I have a strange relationship with this Rite Aid. It's not the closest one to where I grew up, but back when it was a Thrifty, we would come for the ice cream sometimes. The Rite Aid transformation happened whenever it happened, and despite that, this Rite Aid seemed less like a drugstore and more like a large convenience store or small general store. Of course, most Walgreenses and CVSes feel like that now, but this was back in the day, and it was a little bit surprising. I've bought replacement Christmas-light bulbs here more often than I'd like to mention. (Our family continued using the old large incandescent bulbs long after everyone else had switched to faux icicle strings and early LEDs, and Rite Aid was the only place we could find the colored bulbs in the right size.) I've also bought a rake, dill (on sale--for some reason they often have sales on spices), water balloons, water guns, super bouncy balls, and all kinds of candy from here. The store looks like a supermarket without the produce. It's been years since I've come for the original ice-cream experience, although I did buy a half-gallon of Thrifty ice cream from the freezer in 2020, at the height of the pandemic. There never seem to be enough employees working, and the ones who are working tend to take their time. They're friendly enough, and just based on the strange questions and customer behavior I've seen here, I don't think this is the most enjoyable place to work. Did I mention the candy? Like most places these days, they have a really wide selection, especially of the largest sizes. But if you come immediately after Halloween, you'll be amazed at just how badly they want to get this candy off their shelves. As for management, your store feels unsafe. Idk if you're trying to cut costs but you really need a security guard at the front. A bunch of druggies coming in and out. Makes your customers feel unsafe. And we are already paying an arm and a leg for something we can get at target for half the price. DO BETTER. read more

My dad always took me to thrifty's for the ice cream and I am glad that Rite Aid has rescued and maintained the ice cream part of thrifty's . Went to Rite Aid the other night for a pint of cherry chip ice cream. We usually purchase here as it is our local Rite Aid. There were two employees Margie at the register, which had great customer service and was helping a few customers at a time. They had to page this other employee a woman who gave me my "pint" I didn't notice till later on that week she kept on insisting I paid for a triple, but I always purchase the pint. I guess she insisted on a triple inside of a pint container. Nevertheless disappointed in the quality of customer service by this employee. You messed with my ice cream. (Whaaa) read more

Being at the Quad makes this place very convenient to pick up items you normally pay less for at walmart. You can come grab a cool drink of water or beverage after hours of walking and window shopping. You can end the afternoon with a nice scoop of Rite-Aid (thrifty) ice cream. They also carry medicine, household items, school supplies, food and candy but not cheap. The parking is excellent and service usually good. The AC and cold water fountain is great on a sunny day. read more

Stopped here for a few items and ended up grabbing a few groceries I needed. I am trying to stay away from the markets. The lady working the cashier register was wiping everything down, including the credit card machine! Kudos! That's the first time I've see anyone do this in the past few weeks. Great job Rite Aide! I love this rite aid, I haven't ran into any workers who hate their jobs yet. Their pharmacy is a little slower than most around our city but however they usually make up in customer service. I usually get the older Caucasian gentleman (idk his name) and while he's not overfriendly (smiling) he does greet you when he sees you. He does his work in a normal pace and he doesn't brush you off to get to the next customer. There's a Asian lady who's very nice, she does her job very well. She makes sure you understand how & when to take Your medications. (Not a lot of pharmacists actually do their job making sure you understand) But besides that and the store being clean and the aisles not being trashed this store has saved me so many times! The fact their open late at night is sooo convenient! I've had to come here twice for emergencies due to my children being sick and any parent knows how serious that is. Nothing is more sad than watching your sick little babies suffer from colds and flu. This store saved my kids from stomach aches also, all of my children suffered from this when they're we still infants and the medicines I was recommended by the pharmacy worked like magic! Happy baby and happy parents! lol this will always be my go-to store when I have "emergencies." read more

Last night around 6:30 p.m. was the first time I went to this Rite Aid since I moved to Whittier. It was like shopping in a 3rd world country. Not one person on the floor or upfront to answer questions. There was one (1) Cashier for a line of over 20 people. I waited 35 minutes to buy a half gallon of ice cream (melted by the time I got home Thanks Rite Aid). During the long wait two different store personnel approached the Check-out registers, shuffled some papers and left. They didn't look up at the customers and they didn't smile. Slow. Everyone in line was talking and they were really upset. All of the employees at this store seemed like they hated every minute of being there. When I paid for my ice cream the Cashier didn't ask me if I wanted a bag - the entire carton was wet and there was water all over the counter! Then I asked for a plastic bag and she had the nerve to charge me $.10 so I had to break a $20.00 bill to buy a 10 cent bag. Super-bad customer service. Super-bad employee attitude. Hey store manager - staff your store properly and hire people who are thankful that they have a job! There are dozens of competing stores within 10 minutes of your store. read more

