Terrible customer service at the pharmacy. I called on the 31st of December to confirm my medication would be held if I paid for it online, the woman told me they could not put it back if I had paid for it so I waited until after the new year to pick it up. I have moved to a different county and I had been out of town for 3 weeks so I finally got down here today, the 2nd. I get here and they tell me they've put my medication back on the shelf and the pharmacist continues to tell me "there's no way someone told you this." Essentially calling me a liar. I had to pay out of pocket for the meds because my insurance is now expired, I'm on Kaiser which goes thru their own pharmacy. The pharmacist is rude, condescending, impatient and lack empathy. People aren't usually picking up Meds because they are healthy people. The meds o take can seriously impact someone's life if they aren't taken and should be treated as such. read more

Max, my Australian Cattle Dog, is epileptic. his vet, Dr.​ Candace Runyan (Carlsbad Animal Hospital), has him on a regimen​ that includes twice-daily, low doses of Luminal (generic Phenobarbital) that's worked so well he's been seizure-free​ for over eleven months. before she filled Max's prescription, the RITE AID pharmacist checked to make sure i was okay with the charges : $99.99 (for 90 pills). since i've been filling​ the exact same prescription at CVS for $17.77 (for 270 pills), i was NOT okay. the pricing was so ridiculous,​ i thought i was getting punked. i kept looking around for hidden cameras. a month ago, i gave 'em a three-star review mostly for their ice cream (which until my thirteen-year-old son Wyatt tried SUB ZERO was his favorite) and for convenience (they're only a couple of blocks from my house). but a price difference​ of $1.11 per pill (and Max gets two per day) vs. less than .07 per pill is beyond absurd. RITE AID's prices are more than SEVENTEEN TIMES higher than CVS's. thanks, but NO thanks. somebody should call the cops. RITE AID's pricing is tantamount​ to robbery. read more

Terrible Service and Unprofessional Staff I recently had a very negative experience with Rite Aid Pharmacy that left me completely frustrated. After visiting urgent care and my primary physician, both of whom sent in prescriptions, I called Rite Aid to confirm the status of my medications to ensure they'd be ready when I arrived. One prescription had been sent the day before, and the other was sent at 7:30 AM. When I called, the pharmacy staff member who answered was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I asked about the status of my prescriptions and was told they wouldn't be ready until after 4 PM, possibly even the next day. When I commented that this was an unreasonably long delay, she dismissively told me they were busy. I explained that I was in a lot of pain, and she rudely replied that the medication wasn't even for pain, as if she were qualified to make such a judgment. Her lack of professionalism and empathy was appalling. She's not a doctor or pharmacist, so her comments were completely uncalled for. Frustrated, I called my doctor and had my prescription transferred to another pharmacy, which was able to fill it promptly. I then called Rite Aid back to let them know I had canceled my prescription and to speak with manager. Instead of apologizing, she said, "Yeah, hold on," and promptly hung up on me. I waited on hold for 10 minutes before realizing she had no intention of getting anyone to assist me. This location has terrible reviews for a reason. The staff is unprofessional and dismissive, and customer service is practically nonexistent. When I contacted Rite Aid's customer service line to report the incident, their response was equally unhelpful. It's no surprise that Rite Aid is struggling as a company. With service like this, it's clear they don't care about their customers. Good riddance--they don't deserve to stay in business if this is how they treat people. :( The worst part, in my opinion, is seeing the Yelp responses from a RiteAid rep that they will address the issue but clearly NO ONE has. This is apparently an on-going issue. I have tried to give this pharmacy a chance. Especially since they are right around the corner from home, but unfortunately they have permanently lost my business. First, they didn't have an Rx face wash in stock so they CHANGED the Rx to a different kind that my daughter had a known allergy to. Second, when my very sick son had an Rx sent in, several hours later they said they still didn't have it. I left and had the doctor re-send it (yeah, that was fun getting ahold of the doctor again) and returned to the store waiting for another 30 minutes for them to prep the medication. Since I was not called, I returned to the pharmacy pick up window, only to be told that the pharmacist "went to lunch" and wouldn't be back for an hour and a half. You would think I learned my lesson, but no. I am here again, the pharmacy should have received my Rx at 11:30am. I called ahead and was told they didn't receive it. Looks like someone forgot to turn on the fax machine. It is now 3pm and I am sitting here watching them struggle with their antiquated computers and fax machines as I wait for my much needed antibiotic. Called the pharmacy 10 times over 3 days to refill prescription and never once got a hold of them.

