I had one of the most degrading experiences I've ever had at a pharmacy at this Rite Aid location. The pharmacist looked at me like I was a drug addict or trying to abuse my medication--right in front of a line of customers. It was humiliating, judgmental, and completely uncalled for. What they didn't know was that my original prescription for 1 mg doses was written by my nurse practitioner, and after my condition worsened, my doctor approved an increased dosage. I followed medical advice, nothing more. But instead of treating me with dignity, the pharmacist made assumptions without context and acted like I was doing something shady. Then, when a new prescription was sent in for a lower dose, they only allowed me to pick that up and didn't bother to explain anything. I wasn't even told there was a 1 mg version available. There was zero communication, zero compassion, and a complete lack of professionalism. People's prescriptions often change--doses go up or down depending on medical need--and pharmacists should know better. But the way I was treated made me feel like I was being profiled or criminalized just for following doctor's orders. Honestly, no wonder Rite Aid went bankrupt. This kind of disrespectful and incompetent treatment is exactly why people are taking their business elsewhere. read more

WHAT HAPPENED? I went to RA to purchase eye drops, an ace wrap, and a bottle of wine. I don't know what happened to that place. I felt like old Mother Hubbard, so I went to the cupboard and found nothing. When top management makes decisions out of fear, you'll fail.. Case in point: A Sacramento Rite Aid sold liquor to an underage boy and got caught. Instead of management implementing additional safety measures such as educating their sales associates on what to look for, instead they directed all stores to ID everyone from 21 to 100. That my friends is a prime example of poor management. Maybe that's why the cupboards are bare and now one is near...Please close the store and give Gold River residents another choice. Horrible Rite Aid. When you walk in it smells of pesticides. Shelves are empty. Pharmacy is the worst. First they say it's too soon to refill, when you tell them it's not too soon they say they don't have the quantity prescribed. When you ask for whatever quantity they have since it's less than what I need, they say they need the doctor to change the RX and I need to call and make that happen. I will not be returning. wish I would've listened to all these bad reviews before I called and had an unpleasant conversation with the pharmacist. Didn't catch her name, but will not be going back here.. I travel from Yuba City for work so I thought it would be convenient over the weekend to get my prescription sent to Golden River since it's closer to my residence.. I asked the pharmacist if we can switch it over and she said we'll have to see, then asked me what the prescriptions were so once I listed them, she told me that two of them were unable to be filled until Monday and one of them could get filled by tomorrow so conveniently I said I will get the one filled tomorrow but the ones that want to get filled on Monday. I would like to hold off because I can just go get those in the city the same exact day. Now I'm gonna be going completely out of my way to pick up a prescription that I could've already picked up tomorrow if I would've just traveled an hour out of my way. Not to mention when I told the pharmacist she copped an attitude and told me there's nothing that she can do about it. I have to call the other pharmacy and then hung up on me.. really wish I got her name because I'm so disappointed, I have never been treated like this at the pharmacy and I will definitely not be going back to this one. read more

I love this pharmacy!! I was headed to a country in Asia earlier in the year for a few months and needed some travel medications. I'm not familiar with how drug prescriptions cost or anything about insurance and expected a big bill. I went down after my doctor's appointment dreading the worst but it turned out a thousand times better. The pharmacist manager (Tim!! Thx) was able to put a coupon card on one drug that I guess wasn't covered and saved me a hundred dollars. Not only that, but the pharmacy co- manager/assist James also reduced one to like $60 off!! A steal!! It got even better as the girls who rang me out were sooooo cheerful! I didn't get their names but it was a tall young woman as well as a shorter, girl with black hair. Tim also recommended some shots I should get before I left. My doctor did not mention anything about shots???? He and his intern Kyle were able to print out CDC guidelines and were very professional. I called my doctor back about the shots just in case and he said "oh, yeah you should get those". What!! I went back the next day i did not see Tim but Beth who rang my shots out was so cheerful and helpful it was great! I got a few shots, saved lots of money on medication, and had a very fun time overseas! I did not get sick and everything was great!! read more

