I have to corroborate the only other - and also 1-star - review. Service is so terrible, I couldn't stomach waiting 20 minutes for the 5 people in front of me to be processed by the sloth-like cashier. The pharmacy closes at 6 pm (although the remainder of the store stays open) -- nonetheless, don't expect the pharmacist to help you at 6:10 pm - even if you can see your prescription hanging on the wall. Overall, a depressing and untenable retail establishment monopolizing on the locale's major paucity of competition (I.e. no other pharmacy operates in Freeland). read more

Is it possible to give a zero star review? This place deserves it. Helpful, compassionate, driven etc. are all words missing from the lexicon of this sad excuse for corporate pharmaceutical industry. I've received better service at the Department of Licensing and the Post Office on tax day. The people went out of their way to not do their job. Wait will be 40 minutes. Sorry the wait will be another 30 minutes. Wait will be another 30 minutes. 2.5 hours later and only after a few tears were shed, the front counter told the pill counters in the back to get the 3 day emergency script done and stop messing around. I try NEVER to give bad reviews online, calling to deal directly with a problem is my mo. In fact I just called this place minutes ago and got nowhere. Again. In this instance I seriously doubt it would do any good. Avoid this place like the plague. Better care to be had in rural Armenia. The pharmacy personnel are rude, incompetent, and derelict in all of their duties. I have more stories to tell than this page will fit, but suffice it to say I'm never going back. Tonight I had a very positive visit to the Rite Aid pharmacy. I wanted to post a positive review because it was such an improvement over my other recent visits. My prescriptions were ready for me and the pharmacist (a new face behind the counter) couldn't have been nicer! DONT GO HERE. Terrible service, waited 2 days for meds, they never got a hold of my insurance company so when I went to pick them up they weren't ready. They never called to tell me that they needed any more information. I made it clear they I was going on a vacation and they disregarded it. I should do two reviews as I have had two awful visits to this rite aid. On the first visit, the pharmacist was very rude and made a very rude comment about me to another employee right in front of me. I met with the nice store manager who handed me a 25 dollar gift card to make me feel better. She explained they would be going through growing pains during the first few weeks of operation. They had already been open all summer. Well, today...Dropped off my prescription, I was told I would have to wait an hour. We shopped and ran errands. Two hours later returned to the store only to find that they had not processed any part of my order. When I dropped my order off, I witnessed 4 different people argue with the pharmacy staff over missing, incomplete and messed up orders. If the pharmacy is not able to process orders, then they should let customers know before they decide to leave their order to be processed. According to the store manager, they have had "problems" with pharmacy staff and they are training new ones. I am not waiting for rite aid to go through their growing pains on my expense. I said it not once, but now twice.....I will never return to this pharmacy again. This means my weekly shopping with be done in Oak Harbor (not rite aid) and I will process future medication orders through Island Drug. read more

I had to give one star..... Don't need your meds in any kind of timely fashion, slow and very unorganized, people have been called and told prescription is ready only to arrive and not even close to done. I had a script called in at 10, I arrived at 12 with another one, was told one hour, came back 3.5hrs later and it took another hour. read more

