This rating is for the soda fountain/ restaurant. We walked into the pharmacy to kill time before the place we were going to opened up. In the back of the store is an old school soda fountain diner. Like Woolworths used to have when I was a small child. It took me back to being a kid and asking grandma to buy me a sundae or a bag of Fritos with a scoop of chili in it. All I wanted to do was look at the menu so I walked over and opened one up at the counter. As I was perusing an older gentleman told me about the Saturday special. Burger and fries for $4.75, $4.95 if you want cheese on it. His arrived as we were talking and it looked so good we decided to stay. I'm glad we did! We both had cheeseburgers. I never have onion on mine, it's too sharp of a flavor and takes away from the burger. Bun was lightly toasted, plenty of smatterings but not too much. The beef was grilled on a flat top and had a nice crispiness to it but still juicy. It's a thinner pattie but was plenty for the sandwich. You get a couple of leaves of lettuce and a thick tomato. It made me think of a Dick's deluxe if it wasn't mass produced. We had lunch at Lunchbox laboratory the day before and I have to tell you I liked this better! The fries were to die for! They are thinner like McDonald's fries but come unsalted. Which I liked because I'm an adult and can decide how much salt I want. Beautiful crispy fries served piping got. So darn good! The whole meal was perfection in a plastic basket. We really struck gold by chance and we are so happy for it. Definitely coming back! read more

Price gouging during Covid is NOT OK. I recently went into this pharmacy to purchase an at home covid test - and was charged $30...for a standard 2 test package. RiteAid and other chains are charging about $20 - unless they are sold out - and they are cheaper yet on Amazon...but of course there is the delivery time. These items - that will literally save lives should be sold at cost - not at whatever they think the market will bear. Sure - the idea of shopping locally and avoiding the chain stores is a great idea, but when being forced to pay inflated prices in a pandemic - it is time to call it out and never return to Don's Pharmacy - even if they are quaint and have been around forever. Time to boycott price gouging stores - Enough is Enough. read more

This is for the Soda Fountain. Im local but was treated with disrespect and went home with the worst food poisoning. Love the idea of this place & have been many times. But my last experience the waitress had the worst attitude. She treated my group and self the worst even though we were kind. She gave me an anxiety attack and food poisoning. We all were sick. Okay let's talk about this little dinette. The last time I went here,with a friend, our server was Hella funny! She traded quips with other seated customers and the cook. Made you feel like you were back in Mayberry waiting for Opie and Aunt Bee to come in! Cheeseburgers were YUM! and filling! Just the way a dinette burger should taste. Now other times I have been there food was so-so and service was meh... But I would say order a shake and you will walk away happy! ow as far as the store...it's pricey as is anything here in :Port Townsend. It's a tourist trap . But I have seen Pyrex pretty darn cheap. No they do not have everything, it is not a Walmart...but in a pinch it's here or another place. So we shall give the Pharmacy store a 3 star too. read more

What is not to like about Don's Pharmacy? It's possible that you are on a diet and don't want to hang out at the cozy, comfy cafe inside the store. (I'm beginning to feel sorry for you....) It is possible that you've already shot your wad on household items and that you don't need reasonably priced rugs, cups'n saucers, hairdryers or knitting yarns. (Now I'm really feeing sorry for you because Don's Pharmacy has the most extensive selection of "stuff" in the area...at the best prices.) Well, okay. You might try Goodwill. No guarantees. Might be cheaper than Don's. However, if you want stuff new, you want it from Don's. "New" becomes important in personal hygiene items like lipstick and blush. Soap. Shampoo. But if you want Don-the-Pharmacist this is where you have to go. No ifs, ands or buts. And you do want Don-the-Pharmacist. He's accurate. Friendly. Will check interactions between any OTC meds you might be considering. Knows the local doctors. Knows the local school system. Knows...well, heck! I'd be surprised if there isn't anybody on Quimper Peninsula that Don doesn't know. Trust me on this. Nevermind...just trust Don. Don's Pharmacy will definitely do a body good. read more

I'm just another regular customer at Don's Pharmacy; so today, while I was recycling at the county dump, I was surprised to hear my name called out by Andy, one of the pharmacists at Don's Pharmacy. Guess I shouldn't have been, because they are always friendly, quick and efficient in filling prescriptions. The store is quite handy for an incredible range of products, from drug store fare, to kitchen, yard, gifts and even Port Townsend T-shirts. And the old fashioned soda fountain serves good cheap food, including a monster shake big enough to feed a family of five, I kid you not. read more

A vote for Don's Pharmacy Soda Fountain, upholding a grand tradition of malts, shakes, splits, sundaes, and serious back talk in Port Townsend, WA.! Always good french fries, and a club sandwich, morning glory muffins, and more. Definitely use this pharmacy for medications: they take the time to do it right, and talk to the customer. And they sell the only really useful hand cream "Working Hands", and great hard milled French soaps in bath & hand sized bars. read more