She was able to find exactly what the customer wanted, including a substitute for an out of stock item! All the while, displaying the kindness and patience that we all need. Worst pharmacy ever! They lie about not having inventory, but then change their minds if you ask to speak to a supervisor. State that they haven't received prescriptions from the doctor when you have proof that they did! They have the rudest techs that tell you "the pharmacist won't help you". You have to call and ask then to fill an RX after they receive it from Dr.'s office otherwise it might be days! Worst pharmacy ever! read more

Do not ever go here. NEVER EVER. One of the workers WHOSE NAME IS CHRIS racially profiled my mom and accused her of stealing when she walked out with nothing. The alarm went off when she entered the building AND when she exited, clearly indicating that the monitor was BROKEN. He checked her bag and everything, which PROVED that she stole nothing. He still belittled her and embarrassed her in front of a bunch of customers and told her to never come back. I would give this place zero stars if I could and if I wasn't working on myself I would go up there and cause a mf scene. Luckily I'm not that person anymore and I just write reviews. I walked into this store holding an item I wanted to return. I was holding the item in plain sight, the manager and cashier saw me walk in with it .The manager named Scott accused me of stealing, refused to hear otherwise, and refused to return my item. As a black man, I felt racially profiled. I have never been treated this way before. I am 100 percent sure I am on camera following the rules of this establishment. I will be contacting corporate. I am prescribed a small amount of hydrocodone for severe migraines ( about 30 pills every 3 months). I have had no trouble filling this rx for years and since my local Rite Aid pharmacy was out of stock, they referred me to the Rite Aid in Rancho Cordova. The pharmacy refused to fill my rx based on the fact that they do not fill pain meds for migraines. They said there are other meds I should be taking instead and to talk to my doctor. I spent 36 hours in intense pain b/c they refused to fill my rx. I called my local pharmacy and explained the situation and they were shocked. Luckily they got a shipment in two days later and filled my rx promptly. I cannot believe that a pharmacy would refuse a legitimate rx. I have reported this to the board of pharmacology b/c my medical needs were denied, and mostly b/c I was given medical advice from a technician that has no education/or license to advise me or change my medical care. read more

I've had great customer service at the pharmacy section. So yay! I give them four stars. But 95% of the time, I'm here for other stuff. Today, I had some time to kill waiting for my daughter to finish up at the dentists. I browse aisles looking for the one thing that I didn't think I needed but now I really need. Does anyone else ever find these things too? So I get to the register and this is where the fun begins. About half of the stuff that I bought was "mistagged" or "the sign was not on the right item". WTF??!? I was told that the iced tea that I brought up (look, I don't even drink bottled iced tea, but I thought it would serve in a pinch of company dropped in) was not on sale, and couldn't I read the small print that stated that the size was 20 oz. and not the gallon? Grrr. Them are fightin' words. The next item was the sandwich bags. Again, I didn't really NEED them, but it is a pain when you run out of them and there was a sign that said BOGO or some other acronym implying that if you buy one, you get the other one free. So I grabbed two boxes. At the register, it did not compute. Stupid signs again! And it is all my fault for not reading the $%^*@ fine print. The manager needs to remove the stick from his butt. Seriously. He hates his job and makes it apparent to the customers. He insinuated that it was my fault but they gave me the sale price because they made a mistake. This is of course after he humiliated me in front of a couple who were waiting patiently behind me throughout the whole ordeal. I've used this store as my pharmacy until a Walgreens opened up closer to my home. This is a really nice, serviceable store that has convenience items as well. If you need harder-to-find braces, wraps, bandages, etc, this is the place to go to. The staff is friendly and just the right amount of helpful. The location is really convenient. It's in a strip mall with a Bel Air, a Starbucks, other restaurants including a Jack's Urban Eats and Il Forno Classico, a Yogurt Monkey, a dry cleaners and a shoe repair, among other shops. So it's part of a one-stop-shopping experience. It's a nice place you should check out. read more

