So frustrated. This used to be a good pharmacy. Ever since Elvin Evangelista, pharmacist,left the place has had a high turnover of both pharmacists and techs, serious disorganization, poor technical performance, and a poor service attitude. It seems like they don't like their jobs and only a few people there even really know what they're doing. They used to have all of my prescriptions automatically renewed by the system and things went like clockwork. These techs don't even seem to know how their own system works, and the pharmacist cannot be bothered if he does know either to train them or to do it himself. They sent me a text that said my refill was ready, but I was sick (surprise!) so I couldn't get in to pick it up. Since it included a controlled substance it couldn't be delivered. Today I received a text that said if it wasn't picked up today it would be returned. They called me today and spoke with me directly on the phone, and I said I would come in today. I couldn't get someone to drive me earlier than 7:30, so I arrived at that time, and they told me I would have to come back for my Rx tomorrow. When I got there they only had one of my Prescriptions and told me I would have had to be there before 7PM if I wanted it today. I told the tech I didn't understand why the person I spoke with earlier hadn't told me that it was so time sensitive down to the hour . They said she was new but that has always been their policy. As it turned out they had returned the wrong Rx anyway according to the texts they sent me. I've been their customer for 7 years, and I have to take a load of attitude from both the tech and the pharmacist (at the same time-that's right-these people double teamed me over this both talking at me at the same time) because I don't know their internal policy for a circumstance that I've never been in before, and I just spoke with them about today (they did not advise me about their stringent policy when I told them I was coming in today just this morning!) I think it's time to take my business elsewhere. read more

The only thing good about this pharmacy is that Casey works there. I have never had as many problems in my life as I have trying to get my prescriptions from this rite aid. WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY! Horrible customer service!! Not only are most of the cashiers rude, even downright mean, but the pharmacist herself is awful!! As I was walking out of the store this morning after a highly disturbing exchange, the pharmacist called out, "Mam, I'll be happy to transfer your prescriptions to another pharmacy, just let me know." It was so obvious she chose this unbelievable manner of communication to embarrass me. It didn't work. Having a brain, I knew the only one who should be embarrassed was her! The entire experience felt like an exercise in one up-man-ship. Absolutely unbelievable and downright bizarre. Don't even think about questioning anyone in the pharmacy nor showing the slightest bit of disapproval. They will jump down your throat so fast you won't know what hit you. That is precisely what happened to me this morning. And it wasn't the first time, although it was definitely by far the absolute worse time. I was left shaking in tears. And Rite Aid management might want to take note! They lost a highly lucrative account this morning. My husband requires two injections daily of a very expensive drug. Yesterday we found out he has to be on the medication for the rest of his life. We will be taking our business elsewhere! Here's what happened: I called in the medication refill on the automated system. I went in to pick up the refill at the time given. The clerk told me it was too early to get the refill. (An insurance issue.) I asked if I could get just one dose. (This is a non-addictive, injectable anti-coagulation med my husband must have at a specified time twice daily. A matter of life or death. No exaggeration!) The clerk said she could not give it to me. Her pharmacist had just left to lunch! I explained the entire situation to the clerk -- that I only had one injection left and would be back the minute they opened the next day. It would be ready, she said. 9:04 a.m. the next day, this morning, I was there to get the medication. The first words out of a new clerks mouth were "no, too early, don't have it." Naturally my response was somewhat freaked out. "What, wait, you don't understand," were more or less the words that flew out of my mouth. I was noticeably irked, distressed, totally freaked out. Rather than ease my worried mind, as Cloney's or Lima's would have done, this clerk jumped all over me. The pharmacist quickly joined in. It's as if they were all trained to treat customers in the worse possible manner. Truly a bizarre, horrid experience. Never again!!!! I was already questioning this pharmacy, but mostly had doubts about the tall, young female pharmacist. While she always has a smile on her face, she is quick to lash out at customers and mostly seems highly disturbed by the part of her job involving customer service and relations. The first time I was picking up my husband's injections she brushed off the consultation in a manner I've never experienced in my life. Clearly she could care less about the patient. That couldn't be more obvious!! If I could give Rite Aid ZERO STARS I would!!! read more