Ugh. Worst store ever. I had to go there this morning because I was out of contact lens solution. It wasn't even 5:00 am when I got there. First of all, the prices at this store are outrageously high. $16.99 for the CHEAP STORE BRAND contact solution? That is ridiculous! Every item I walked past was easily 20-50% more expensive than Walgreens. Then, when I get to the register, the cashier has an obvious attitude as she is waiting on the woman in line in front of me. Every action (ringing up that woman's purchases, bagging them, etc...) was done with an attitude, like she didn't want to be there. As that woman is swiping her card, the cashier calls the manager up front. Now it's my turn. As she is ringing me up, the manager arrives. His name is Justin. The cashier tells him that it is past time for her break and they both sit there discussing her break while I just stand there. I wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. They couldn't hold off on their conversation until I was done? I was in a rush but did they care? Of course not. The only bright spot was the security guard at the front. He was a nice, young man that had a sweet disposition, greeted me when I came in and thanked me for shopping there when I left. It is sad and says something about the cashier when the security guard has far better customer service than she does. This place is ok if you are desperate and it's the middle of the night. Maybe that's why they think they can get away with the high prices and piss poor customer service. But from now on, there's a 24 hour Walgreens in Bellflower. It is so far out of my way and so much further than this Rite Aid but that is where I will be going from now on. And you should too. read more

This Rite aid is located in the quad next store to Ralphs. Its a big store and has the normal stuff a CVS would have too. I don't come here to do any shopping because they don't have all the things I need and the prices are higher than a grocery store. I only come here strictly for ice cream! Thrifty ice cream is the best ice cream. It cannot get better than this. A normal carton is about $5 but sometimes they have a special for 2 for $6. That's the time to go. My favorite is the chocolate malt. It has little malt balls in it with the chocolate ice cream. The quality of this ice cream is just way better than any store brand. They also have a spot to get scoops of ice cream with cones if you want it right away. They really need more people working though because there is always just one person at the register and the line gets really long. The line always goes so slow with every person the cashier is helping. read more

I went into this store today and my card was declined after having just used it at another store in the quad . I told the girl there must be something wrong with the chip reader. She ran it two more times said I needed to call my bank. I walked next door to vallarta market and my card went through just fine. So the chip readers don't work here and the staff is unaccountable for the faulty equipment . From the sound of it the other card readers were having issues as well. read more

Rite Aid has a wide variety of items which is convenient. They just remodeled the store last month and the store looks a lot nicer and neater now. I recommend signing up for their rewards card (or whatever they call it), it saves you money on their already low prices. A definite PLUS of Rite Aid is that they carry Thrifty's Ice Cream. If you're not familiar with Thrifty's Ice Cream, do yourself a favor and pick up a flavor that you like. You will not be disappointed. If you're lucky, you'll catch those little tubs when they're on sale (2 for $5!). My only gripe is that I wish they carried fruit by the foot. Oh well, Ralph's is right next door. Rite Aid has a huge parking lot that they share with other stores in the quad, so finding a parking spot is easy and painless. There were no long lines at the registers, the minute there were more than 2 customers behind me the lady at the cash registry picked up the phone and asked for another line to open. The pharmacists kept everybody waiting for over an hour. They keep saying come back 10 minutes later, it's not ready. Why can't they just give an exact time to come back? I could have left and gotten other things done, and then come back if they told me to come back in am hour. But because they said 10 minutes, 10 minutes, I couldn't even leave rite aid..and ended up staying here for over an hour. I just had gum surgery and 2 teeth removed and waiting for pain reliever and antibiotics.. they keep me waiting for over an hour.. wanna go home and rest. I stopped by around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday to pick up a few things. The new store arrangement does look neater but I found myself completely lost looking for pantyhose and lip gloss. It took me way too long to find both. I attempted to ask someone up front to direct me but there was only one person at the register. I stood in line after finding the items on my own & noticed a second checker was needed because the line was getting really long & the first checker wasn't doing anything about it. I decided to call the store while standing in line hoping I could give that feedback to a manager. The first checker had to answer the call! I told her I thought it was time for a second checker & she said, "well I don't have a second checker" and then hung up the phone! I couldn't believe how rude she was! When I got up to the register I confronted her about it. She told me I sounded exactly like the pharmacist who calls her often to tell her a second checker is needed. Apparently she observes her from the back of the store. I told her I didn't appreciate how she spoke to me & she needs to be careful because I am a customer. She apologized and asked me not to 'take it personally.' I have observed long lines in rite aid many a time. Seems like the store is not staffed appropriately & if that checker was so rude to me I can only imagine there are unresolved issues with the staff that are not being managed appropriately. These things need to be addressed by store management!!! read more