Average local drug store. Came here to pick up some soap, paper towels, and such. Had to stand in line for almost 25 minutes while one checker assisted customers while she asked over the loud speaker for additional checkers. Meanwhile three employees laughed and joked standing nearby watching. This place needs a better check-out system and until then, will shop elsewhere. I walked past a Garden of Eden-like plant section out front that welcomed me like Eve herself. Carmex was on sale. Classic Hot Fries on the rack. AND FOR $1?! I want to start by saying that I have never used Rite Aid for prescriptions. I go in whenever I'm already at that shopping center and need something from there. The store is fun to browse and they have quite a few things you can easily buy without having walked in for them. Their cashiers really lack personality though. I guess by that point they feel they don't have to put any effort into anything as you are already going to pay for what you've got in your hands. I don't think that's OK. Customer service should be important for any establishment from beginning to end. read more

So we went into this location around 7pm on Tuesday 1/22/19. There was a female manager who was extremely rude. Not only did she belittle her employees right in front of customers she was rude and short with her customers. She seemed annoyed that she had to stop what she was doing to go to the back to get change for her employee. We will never be returning here. You don't treat your employees like that and you especially don't treat your customers like that!! You should treat your employees as customers and customers as guests! The pharmacy daily hours of operation are perfect and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Being open on Sundays is also an added plus.

I give this place five stars because it has ice cream and there never was a bad problem there. There is an area where can get your blood pressure checked, it does not hurt that much. It's cheap and sometimes they have very good sales. I do like looking at the lipstick thingies and the makeup and the Chapstick.area. It's not a good place for Xmas presents for children cause there's not many toys. It's also very peaceful there. read more

I've been a customer here for 15 years. The pharmacy staff care about delivering good service and make a point of knowing thieir customers. I appreciate seeing friendly faces here, and they're helpful whenever I have questions. The store and pharmacy often seem to be understaffed, which can be frustrating, especially when there is a corporate office located next store. This review is for a poor fellow named Alex who was the cashier during my visit today. I wanted to give him kudos for maintaining great customer service and not taking the bait when an incredibly rude customer chewed him out for no reason. She seemed to be upset that maybe today's Father's Day and it couldn't be all about her? Not sure what happened there, but she berated him for the speed of his service and how there wasn't another person checking people out (there was another person helping customers at the ice cream counter). I think we may have waited in line about 3 minutes tops? What she said was over the top unnecessary and I wish I could have said something to her - but hey, we pick our battles. Anyway, I hope a manager/supervisor sees this and passes it on. As a reminder, people - don't be a dick when a store is understaffed (even though they weren't particularly busy). Rite Aid always seems to have a bunch of stuff, but never what I need :/ I just came in for some wrapping paper and couldn't even find it. I asked a couple different employees where I could find wrapping and tissue paper and nobody could figure out where to direct me. I ended up finding the section where the wrapping paper should be and discovered only two (ugly) rolls. During the Christmas season, I definitely expected there to be more selection than this. I don't usually shop at rite aid to be honest, but I was pretty disappointed at this particular visit. I've had some good visits to Rite Aid though. Sometimes at Rite Aid stores I find what I'm looking for I suppose. You have to sometimes with all the stuff in there. But usually only for very general things. I figured wrapping paper would be general enough to find a large enough selection of it! :( Oh well, it didn't really sway my stance on Rite Aid because I don't go that often. This Rite-Aid has a pretty big shopping center parking lot that's not to bad to get into from Sunrise. There are a descent number of registers up front. This store is pretty good size as far as Rite Aids go. They shelves were well organized and stocked. The one and only item I was looking for today was a tie, and unfortunately, they did not have any. Everything else - socks, underwear, shirts, jackets. I think you could probably outfit an entire apartment here, but I guess that's the niche drug stores are looking to fill now. read more

Worst experience with a pharmacy ever! Went to pick up my sons Epi-pen, pharmacy proceeds to tell me my insurance isn't active! Which I knew was incorrect but I followed through and called my insurance who verified it has been active ALL year. I call the pharmacy they verify it is active.. I go BACK a SECOND TIME because they tell me to come pick up. I get there and they tell me they won't have in stock until Monday. WTF! All they said was sorry. Asked them to run through saving card for my prescription, but they said they were too busy and will work on it later as if it was causing them trouble. 2 hours later, came to pick up my prescription and they still haven't run my prescription under my saving card. Waited for another 20 minutes at the pharmacy for them to run it under my saving card. Don't think I would ever want to come here again with these kind of customer service. read more