The pharmacy is fantastic, the pharmacists Erik and Whitney really know their stuff. The techs are usually very helpful, and I love every trip I have to make there, even if there's a line. A marked improvement in customer service. This location is still under staffed, or maybe it's just the morning crew. It's a Rite Aid, and it does serve it's purpose, there when I need them to be - and they always get my scripts filled in a timely fashion - picked up this morning with no issues and the front counter service was prompt, courteous and kind. Seriously understaffed, the staff that they do have are unfriendly and rude and the place is always so disorganized you can hardly walk down aisles. The pharmacy is the worst. My husband and I have both witnessed pharmacy employees sexually harassing each other, which is bad enough but when customers are around and within ear shot it's even worse. They also sit on their ass doing nothing while there's a line forming almost to the front door, the woman who is almost always working the register is one of the most unfriendly people I've ever met, and there's a bizarre woman who I won't name, but she's bigger with brown hair (the person we've seen sexually harassing other employees) that hit on my husband right in front of me every time we were there then would glare at me when she walked away. Completely awkward and was the main reason why we switched pharmacies. They have some good sales sometimes, but usually not enough to make it worth battling through all of this nonsense. read more

Rite Aid Favors Advertising Over Customer Satisfaction If you call the pharmacy, it will take you over a minute to actually talk to someone. Why? Because in addition to the normal phone tree menu and the address of the store and other irrelevant information, they include advertising about getting a flu shot in the outgoing message. They wasted a lot of my time today. Even when I picked up a prescription, they wanted me to update to the new version of their "Wellness Card," which would involve "only a few minutes of filling out information." read more

I have gone through the health center on campus at my college since I began attending. Before graduating, I asked my doctor to give me a written prescription for my 3 medications to last me until I start grad school the following fall when I'm a student again. I dropped the prescriptions off at the pharmacy and told the technician they weren't urgent. She said "Ok. Next week then?" I replied "Sounds good." and left. Today (1 week later) I went in to pick up my medications only to be told that those prescriptions do not exist in their computer. I proceeded to tell the pharmacist that that's impossible because I handed the tech my written prescription the week before. He tells me "We don't lose prescriptions. Maybe you should check in your car or at home." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! The pharmacist offered no help outside of suggesting places for me to look. Hopefully I can get my doctor to rewrite these scripts for me even though I'm technically not a student anymore until August. If she does, I'll be taking them to Walgreen's. read more

The Rite Aid pharmacy in McKinleyville is the WORST pharmacy I have ever used. The only reason I go there is because they are a "preferred" pharmacy on my insurance plan. They are also conveniently close to my home. I have Celiac Disease and am extremely allergic to wheat (gluten). Unfortunately, wheat is used as a filler in many products, including medications. When I have prescriptions filled, I have to make sure they are gluten-free. At the beginning of the year, I started switching my prescriptions over to Rite Aid from Walgreens because of the "preferred" status with my insurance company. I tried to explain my allergy to the pharmacy staff so they could check to see if my prescriptions were gluten free. THEY REFUSED TO HELP ME WITH THIS! They said I would have to call the manufacturer and find out myself. I asked if the prescriptions could be returned if it turned out they contained gluten, and the answer was no. Now, to make things even more complicated, I am completely deaf. Lip reading is very, very difficult, and when I get stuck, I sometimes ask people to write down what they're saying. Usually all I need is a key word or two, not a full chapter. But the staff were reluctant to write things for me. They did finally give me a computer print-out with the phone numbers of the two drug manufacturers, but they would not make the calls for me. I explained to the staff that I did not have captioning on my cell phone, so I would have to go home in order to make the calls. It would have helped me out so much if they would have made the calls for me, but they refused. Perhaps there is a good reason why they couldn't do that -- it would have been helpful if they would have written it down so I understood what the problem was. Fortunately there was one kind woman there who spoke to me slowly and seemed genuinely interested in helping me. She wasn't the person responsible for dealing with me (the "difficult" customer), but she stepped in to help when she saw how much I was struggling. Bless her! She found out how I could handle the allergy problem on future prescriptions and explained it slowly enough that I had no trouble understanding her. I'm sure she would have written it down for me if necessary. BLESS HER! When I first moved to this area a couple of years ago, I started using the McKinleyville Rite Aid. Getting prescriptions there was always a hassle, so I quickly switched over to Walgreens. I used their mail order service and had prescriptions automatically filled and mailed to me for free. It was so easy! I may look into the new "preferred" mail order pharmacy. I dread having to go back to Rite Aid. :( read more