THANK YOU ROSA!!!!!!! I was having an awful day that basically ended with me getting locked out of my home and my phone died while i was trying to get to a friends house. It was 3AM and i was freezing. I stopped in to see if i could possibly charge my phone and i was turned down because of store policy. Then this lovely lady named Rosa followed me out of the store and handed me her charger and showed me where there was an electrical outlet in the parking lot. SHE DID NOT BREAK ANY STORE POLICY! IF SHE GETS ANYTHING BUT PRAISE FOR THIS SO HELP ME GOD.... Anyway after charging my phone for a bit i returned her charger to her in the store and she insisted i continued using it until it was fully charged. I politely declined and told her it was really cold outside and jokingly explained "i don't even have a heater in my car because racecar". She didn't get it but chuckled anyway. Again she followed me out of the store and i assumed she was putting the charger in her car. Apparently i parked next to her. While my car was warming up my car about to leave she tapped on my window and of course i rolled it down. She handed me a blanket and wouldn't take no for an answer. This woman is an angel. Completely turned my mood around and showed me that there are still good people in this world. THANK YOU ROSA. DON'T EVER CHANGE. And to Rite Aid GIVE THIS WOMAN A RAISE!!! I used to enjoy my visits here a few years back. Decided to run in several weeks ago to purchase my favorite Peter Vella wine. The young boy, the sales clerk asks for my Identification? I asked why! My looks appear older than 30 and my gray hair matches at least 50! And I'm very close to 70! What I don't like is my id spread out across these computers, and what data are they collecting anyway?! It can't be proof of age! I go another time and there's an older clerk and she doesn't ask. I go a third time and I get the mgr that the young boy had to call over on my first visit when I requested an explanation. The manager gives me her indignant attitude and processed the transaction like she knew she had the power of the Whitehouse president! I realized her funk was all about me having the nerve to question them why? That's just poor customer service! So here I am back in the store now, and she gives me a lil "hi sweetie" greeting as she completed my transaction! The previous clerk had already requested my id and she had to undo an overcharge! I want to know what data are they retrieving from your driver's license to input with their computers?! I'm sick and tired of these corporations demanding data And what gives them this entitlement? This goes to ALL rite aids I've been to in the whittier and brea vicinity but this location in particular: when your associates are nice they're REALLY nice but the majority of them are rude af and just seem bothered to be at work but the most annoying and disturbing thing is EVERY SINGLE TIME I get a scoop of ice cream and it comes to $1.99 they ALWAYS stare at me and ask me "do you want your penny back?" And so at first I felt too stupid to say yes but after about the 12th time I figured you know what if 100 customers a day are bullied into leaving their penny behind that's over $30 a month that goes into rite aids pocket for NOTHING. So I started putting my foot down and saying "yes" to that question. Well tonight this old lady was at the ice cream and taking forever to serve customers so this other lady comes to i guess help. Anyway she finishes my transaction and starts serving someone else while I'm waiting for my penny then looks at me and says "you're done...unless you're waiting for your penny" and gave me the dirtiest look for wanting my penny. It shouldn't matter how much my change is give me my receipt and change NO MATTER WHAT. So rite aid either make the scoop $2 even or train these people to just give us our change. Period. read more

The only reason i give this rite aid a one star is because the pharmacist who took my prescription. I handed it to her and she automatically said she had none of the three prescriptions. Sbe then called me back saying she tried twice to get a hold of my dr to approve of the three prescriptions and could not and said she would not refill it and said i needed to pick up my prescription paper. I called my dr and within the hour a new nice pharmacist called and said she had two of the meds but not one. One of the prescriptions was Norco which would be ready within a few days, another for nausea and another for hearburn n digestion. i recently had my gallbladder removed and the pain was equivilant to having a baby. the pain was debilitating and came back. vomiting and nausea forba week. im still figuring out what agrees with me and doesnt. SHE LIED TO ME SAYING SHE HAD NONE OF THE PRESCRIPTIONS! How was that if the other pharmacist said she had the other two?
