I ate there this morning with a friend and his girlfriend and we got coffee, 2 sides of bacon, and three simple breakfast meals and got charges $70 and were expected to leave a tip for very mediocre food. We visited twice in Riggins - once for dinner and again for breakfast. Both times were yummy. Service was a little slow but our server was honest about the wait and attentive to our needs. My only gripe is the restaurant wasn't as clean as I would like. The bathroom in particular had an abandoned quality to it (grime on the door for example). Do not stop here if you are in a hurry, or hungry, and especially not both. You will still be sitting at your table an hour later, wondering how to reschedule every appointment you are late for because the service here was SO SLOW!!! (and, yes, people passing through Riggins do have appointments further down the road). We arrived at 11:30... and sat for 10 minutes before the sole employee (aside from the cook) came to our table to take our order. We finally got our drinks another 10 minutes later. It took our food a full 30 minutes from the time we ordered to come out of the kitchen at 12:10. When we finished eating, we sat there for another 10 minutes, wondering where the heck the waitress was. I finally wandered to the back of the house myself to ask for the bill. I found her there, feverishly getting plates ready to take out to her only other table, and she was ANGRY with me for mentioning that we needed our bill. Then, she was all peaches and cream when she handed the bill to my husband ( I guess she remembered that she needed to earn a tip). The food tasted good -- kudos to the cook -- but, it was a soggy mess when it came to the table due to the au jus for the French Dip slopping out of the cup onto the plate. Very nice! This is a great little place to grab some lunch. The staff is very nice and the food hit the spot every time we came which... over the three days we were here was a decent amount. What really impressed me was the soup! The cook really knows what she's doing back there because I had three different types and each one was genuinely very good. Size of a side salad anywhere else No kids menu but more than willing to tell us what was on it and charge us $6.25 for a PB&J on white bread.....thats it. No side, milk, nothing. Literally 2 pieces of bread with PB and Jelly! And $6.95 for a kids Cheese pizza with a side charge of $1.00 for Red Sauce! What is that? While traveling through Idaho, we came through Riggings. I heard about River Rock Cafe from Yelp as it has a gew positive reviews. When arriving into Riggings, it's hard not to get caught up with the scenery.   As we pulled up to  the cafe, it looked lime a small house. There is syreet parking and it also has a gravel lot. We walked inside and the mell of homecookig was present. There is a counter you can sit at directly at the door, and two smaller rooms toeither side of the restaurant.   There is art on every wall of people having a blast riding the rapids jey boat racing, big game hunts and vast scenery. The restaurant is clean and the bathrooms are neat and tidy.    We ordered the dish two, two,two. French toasy, eggs, and choice of meat.  Chicken fried steak, and the breakfast burrito. The french toast was caramelized from being griddled which added to its flavor. I aslo ordered a side of Hash browns, all which was great. The breakfast burrito came with a crispy shell. Salsa and sour cream came in a disposable ramekin. The burrito came with hash browns inside with 4 scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese. It was so filling, we couldn't finish it.  The Chicken fried steak came with a huge buttermilk biscuit, two eggs. It was a little oily but overall great flavors. I've eaten here three times in the last year. The food is pretty good. However, the wait has been excessive every time. Yesterday it took an hour to get a single breakfast, and they were still seating people. Without a word to expect an hour or more between placing the order and seeing food. So disappointed with this place! Had heard good things however.....We ordered three pizzas and breadsticks for take out this last weekend. We were told it would take 35 minutes, no prob. When my son did arrive he had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the order. We spent $90 bucks there and when we opened it up back at our hotel, one of the pizza pies was so burnt we could not eat it. The other was under cooked. We will not go back a second time. read more

The atmosphere was nice but I definitely suggest skipping on the "River Rock" pizza. The dark meat chicken was awful. It completely ruined the whole taste of the pizza. If the menu had specified that the chicken was dark meat I would have selected a different option. They do have many choices and I wish I would have selected something else. read more

Just enjoyed a delicious meal from beginning to end. We ordered salmon and chicken parmigiana and every bite was a delight. The rice pilaf was herby and scrumptious as well! Afterwards we treated ourselves with mountain blackberry cobbler, and may I just say, decadent? Every calorie was worth it. Not your typical small-town diner. The chef takes the time to make the usual menu items and also had some nice surprises as well. I had focaccia with chicken, sun-dried tomato, artichoke, and pesto. It was well prepared and delicious. They also make a selection of braided sandwiches with fillings baked inside. My husband's mushroom burger was tasty and we overheard others commenting that it was the best burger they've ever had. Last time here, I had a delicious hot pork sandwich with potatoes and gravy. Passing through town, I am leery of cafes as they are usually hit or miss. Went there with my husband and two toddlers for dinner. The food selection was excellent and it was surprisingly good! The kids menu wasn't our taste so the boys shared a burger and salad which was made from fresh greens (not iceberg lettuce). My husband said the burger was excellent, my Rosemary chicken panini definitely was. All the accompaniments were fresh and delicious!