I usually go in here for little things, which I probably will continue to do, but I do not recommend coming here to fill your prescriptions. I have been getting them filled here for several years and i've had a few minor problems but the one that happened today was the straw that broke the camel's back. My husband went to pick up my prescription and they asked him for $704 and some odd cents up front like he was buying a bottle of water. They mentioned something about med-cal or medicaid "upping their costs" and that we needed to pay that amount before they will cover our prescriptions...WE DO NOT HAVE MEDI-CAL! We have United Healthcare and have had it for at least 3 years! So, I called to find out what the deal was, and the woman on the phone was explaining to me that for the last 2 months they have been billing "Health Net" and that they had no record of my UHC on file. Obviously, I argued, but not to belittle her, just to belittle the situation at how this was even possible. I gave her my UHC information and she called me back and said that she was told that I had not had coverage through them since December 2013...what the crap? The only thing I did differently was submit a refill for a prescription that I have been getting for well over a year now. So I called UHC and just as I suspected, we are and have been active. The only thing that changed on their end is that the prescription service at which they used changed in December 2013, so they called and gave them the Caremark Rx information. The woman I spoke to with Caremark came back from putting me on hold and told me that the problem was resolved, but also said that the pharmacy told her that this was the first time they had filled a prescription for me and that they had no record of this on file....So how was I able to get it for the last year without any issues? 1.) How did they lose my information as a long time customer? 2.) How did they replace it with an insurance we don't use? 3.) How did they end up billing that insurance for the last 2 months? 4.) Why did they claim they had never filled a prescription for me before, but had stated that 2 months ago they started billing Healthnet?? and finally... 5.) How was I able to get my prescription filled for the last year despite the "last 2 months of Healthnet" and supposedly had been using an old prescription service that had been out since Dec. 2013. I don't know what happened on their end, but someone screwed up big time, and that is completely unacceptable. I have seen them talk to other folks who came in to pick up their prescriptions and had been told there was a problem right then and there. I personally called in to make sure my prescription was ready, and was not prepared to get a phone call from my husband that they asked him for $704 up front...if there was a problem, that is something they should have mentioned when I called to make sure it was ready. I have been to this store hundreds of times over the past several years, so I think I'm well qualified to write an opinion! As others have stated, the customer service in the pharmacy & their turnaround time are top notch. Unfortunately, the associates that work the registers in the front of the store are awful!!! Most of them don't smile, don't ask if you need help and some are downright rude. I wanted to use a 50 cent Rite Aid coupon that I got off a pack of Goldfish crackers. The crackers were expiring in a few days, so I got a pack that weren't expiring for a few months. I get to the register and a lady named "Sandra" says I can't use the coupon unless I'm buying the expiring crackers!!!! I can't imagine the corporates want to sell expired food. So she proceeds to argue with me at the register while the line behind me gets very long. Well, she won. She refused to honor the coupon. I called the manager when I got home and he said she should have accepted the coupon. I won't be returning to that store. read more

I want to commend Noora Ahram, pharmacy manager at the Rite-Aid in Rancho Cordova/Gold River. As a lifelong sufferer of eczema, I've tried countless products to bring relief to my skin as flare-ups happen. Over the past couple of years I've gone through three dermatologists, spending thousands of dollars on their services and the drugs they suggest, be they Rx or OTC. When I showed my then-rashy left hand to Noora a couple of months ago when I was picking up yet another prescription, she recommended an OTC moisturizing cream called CeraVe. No doctor had ever mentioned that one. Well, it worked wonders and still is. Nothing else had brought me such relief. While I want to shame all those doctors for never recommending that product, I want to give Noora a big thank you and hug for her professional -- and free! -- advice. Instead of checking me out the girl with the short blond hair spent the whole time complaining to the other cashier about how she answered the phone rudely and that the next time that person that was on the other line comes in she will purposely get in trouble.
