to the front desk to ask for a 50% refund, he refused and asked me what I expected them to do about it!!! My reply was to tell them to stop, if they didn't, then kick them out and if they did not leave to call the police. He just shrugged and offered me ten dollars. We had words and I refused the ten dollars. You safety and comfort is not important to the management of this hotel. As for the room itself, if you want to use any electronic devices bring your own extension cord. The only place to plug in was at the bathroom sink. The T.V. was all snowy and there was a poop stain on the chair. Not even worth the price. read more