I am so frustrated with the lack of service this Rite Aid provides. Lind's was SO MUCH BETTER! I just noticed that their prescription delivery driver, Glenna, responded to a review I left a few weeks ago. Please note, she gave herself a FIVE STAR RATING and she's an employee! On February 4th, Whidbey Island experienced record snowfall and schools were closed for a couple of days. The kids went back to school on February 6th and the school bus picked up kids on my street on the 7th. My prescription ran out on the 6th, but because it's a "controlled substance", I could not get it filled until February 4th ~ 2 days prior. I would NEVER have asked anyone to deliver the Rx on Tuesday, the 5th, because of the road conditions. Yes, the roads were icy on the 4th-6th, but the 7th was fine. (The school bus did NOT run on the 6th). My doctor advised me to halve my prescription and get it on the 7th. When I called Glenna regarding a delivery, she went ballistic, saying "I AM NOT DRIVING ON THOSE ROADS"....etc, etc. I tried to tell her that the school bus picked up kids on my street that morning, but I'm not sure she heard me ~ she was too busy arguing. I tried to explain to her that things were desperate ~ she didn't care. I am 62 years young, have Multiple Sclerosis, use a wheelchair and did not have a way to get to Rite Aid to pick up my prescription myself. I was extremely upset with Glenna and I did tell her that "if anything happens to me, its on you". I probably shouldn't have said that, but I want to be completely honest. I did not swear or raise my voice, but I was crying. I then called the Bayview Senior Center to see if they could help, and they picked up my prescription and brought it to my house. They said the roads were fine. The woman who brought it drove a VW bug....not a huge truck or a 4-wheel drive. Glenna refers to another day that I supposedly asked for a delivery and it was windy. I have NO idea what day she is referring to. Glenna usually calls me to advise that she has a delivery for me, but even though I asked for my Rx the day before, I didn't hear from her. I called the pharmacy at 10am and they said that she had already left. I was frantic ~ another pharmacy employee offered to bring me my script. The frustrating thing is the fact that Glenna DID NOT CALL to advise me that she thought it was too windy to come to my neighborhood. For anyone who lives here, you KNOW that there are trees ALL OVER THE PLACE. Glenna mentioned the distance from the Rite Aid store to my house. I don't see how that's relevant when they are the ones who offer the service. They are not doing me a favor. They charge $3 for delivery, but I would gladly pay more. Glenna only delivers to Clinton two days a week (her decision). She was rude and unreasonable. I do not know why she still has a job. I spoke to someone who claimed to be "in charge" of the pharmacy ~ I think her name is Chrissy or Christy. She once told me that they did not have to deliver to me, that they were (basically) doing me a favor! They say and do whatever they want because the other pharmacy in town has limited hours and the employees at Rite Aid act like they are doing ME a favor! Since the incident in early February, I have arranged to get ALL of my prescriptions delivered thru my insurance company's mail order service. However, this past Monday, March 18th, I had outpatient surgery and needed an Rx filled. Even though my Doctor faxed it in at 10:30am, it was not ready at 1:30pm. I asked them to have it delivered the next day and they agreed. I called on Tuesday morning to make sure Glenna was aware I had a delivery and she said "WE decided we are not going to deliver to you any more." Who is WE? WHY? And, if that was indeed the case, why wasn't I told? I could have been told on Monday when I called and spoke to the pharmacy (I believe it was Chrissy). I asked "why" and Glenna said something about the way I treat people there.... I have NEVER sworn at anyone or lost my temper. If I raised my voice, it was because I was frustrated by their incompetence and in pain. I worked as a customer service agent for Delta Air Lines for over 20 years. I would have been fired if I treated someone the way Glenna treats me! I was shaking, I was so upset. I told her that my friend had been willing to pick it up for me on Monday, but it wasn't ready. Glenna then told me that she would "make an exception and deliver to me one more time!" I am LIVID!!! I called back and spoke to the manager on duty ~ I believe her name was Michelle. I expressed my anger and frustration and she was very understanding and professional. She promised to have the "pharmacy manager" call me back on Wednesday. It is now Sunday - FIVE DAYS LATER - and I haven't heard from ANYONE. I am at home, recovering from surgery and I am positive I did not miss a call. (to be continued) read more

I found Rite Aid staff friendly and helpful. Prices on products are much more reasonable. I switched to Island Drug because it was closer. Island Drug has terrible customer service. Five different times (out of 6). I dropped off my prescription and it was not ready, when I came back. I told them I would pick it up the next day so they could fill for people who needed it ASAP. When I got back the next day. 15 minutes in line to be told they hadn't started it doc I needed to wait again They didn't bill my insurance. I used Island Drug app. They didn't fill my prescription and when they finally did, they gave me a second prescription that I didn't ask for. On top of it all they have you stand back so you can't hear others private info then they scream your name when the prescription is ready. I'm moving back to Rite Aid and driving the extra distance. And really some of the reviews are ridiculous. Having to wait 10 minutes at Rite Aid is nothing compared to the 45 minutes at Island Drug just to get to the counter. They have made so many mistakes in the past that I just called to check on the accuracy of my annual prescription renewals before delivery. Today's error is that they have an insurance company billed and I don't have insurance! I am on their savings plan for a lower priced 3 month cost; somehow they lose that piece of info (repeatedly) and I keep getting priced five times or more for a drug. I am signed up for having easy-off caps but keep getting childproof caps. I have had to have home delivery u-turn back to the pharmacy for corrections and wait for re-delivery. read more

