I am typing this live while watching the UTSA game vs. Rice. Literally dreading every second in between the play of football as the DJ continues to blast his adolescent music at deafening levels. For the love of GOD, look around you DJ Dude, there is absolutely NO ONE vibing to the drivel you are pumping out, except the captive crowd filling the dance floor grinding away on the imaginary dance floor in whatever place you call reality. Look at your crowd man, this audience is not a bunch of a 21-year old hipsters, the average age is late 20's to early 30's..... goodness man. Turning your visceral sound garbage up to maximum decibel's doesn't make it better but at the very least, swallow your ego & lower the sound level & allow your hostages to converse with one another while you thump out your vulgar sound garbage. To the owner this is 100% on you. Hopefully, these DJ's were your nephews and you were doing the family a solid, or perhaps, this was part of a "Make a Wish" program from the local hospital spawned from good intentions. My group & I are jetting at halftime with a hard pass on the DJ's upcoming obnoxious Halftime Noise Show for the next 20-minutes that will continue to drown out any potential causal conversations between lifelong friends that we could have had. We had our dogs with us so decided to stop by this place since they are super dog friendly. They were actually having a dog event on top of their Texans football game. The place is pretty big with a lot of seating. It is definitely loud inside. Not sure if it was because there were two events going on or if it is always loud in there. They have a full service bar. You can order at your table and your drink is brought out to you. I am not sure if this is a usual thing for them, but they had food for sale inside from another company. It's a very relaxed vibe. Your dogs are allowed inside the icehouse. It is kid friendly. There was a lot of them on a Sunday afternoon. Parking is available on site, but limited due to the location. read more

Way out of my comfort zone, lol. I only came here with my hubby because there was a meet & greet with a UFC fighter, AND the carnitas place next door was closed and we were hungry. Fortunately, at icehouse, in the back patio/seating area there is a taco food truck! We ordered a drink first, mocktail for me that our bartender made so delicious! A mock Paloma. To eat we ordered a torta and carne asada fries! Everything was so delicious. Service at icehouse was wonderful, ambiance is lively and loud. Great place for drinks and they have an awesfood truck located out back where there are more seats and TVs for sports. We came here on a meet and great after UFC Noche. The place has good prices on drinks and the staff are pretty awesome. Like I said lots of tables and seats and a long bar where the staff are on it. Really cool venue, but the service was super disappointing. The menus were outdated, and the staff didn't appear to know what products were actually available. I asked for a specific drink and was told they didn't have it. About 20 minutes later, I saw someone else drinking that exact item. I went back to the bar and asked a different bartender for that drink, who confirmed they did have it--but then served me a completely different drink than the one I ordered. The venue itself has great potential, but better staff training and accurate menus would make a huge difference. I wouldn't recommend it and I won't be going back. read more

I was visiting in town for Thanksgiving and stopped by to check this place out and watch the college football games on Saturday. I was blown away at how awesome this place truly is! The inside space is massive and allows everyone to spread out and is not clustered at all. Plenty of nice seating options that allow for optimal viewing of the games on their numerous screens including a huge center screen with incredible quality. The bar area is very big with plenty of seats and at least 2 bartenders that were very attentive and friendly. They have a wide variety of drink options with a full liquor selection and craft beers on tap. The outdoor area was also very nice and spacious with a huge high quality screen to watch the game. They also have a food truck outside with great options that taste amazing. This is not just a sports bar, it's a full-on club and has a massive dance floor area with a big stage where DJ's and live bands perform so I'm sure that's a ton of fun when that's going on. We came during a not-so-busy time so I'm sure that the service will be a bit slower when they're slammed on busy nights so just be prepared. They also add an automatic gratuity to checks over $100 so keep that in mind. Drinks are reasonably priced for a club. I paid $15 for a very good, strong frozen drink they had that was delicious. Everything here was well maintained, clean and the atmosphere was very friendly and upbeat. I wish I had a place like this close to me because I had such an awesome experience here and will definitely come back when I'm in town again. read more

This place was really cute, and the live music was great. It was my first time visiting and I truly enjoyed the vibe. I thought the large screens would make it an ideal spot for watching football with friends. However, when it came time to pay the bill, I was given a single credit card receipt to sign. I had to request an itemized receipt, which should have been provided with the bill. I should have checked it right then, but it was 2:00 AM, and we needed to leave. We left the signed receipt along with $30 in cash on a total of $147. When I got home and reviewed the itemized receipt, I noticed that an automatic 20% gratuity had been added. If I hadn't asked for the itemized receipt, I would have never known about this charge. I find this practice very sketchy and misleading. I don't recall seeing any signs or notifications about the automatic gratuity. Had I been aware of it, I definitely wouldn't have left that much extra cash. Because of this experience, I don't think I will be returning. I dislike feeling ripped off or deceived. While I understand the reasoning behind protecting bartenders with an automatic gratuity, patrons should also be informed and presented with clear receipts. read more

We are so thankful to the team at River North Icehouse for helping make our military retirement ceremony so special! We had difficulty finding an indoor venue in San Antonio that had the laid-back yet polished bar atmosphere we were envisioning -- especially in the middle of a Texas summer. Most places were either too small, too formal, or too expensive for our needs. River North Icehouse was the perfect fit! They're centrally located in downtown San Antonio, convenient to all the major military bases, and there's a large parking lot directly across the street, which made things even easier for our guests. Especially for our older guests with walking issues who needed close parking or a ramp. The team was incredibly accommodating, allowing us to bring in light snacks and some table decorations to personalize the space. The indoor area had everything we needed -- a large full bar, friendly staff, plenty of seating, clean restrooms, a small stage with an audio system we could connect to, and even a projector screen where we played a video montage during the social hour. What truly stood out was the kindness and flexibility of the owners! Eric was so helpful and responsive leading up to the event, and on the day of, Wayne and Seth went out of their way to assist with setup and make sure everything ran smoothly. They even let us come in early for a ceremony run-through before opening to the public -- something that really helped reduce stress on such a big day. If you're planning an event and looking for a casual but clean and well-equipped venue, we highly recommend River North Ice House. Alright...River North Icehouse is a nice spot. Spacious and offers a variety of entertainment depending on the day. The space is very clean and could be a cute early date night spot for a drink. The drink prices are priced for that area. So it's not cheap because it's more of the Pearl area prices. However it's not crazy priced just priced for the area. They have a spot for you to play a few arcade games and even a Photo Booth. They do have a food truck located outside. Friendly staff and food is good. Go check this place out. Sat in a booth an hour and 10 minutes before a football watch party. 10 minutes before game time and the manager kicks me out of the booth saying it was reserved. No signage saying it was reserved at all. Just him telling me right before kickoff. No other booths just mine, saying they paid in advance, so he says. Again, no signage at all indicating it was reserved. Gave me a shallow apology at that's it! After being there over an hour while all other spaces were taken.