Stumbled upon this little gem on our last trip to Port Townsend, but didnt eat at the soda fountain, as we had just ate and didnt know about this place. Made sure to make a stop today for lunch. What a great place! Definitely a place where the locals stop to eat and are on a first name basis. Our waitress was lots of fun, and made us feel just like one of the regulars. My burger was very good, and my husband's party melt was delicious (so he kept saying). Didnt have room for all the many ice cream options, and we're pretty sad about that! Next time! Went here to have a banana milkshake ($6). Yum! It's a kitchy soda fountain. We watched the waitress make a banana split ($10) for a party of 3. It was huge! 9 scoops of ice cream with the usual toppings. Beware of that thing! Bring a few friends. read more

This is a review for the soda fountain restaurant inside. The menu is pretty basic stuff but it is all done to perfection and the portions are huge and the prices are shockingly low. Your money goes really far here. I had a beef vegetable soup that was absolutely deelish, my cherry pie alamode had a scoop of ice cream bigger than my fist. The lady next to me ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo and the plate was just mounding and the garlic smell was heavenly. I ordered a tuna salad sandwich once and again, huge portion, super yummy and low price. If you love ice cream and you have someone with you to help, order the banana split. I will post a picture on here. It is H U G E and they put on tons of real fruit, pineapple, strawberries, etc and softball sized scoops of ice cream. The waitresses here have the most hilarious banter back and forth and are as warm and friendly as you could hope form. A throwback in time that I am lucky to have discovered. When you come to Port Townsend, check it out. I recommend this place 100%. They close at 4 and closed on Sunday. read more

Continually putting a different doctor's name on my prescription. And when refills are needed, they are getting approved by this mysterious doctor that I've never heard of! Even my doctor is perplexed. When I brought it to their attention, they were super hostile and said it's my issue to deal with. How is this a safe pharmacy???? Don't trust this place. What a great find. Was in Port Townsend for the day and stopped in for lunch. The cheeseburger basket special was under $6. Awesome fries, a GREAT burger, and I also had a chocolate and peanut butter milkshake. Our server was supper friendly and funny too. I will definitely go back when I get back to Washington. I just love Dons Pharmacy! What a great institution. What would we in Port Townsend do without it. It sells every thing from rat traps to Sardines plus Don is marvelous and i would not buy my drugs from any one else .....ha ha ha! And then there is the Soda Fountain,this place is truely legit, red vinyl and chrome. Fabulous shakes ,Sodas and banana splits that would sink the Navy. I had lunch there yesterday. I had the special, meat loaf,mash potatoes and gravy. $10.50. REAL MASHED POTATOES not lumpy rubbish with skins left on or powdered. Meat loaf was juicy and flavorful, not reeking of ketchup or BBQ sauce. Gravy was great. The little side salad was simple and fresh as could be. No weird brown edges and a general feeling of being long dead! My friend had a burger with fries, that was fresh,unpretentious and GOOD. I was very impressed by the fries. They were slender and perfectly cooked. They were so tasty, that i secretly fatasized/hoped that they had been cooked in tallow or lard. They do breakfast too. I love there corned beef hash special. You cant beat it with a spoon! Im a horrible bitch when it comes to food and i thoughly dissaprove of most food served here in PT, but this place serves honest food. I respect that so much. Don and the pharmacy/store saved our day and return home from the Seattle hospital on Saturday afternoon. To summarize they went well beyond the call to get us set up with the right meds and supplies for the weekend and beyond. They were kind, thorough and understanding....we are new to port t and this extra meant the world to us. This drug store is not only a fun place to poke around but the soda fountain is amazing! We would walk on the ferry just to come across for an afternoon walk and a sundae. Highly, highly recommended...just be sure to check the time when you are heading over because it is not open on Sunday and we have been there with the doors locked. I chose this place as my new pharmacy when I moved to Port Townsend over the summer. The decision was based on the long lines I kept seeing at the Safeway pharmacy. While they do a fine job, it's just ok in terms of service. I expected more from a non-corporate chain, but I've had better service at Walgreens. I don't get any reminders for when my refills are ready. I have to manage all the foot work between the dr'a office and the pharmacy, and more often than not my insurance wasn't billed correctly. I've gone up to pay for my prescription only to find that it's full price and had to go back and have it billed appropriately for insurance. I'm shopping for a new pharmacy read more

An old-fashioned gem. waiting to be discovered. DO NOT pass up the soda fountain; loaded with surprises, especially the banana split. I remember my first experience ordering a banana split. I was sitting alone at the counter and asked my waitress for a banana split. She looked somewhat puzzled and asked to conform that I wanted a banana split. Taking my order she walked back where the other waitresses were, said something to them and they all turned and looked at me with smiles on their faces. When my banana split arrived I understood what the discussion was about: it was a mountain, enough for at least three hungry people. Undaunted I set about to consume it all. I failed.