My mother is very I'll, and had a pacemaker pacemaker put in recently. She also needs a knee and hip replacement. The pharmacy manager will not refill any pain medication with out speaking to the dr to ask why they are prescribing it. After the doctor called, she cancelled the prescription and asked us to have the dr put it in again. In all my life I've never experienced such awful service. They are condescending, and overstepping! Do not go here. CVS is a much better option. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I've ever been to, and I have serious medical issues and have lived in multiple states so I have been to dozens. I live 30 seconds walking distance from this pharmacy and will instead drive 10 minutes to avoid it. Here's why: - The staff is uneducated. Unable to give estimated time of prescription completion, doesn't listen to or comprehend questions, gives incorrect information, tells me certain drugs I've been prescribed have been discontinued when they haven't, the list goes on. - Doesn't answer their phones. Tried to get in touch for 3 hours and called every 5 minutes. - Horrible customer service. They cut you off when you're talking with them and write you off when they can. Never ever going here again. Was great go to pharmacy prior to 2022. (then got very ill, had speciality pharmacy.) CONSISTENTLY WORST possible pharmacy based on consecutive six visits. 1. An actual pharmacist must now sign off every med, no matter how benign, and even when customer 'declines instruction from a pharmacist. ) 2. That one pharm, randomly will take breaks leaving customers to wait 15-20 min or leave. Will continue to do online computer work vs assisting customer. NOTE : Store needs to make better accommodations for 'present' customers if that 'one' pharmacist is unable to stand or be present and avail for customers. 3. They DO NOT acknowledge when you arrive and are waiting. You can only see tops of their heads at computer so must assume they are clueless when you arrive. 4. If you have medical condition and can't stand, there are chairs way off to side, leaving the customer to explain to other walk ups they are next- and walk ups seem to have a bit of issue, so it's unpleasant. 5. sometimes the automated VM will include the first few letters of med ready, sometimes not. Sometimes it will call and not leave a message, but will text you 'med' ready. not which one. 6. customers have to sign on machine which is coated in every other sick person's germs. 7. Current pharmacist is unfriendly. Yes she's pregnant. But the store needs to cater to actual SICK customers who can't stand, have medical issues- it's a MEDICINE DISPENSARY. Have another staff ready to help and be friendly. COME ON MANAGEMENT. 1. Set up a number pull or bell so staff can be obviously notified customer is there. 2. Mandate staff MUST ACKNOWLEDGE when customer arrives and say HAVE A SEAT will be with you shortly . 3. He listened to my story, then said I would have to call back and talk to the pharmacy manager since he had "nothing to do" with that department. Unbelievable This review is for the pharmacy only. I've been a Rite Aid customer for years on Avenida Encinas, and recently moved farther north in Carlsbad, so moved my prescriptions to the Tamarack location. I recently had a severe cough that lasted several weeks, so my doctor prescribed cough medicine with codeine. Because it's a controlled substance, my doctor gave me a hand written prescription. I took it into this Rite Aid and a young Asian girl at the pharmacy told me they couldn't fill it. I thought they didn't carry it but she explained that it was because some people have been bringing in fake prescriptions. I knew my doctor had the pharmacy called before I got there to make sure they carried it, so when I mentioned that another woman- middle aged, long brown hair piped up and said "Yeah I took that call and I told them we couldn't fill it." I was confused because my doctor had told me exactly the opposite. The woman was very rude and dismissive and said flatly they wouldn't fill it. Now keep in mind I'm a middle aged woman myself and not a junkie looking to get high from cough medicine! That and the fact that my doctor's office just called should have told this horrible woman that it was a legitimate prescription. She literally just walked away and disappeared. So, I went to Walmart, coughing terribly along the way. When I gave the prescription to the gal there, she gave it to the pharmacist who spent several minutes looking at a computer and getting on her phone. Then she approached me and said "did you just try to fill this at Rite Aid?" Now how did she know that?? Seriously?? The horrible woman at Rite Aid put something in my file and sent it out to all pharmacies?? Yes, folks, look out for the 50 year old woman running around trying to get cough medicine. Walmart did fill it but I was made to feel like a criminal. The next day I called and talked to the manager, but he basically deflected and said he didn't run the pharmacy and I'd have to call back and talk to a different manager for that. To hell with it. Edit: the pharmacy manager Thuan Pham, has gone out of his way to help me. I am not sure why sometimes when I work with this pharmacy it seems like I get treated like I am the filth of the earth and other times I am treated very professionally. Today I worked with a tech who was professional and quick, and the pharmacy manager, Thuan, was great. I also edited the previous review I had left and only left the experience I had below because it is relevant and demonstrates that some of the staff can be unprofessional. However, some of the staff are great. Up in the air on this place. Previous review: A tech today told me that my doctors is unable to run a proper assessment because she operates remotely.... Did you not notice how the world changed over the past 2 years of COVID? I do my entire career remotely! I am so busy the only time I can get to a doctor is in limited time windows REMOTELY. Im not sure if they are paying attention to customer experiences or if it's just a coincidence but on my last visit I did experience friendly service at the register and also when I called prior to my visit the pharmacist who answered was helpful and polite and gave me accurate timing of when my prescription would be ready. One idiot dude asks me my DOB and name then i get put on hold (i think) with no music and he never even says hang on - called back and after getting disconnected probably 15 times, it happens again - this time a girl answers and does actually ask me to hold but again- they never come back to the line. then after like 20 more attempts l, the guy answers and apparently can't use a computer, and is and is a rude little ----, and hangs up on me!!! I used to go to rite aid for all my household needs. But the last several times I came in, they don't have basic items. Instead they've replaced necessities with 3 rows of booze and all the Halloween and Christmas decor you could possibly stomach. They also took away their frequent buyer discount program. When it comes to needing optimal health advice, specific to a prescription, I can always rely on Toula at the Tamarak Rite Aid. I have been filling prescriptions at various Rite Aid stores over many years, and while this store isn't my favorite, the pharmacist is exceptional! It's been very disturbing to observe the mismanagement of the Tamarak store and its pharmacy over the past couple of years. While prescriptions may not get filled within 20 minutes, (an unreasonable duration in my opinion as prescribing medication requires precision) doesn't mean ANYONE has the right to mistreat the staff who work endlessly tp provide much needed public health support to our community. I have stood in line at the Tamarak location, waiting for my COVID vaccines, only to observe customers misbehaving in a manner that is completely unacceptable, Our pharmacists are our frontline healthcare workers, physicians, whom we should give our respect for their indebted service. As for this particular location, management needs to be educated or edited, as there is a lack of safety/protection for this pharmacy staff whom continue to be badgered by customers who fail to understand the complexity of providing pharmaceutical services to the public, especially during a pandemic when staff are not only filling prescriptions, but also vaccinating in an effort to eradicate COVID 19! I received a generic response via Rite Aid to call the (800) #. This is not a one time complaint. I'd like to make it clear that my review is of the hostile environment notated at the Tamarak location experienced during multiple visits over an extrapolated time period: hence, a negative culture critically in need of change. Been in here every week the Pharmacy sucks balls! I put in a prescription a day in advance and they still can't have it fulfilled the next day in time with 4 people working behind the counter! DO NOT USE THIS Pharmacy! They all need to be fired since they cannot do a simple job! Cashiers at store are nice but can't do anything to the stupid people in the back that just tel you it's not ready yet even tho it's out in days in advanced! As previous reviewers already mentioned, Melanie is extremely rude and the pharmacy is really inefficient. They need to work on customer service. I asked about my baby's prescription and was rudely told by Melanie that it would be 30 minutes because they opened at 10. It was 10:24 when I asked. I wanted to confirm the time before leaving to run another errand. The other pharmacy employee told me she didn't know who I was so she didn't know. However, she knew enough to tell me that there were 3 other people in line and I could sign up for text alert. Why couldn't rude Melanie tell me that from the start?!? Typically go to CVS but stopped here after having surgery because it was more convenient to get an rx filled. All 3 woman in the pharmacy were SO rude, not just to me but the other people filling meds as well. No smile - no eye contact - no hello how are you today ? Abrupt responses. I watched one of the ladies yell at a man to come over to the other window. I mean YELL! My jaw dropped. If you aren't customer service oriented then dont work with the public. You're dealing with people who could have financial hardship - illnesses - or in pain. Try to be KIND. For Gods sake - the world needs a little bit of that right now. The pharmacist at pick up today (4pm) with long brown curly hair (she was thin) then another woman was larger with shorter red hair they should be fired and go work with Roles where they don't need to work with people. My prescription wasn't showing up because the hospital had my birthday wrong yet they didn't even ATTEMPT to help me or look me up another way. Follow up to recent review. I switched Pharmacies from Corporate Rite Aid Pharmacy to local Carlsbad Village Pharmacy. What a huge difference in customer experience. At Rite Aid you are greeted by an over-worked no customer service Corporate Pharmacist versus Carlsbad Village Pharmacy where you are greeted happily by local staff and Pharmacist when you walk in. The experience at Carlsbad Village Pharmacy was enjoyable and is no where near comparable to Corporate Rite-Aid Pharmacy. Parking is easier you don't have to walk through a store that no one shops at to get to Pharmacy only to be greeted by a disgruntled Pharmacist. If customers service and ease of picking up your prescription is important to you like it is to me, then see you at Carlsbad Village Pharmacy...... read more

I was prescribed a medication not covered by my insurance but could be purchased with my HSA. This pharmacy never ordered the drug for me. When I called back, the pharmacy clerk or pharmacist told me the out of pocket cost, which I okayed. She persisted by telling what the drug cost then said point blank that they weren't going to order the medication if there was any chance I would t pick it up. I lost my cool at that point. If a customer says, yes, order the drug, you've already made me wait three weeks with no communication, and they push back on you, that's a HUGE red flag. In no customer service scenario does a pharmacy clerk or pharmacist have the right to question a customer's ability to pay for a medication. That's not their call or their job. I told her to order it and THEY NEVER ORDERED IT. What kind of broke pharmacy can't order a $200 drug when their long time customer insists that they will pick it up. What if this was a life threatening medication? My doctor ended up ordering me this medication through an online pharmacy for $75. My family is slowly moving all our prescriptions away from this Rite-Aid. They're the worst. And the store is rundown and filthy. Zero stars. read more