This pharmacy had a history of inconvenience (long lines) and confusion. Happy to report that things have vastly improved. While there may still be a line, it now moves steadily. They now make sure both registers are active when a line forms, which results in more efficient service. The Pharmacist, Tom, goes the extra mile and remembers customer names and their specific needs. My disabled husband requires a lot of prescriptions and we are grateful for this pharmacy and staff. read more

If you call something in and then go to pick it up, even the next day or a day later; you will wait in line for a llloooonnnnggg time, only to find out that your prescription isn't ready anyway. HUGE IMPROVEMENT in the Pharmacy, HUGE!! Lines tend to form during the rush hour since 120 plus cars arrive every 25 - 30 minutes. Karma goes a long way !! So many people have had a long day, a long Ferry wait and then a 15 - 20 minute wait due to 15 - 20 customers that need something extra. It is easy to overhear the grouchy people complain to each other. All the Pharmacy staff seem Cheerful in-spite of the slow computers and system devices. A friend had a Rx that was over a hundred bucks, he asked for the generic or a review of the insurance. the 20 minute it took to get that through saved him about 250 bucks because they filled the order for 90 days! He paid zero!! Rite Aid is the only store for ten miles since a few stores closed forcing all users to decide either here or over there. Worst place to get your prescriptions filled. They will charge different prices every time you go in. Long lines. Takes the cashier longer than nesessary with each customer making people wait who are either sick, in pain and elderly people who have a hard time standing. Linds was great. Island drug is great but living in Greenbank I'm now making the trip to oak harbor. It's worth not getting frustrated any more with rite Aid. read more

Rite Aid sold me Montelukast, the generic of Singulair, for asthma, for $150, for a 30 day supply, requested by my practitioner. It sells for between $10 and $30, for the same amount at pharmacies elsewhere. When I questioned their manager about this, he suggested that I find a pharmacy that sells it for less!! They are selling the generic and charging for the same as the trade name in this case. It's basically cheating people! I now shop at Island Drug for my prescription needs. read more

So to give people perspective on these reviews. Whidbey Island residents do not like big business on the island. This Rite Aid took over a well loved family owned small business and people here were up in arms about it. The 1 star reviews you are reading reflect that as much as anything else. I can guarantee everyone that I waited just as long if not longer when it was Linds, as a matter of fact a lot of the same people still work there. I will say they didn't transition very well as the first couple of weeks were pretty shaky, now they seem no better or worse then any other Rite Aid. read more

The only good thing I can write about this place is that while standing in the very long lines, I've met some great people. Often turns into a group of three or four trading RiteAid horror stories while we watch the poor customer at the counter trying to deal w lost, misplaced, or other messed up prescription order. We commiserate when they leave empty-handed, and wish the next-in-line person good luck. I've learned to wait at least four days after my provider or I order a prescription, then call and check to make sure everything is ready. Invariably there's a problem, so I call my provider's office and beg for intersession. That usually works, but sometimes I have to go through that routine several times before I dare to go in to face the long line and sullen counter help. I'm planning to switch to Walgreen's in Oak Harbor. The longer drive will be evened up by the time and frustration I save. read more

Generally, the pharmacy staff is ok. But on the way out of the store one day, I brought a bottle of wine to the front counter. I was asked for my I.D. Now, mind you, I'm 63. I asked the girl behind the counter, "do I look like I"m still in high school?" She said, it's our policy. I asked if she would get a manager to override since I didn't have my license with me and didn't want to walk out to the parking lot, come back in, wait and then check out for a $10 bottle of wine. She said "it won't do any good. it's our store policy." At that point, I gave up and said, "ok, keep the wine" and left. I won't be back to purchase anything from this store. For a $10 purchase, a clerk sent my lifetime value out the door. I hope their management is happy that she "won the battle, and lost the war." read more

Do not even enter this pharmacy unless you have the patience of a saint and all the time in the world to waste. The staff are inept and rude and this is after you have waited in line for 20 mins or more and if that hasn't gotten your blood pressure up, wait till you hear your script is not ready, AFTER you called it in 5 days prior and you will have to wait another hour. If this was an occasional experience I would TRY and understand, but it happens 99% of the time when I try and pick up my elderly mother's RX and I have never gotten so much as "sorry" for inconvenience. As a lg corporate business, you should be appalled at the many negative reviews and try and do something about it, apparently you don't care enough to do that. I will make sure I never have scripts fill here again, and let EVERYONE I know to avoid that pharmacy like the plague, which you clearly would die from, waiting for your script!!