Pharmacy Tech Candy was so helpful making phone calls to our Dr and the insurance co to help us with medication that was needed that was way above what we would expect her to do and we can't thank her enough. I'm registered with 3 pharmacies, but always use my riteaid as default. They know me by name & always have scripts ready quickly. If there's ever a situation where my doc has to be contacted in order to get the script passed through, they have always taken care of it in a timely manner. Well, if I had written this review a year ago, it would have been better. I've watched a steady decline in pharmacy service since then. Overall, I have no complaints about the helpfulness of the staff - in the pharmacy or in the store itself - but the pharmacy needs some work in its organization, communication and ability to sort out problems. The latest in a string of events (that has me looking at having my prescriptions sent elsewhere in the future) was my need to have two prescriptions refilled. I made the appropriate phone call and the techno-voice took my order, then received an automated phone call two days later telling me my orders were ready. The next day I appeared at the pharmacy, told them I was picking up two refills and watched the chaos unfold. It took several looks at the computer screen to tell me only one order was ready and I'd need to return the next day for the other (what if I had to drive a long way, or had trouble walking?). The call had told me my orderS were ready so I expected both. Ok, then - how about the other? We can't find it. I offered some hopefully helpful hints like " Could it be under this letter?" and eventually four - FOUR - pharmacy staff members were looking for it. They said it had been filled but they couldn't find it and asked me to wait so they could fill it again. I said no thanks, I'll pick both up when I have to return tomorrow. It didn't used to be like this. All very nice people but their system needs a major overhaul. read more

After having been a customer at Rite Aid for 4 months, I decided to change to Cloney's Pharmacy. There has been a problem with just about every fill or refill at this location. I don't know what the problem is, but the techs and sales associates have no customer service skills at all. The last straw for me was when I came in on a Sunday, after having asked to have my prescription ready on Saturday. Not only was the pharmacy 10 minutes late in opening, but my prescription wasn't even ready. They offered no explanation as to why, either. The pharmacist did call me today to ask if there was a problem, and I told him why I was leaving. It is all just a little too late. read more

Very accommodating staff of professionals. The people who complain (I've witnessed this) are usually those who are frustrated with the staff's adherence to professional, ethical, and legal requirements. They cannot override your doctor's directives or fix his/her mistakes! I'm a frequent visitor because of the number of medications I take, and I'm always treated warmly. From the veteran staffers (Ms. C, in particular) whose valuable experience streamlines operations, to the newest register person (Ms. D, delightful addition), who is courteous and responsive, I always feel respected throughout the process. Every time that I have needed medication filled on a weekend when my usual pharmacy is not open Rite Aid in Mack has been pretty OK. The staff is helpful, and when the price may be high they try really hard to find coupons and discounts or even generic versions that cost much less. The con is that they are pretty slow because they have a very high demand, so it does take a few hours to get meds. But hey its close to home and I don't have to drive all the way to Eureka to another pharmacy. read more

This location is very convenient for me to go to, very close to home. However, I hate going there, the pharmacy employee's have never been nice, they make you feel rushed, kind of like your waisting their time. Everytime I have gone to pick up a prescription it has never been ready. If I call a script in at 11 in the morning and you tell me it's supposed to be done at 2pm and I show up after 3pm you better not be telling me I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour because it's not ready yet. This Rite Aid Rx is the worst I've been to. I've sat waiting for my Rx refill for 2 hours, watching 90% of people be turned away - the staff refusing to fill their scripts. After the 2 hour wait, my refill was denied as well. On a more recent visit, my husband & I took in a script from Mad River Hospital. They denied this as well, saying it as not "hand dated". We took it to CVS, Arcata, they filled no isues, told us they'd call the prescriber if they needed clarification. So RA Rx will either, 1. turn you away, 2. have the patient do their job for them, 3. lecture & belittle you about the medication you're on, 4. not follow your docs orders (i.e. fill your valid Rx or refill). Save yourselves the heartache & hassle, not all RA Rx's are like this, avoid this Mckinleyville Rx! read more

Came in having no idea what kind of wine to buy when my boyfriends parents came to visit and hoped there'd be someone that could point me in the right direction. The store manager knew exactly what would be perfect for the occasion and gave me enough information on the wine I bought so I could explain the type I bought too! Such a nice guy and really helpful. It astonished me to see the way that Vicky treated customers here. The few times that I've gone in, I have witnessed time and time again the absolute worst customer service ever. If you happen to be standing in a line while she is cashiering, prepare to be treated as the biggest inconvenience in her day. She rudely hollers at you when she's ready to angrily ring you up, and she always has the look of pure discontent and hatred on her face. And don't even think about asking a question unless you're in the mood to be talked at like you're a complete moron. I have also witnessed her practically stripping people down if they set the alarm off, I'm surprised this store hasn't found themselves with a lawsuit. I would choose not to shop here, but every other employee makes up for the few bad experiences that I have to deal with when Vicky is there. Plus, I can't argue with the convenient location of this store to my house. But as I said, It really amazes me to still see her working every time I come in after the ordeals that I've seen. read more
