Steve is very responsive. The job he is working on for me had unexpected issues that needed a different trade, he was quick to find someone to work with so the job wouldn't be held up, which was very important since it involved a shower in an apartment that only has one. read more

I hired this contractor after a basement water leak. The scope included patching and repainting the basement walls, reinstalling the drop ceiling, widening the doorway entrance, and a small paint job in the entrance foyer and near the second-floor fireplace area. I chose him for his Chamber of Commerce membership, strong Google reviews, and because he offered the earliest start date (May 11, 2026) of the three contractors I was considering -- despite being the most expensive. The project felt rushed from the start. For seven straight days, only one employee did the actual work; the contractor himself showed up only on the last day, to clean up. That evening, around 8 p.m. and after dark, I was pressured to pay the remaining ~$5,000 balance (total cost ~$10,000) before I had a real chance to inspect the work. Trusting it had been done properly, I paid. Afterward, I found numerous workmanship defects -- I've documented over 100 photos, a sample of which are below. I didn't feel treated with the professionalism I'd expect, and I'd encourage anyone reading the glowing reviews here to weigh them against this account. I've already filed a small claims case; the court's certified mail to the contractor's listed address was returned undelivered, but I intend to pursue this through other means. Please review the photos and do your own due diligence -- get everything in writing before paying. read more

Hired Steve back in February 2019 to build 2 closets in the basement. He built the wall of one closet partially covering an existing outlet. I asked him to make the wall shorter or move the outlet 3 times. His response was to carve out a piece of the sheetrock exposing the wood stud because the surge protector plug would not fit into the outlet. Besides this Steve was extremely rude to me. He told me not to speak to him in a very nasty way. It cost me extra money to fix his mistake! Never again! Let me clear up a few untruths you stated Steve trying to clean your record up: 1) We did not agree on your 'making covered outlet work' as stated in your rude text message to me'. Covering that outlet OUTSIDE the closet was a violation waiting to happen and needed to be fixed . You said the closet would stop a foot away from that outlet but you built it longer. 2) You were asked to place garbage AFTER job was complete or at END OF DAY when work was done. You made the bags so heavy that I could not carry to the street and I had to rebag them. I asked you to put the bags on the side of the house not in front...2 times..once for you, once for your helper! 3) You were asked if you wanted coffee or water 2 times in a day! You complained how other homeowners did not even offer you a drink of water after working in their homes all day. Why are you not complaining that I asked you what you and helper wanted for lunch and I paid for it for 3 days? 4) You told me NOT to come down into my own basement in my house! 5) Speaking nicely to your wife when you gave me estimate DID NOT translate into your being nice to me. Sad to say you were down right nasty especially before the last day! 6) Rerouting baseboard was only discussed as to whether it was okay to build a closet around it ! There was nowhere else to move the baseboard which mean the closet could not be built. 7) As for the outlet in another closet, you built it straight across to the wall when I asked you to build it so that the outlet would be exposed. After giving me a price you told me it would cost extra to build it shorter. 8) Last day of the job, who would blame me for not wanting to speak to you when you REFUSED to fix the closet on top of the outlet, when you were disrespectful in your attitude and tone of voice! 9) 8 months later review statement.... trouble walking/doing stairs due to medical procedures and finally surgery to ankle...finally the outlet is fixed but it took hours to unlodge from behind the wooden stud/ sheetrock and it cost me extra money! Thank you , Steve!!!! 10) Tops of closet where they meet the ceiling were finished showing spaces to the joists. Your closets were not amazing. Do not text me again because you do not like my answer to your reply! 11) You mean you had to add an additional clause to your Additional Terms because of my behavior? Don't disparage my character....See photo ....Hold Your Questions.....opportunity to ask about covered outlet at end of project AFTER the damage was done read more

I found Steve through a neighbor of mine who he did various home renovation projects for. The process of getting an estimate for the complete renovation of a small full bathroom and a small powder room was very easy. Steve was extremely upfront with everything, including costs and length of time it would take to complete the renovation. He recommended I renovate both bathrooms at the same time in order to save on time and materials. During the time of the renovations, I had an already planned vacation so I trusted Steve to work during this time as well. He provided me with updates on the progress and sent pictures. When the work was completed, I was thoroughly satisfied with his fine work and I highly recommend him for any work you may need done on your home. He works hard at his craft and is honest with everything related to the work. I look forward to working with Steve again in the future. read more

My husband found Steve through his yelp reviews and he decided to contact him. We couldn't be more pleased since the moment we contacted him. He was able to make an appointment within the next two days. I needed a few things to be fixed including light fixtures and electricity. He was very prompt with the time he came and worked quickly and efficiently. He got 4 things done within 20 minutes and asking for more things to be done since I only had an hour of his service. Steve is very personable, easygoing and knowledgeable of his craft. And because of the first visit, my husband hired him yet again a few days later to hide the tv wires behind the wall and it came out amazing. He is very flexible with time and very reasonable with his price. I will be hiring Steve for the next project that I do. read more

Steve was honest and knowledgeable. He came in and gave us an estimate without making us feel pressured into choosing him to do our repairs. When he came to fix our entry way he was on time and did a great job. Couldn't have asked for more. Would definitely recommend. read more

Steve did a great job in my home at a reasonable price and he was quick, clean and trustworthy. He painted, spackled and fixed holes, cracks and even fixed my large pantry cabinet in my kitchen. Every aspect of the various projects I had him do came out spectacular. I'm selling my home and the buyers actually commented on how beautiful my ceilings were without me pointing out that they were recently a mess. Steve is very professional but also personable. When something looked different in the lighting at night that I didn't notice during the day, he came over the next night and made it perfect - no questions asked - just did the work needed! He even pointed out some of the extra things he touched up but insisted that I couldn't pay him more even though it made a nice difference near my staircase. The front door was repainted to a dark brown and it came out magnificent. It's actually hard to show you the work in pictures because it all came out so beautifully - the only picture that does any justice is my "new" front door! read more

Ritz Renovation - Beautiful work done by Ritz - General Contractors Near Me - Staten Island, New York

We had a wonderful experience w Steve at Ritz Rennovations. Firstly, unlike most contractors, he is a great communicator and lets you know exactly what will be happening and how long it will take. He always shows up on promised days, and if something changes he will call or text. Overall, our project took a little longer than a week and I am so satisfied with the results. Most importantly, all work was thoroughly checked by Steve during and at the end to make sure it was up to par, my belongings were protected from all the dust and paint, and our family never had to haunt him down checking why something wasnt done. Thank you, Steve, for your professionalism and great work. Highly recommend! read more

Excellent renovation under a very tight timeline! Steve helped me to renovate my father's living room and dining room as a surprise while he was away on a trip. We had just one week to accomplish a ton (rip off outdated wood paneling all throughout the living space, replace interior doors, put up crown molding and baseboards, build a new mantle, update lighting fixtures). Mission accomplished and Dad was super surprised! Steve was professional, detail-oriented, and worked as hard as he could to meet the tight deadline. Old houses often present weird issues, and Steve tried his best to come up with solutions. Steve and his crew were punctual, respectful and trustworthy, and I felt safe leaving my elderly mom at home while running errands during construction, which says a lot. Steve is a smart and efficient contractor - he organizes, plans and communicates well with his crew - and that is a big asset when working on a construction project with many moving parts. read more
