After lunch the honey and I strolled in to pick up a few items before heading back home. This location looks to be one of the locations soon to be closing because the shelves were pretty bare. Even so, I was able to pick up my over the counter allergy medications, nasal spray, and some of my (now discontinued) eyeshadow I tend to hoard for special occasions. I had to switch all my prescriptions to CVS across the street as the pharmacy has poor knowledge on drugs and the communication with the pharmacist and pharmacy technician is impossible. Due to the plexiglass protections barriers between the customer and pharmacy staff it makes it difficult to speak to the staff about prescriptions. Customers have to yell out there personal health information in order for the staff to hear them. There are HIPA regulations and personal health medications is private and should not be heard by the customers standing in line. CVS across the street does not have large pexiglass barriers and it makes it easier to communicate private information. Also, the pharmacy at CVS take the time to talk to customers about the prescriptions, ect. The staff at the front of the store are wonderful and have always been good with customers. However I depend on the pharmacy to be professional. read more

This is a well stocked Rite Aid location. Whenever I get one of their circulars in the mail, I can always find what I need here while other locations are out of stock. Customer service is good as well. The cashiers are friendly and nice and know how to process coupons. Now that most every Rite Aid location has been remodeled, it's much easier to locate needed items in the well marked aisles. There is plenty of parking in the lot out front. read more

When I went to Rite Aid there was an employee that told us to stop playing around we accidentally knock something over but we picked it up right away. We said our apologies and when we were in the card aisle trying to find a card for Christmas for my friends mom when he keep stalking us and would not leave us alone when we looked over the video footage because we were talking videos of each other and then told us to leave.when we were leaving he was being extremely rude to us, and laughing at us and telling us that she is going to look over the video footage and look at us when we were literally in the card aisle standing there looking at videos and looking at cards for my mom, this employee should be fired. My prescription was called in at 10am. I went to the pharmacy at 7:07pm to pick up my prescription......it wasn't ready yet! To make matters worse, at 7:10 the pharmacist went to lunch until 7:40 so, there was no one who could fill my prescription ?!?!?! I would have taken my prescription somewhere else, but it was phoned in so I was stuck here. Absolute worst pharmacy ever! Ever since the San Ramon pharmacy closed down for repairs this place has screwed me multiple times. I had a medication refilled on Friday and it being Wednesday of next week, I still can't get it! They lied and told my doctor I got a early refill but it was for a different medication. These people really don't care about you and I understand, how could they.. but I need this medication! Just explain to my why I can't get a refill instead of just telling me no and we could have figured this out a week ago. This store should be an example for all your other properties. The manager, Michael Hsu, is one of the hardest working people with boundless energy. He is everywhere, serving ice cream (my grandsons love him), sweeping the floor, stocking items on the shelves and he knows the store layout like the back of his hand. In a time where customer service seems like a quaint custom of the past, I am glad to see that exception customer service is alive and well at the Rite Aid store in Alamo, CA, because of Michael Hsu. I can never remember which drugstore is which. And that is why my prescriptions were moved from CVS (across Danville Blvd) to here. Not that I'm complaining. This drugstore seems perfectly fine. There was some miscommunication between the pharmacist and I when we were first setting up the prescription. She kept looking up his first name as his last name. However, there was quite a bit of distraction on my part as I chased my three-year old around the store. Kind of hard to talk to somebody when you are doing that. Anyway, getting the prescription filled took a bit longer than I expected, but the kids didn't care considering they were able to get cheap ice cream. That's always a BIG plus with Rite Aid that they kept the Thrifty ice cream stands. One word of warning though, you have to wait around a while before somebody comes by to take care of your ice cream needs. read more

After confirming, she explained that she jumped through a few more insurance hoops and got me the most cost effective solution. It saved me a ton of money. Tonight me, my sister and her friend walked into Rite Aid excited to get a scoop of Thrifty ice cream. We waited at the ice cream counter for the cashier to come over. We were the only people in the store. Christopher L was the only employee working. I asked for a sample of pecan praline and his response was "No, it's 2020, get with it." I was appalled and my mood instantly shifted. I asked if he was kidding and he again repeated that it was 2020 and still did not serve me the sample I asked for. At this point I was really annoyed. He proceeded to ask my sister what she wanted to have. After he gave my sister her ice cream he asked if I still wanted the sample and of course I still did. I did not end up ordering anything partially because I was annoyed and partially because I just planned to have some of the pistachio I bought from the freezer section. Don't know if C.L. was bored, trying to make a terrible joke, or just plain rude, but it was not the experience I expected to have today. Also they barely had any of their half gallon ice creams stocked and I had been intending to buy a half gallon of pistachio, but could only get a pint due to their lack of stock. read more

This review is specifically for the Rite Aid pharmacy. I think the staff at this pharmacy has amazing patience with me. I am always calling them without my prescription number and they are always willing to look up my information. I have also been known to request prescriptions at the last minute and need it that day. They have always been very prompt and gotten me the prescriptions that I need under an hour. Sometimes they are as fast as 20 minutes. Two occasions, they were even willing to go beyond the regular scope of business hours to help me out. Once, they left my prescription with the Rite Aid manager because I had to work late and wasn't going to make it in time to pick up my prescription within regular business hours. The second example of great service happened yesterday when I needed to pick up some items after they had closed. They had a little window open and the pharmacist was helping three people, including myself, pick up their prescriptions, 30 minutes after she had closed. She was polite and kind and I really appreciated that she took her time to help three strangers. She even took some time to explain the drugs to a man picking up items for his wife. By the time she was finished with her last customer, me, I would guess she had stayed a full hour after the pharmacy closed. It was amazing. She gives the pharmacy a feeling of community, exudes kindness and what all business should be like. To that pharmacist, it wasn't about getting home sooner, it was about helping the people in her community and I appreciate that. read more

If you would have asked me before today I would have given this pharmacy five stars, however, I was shocked at what I saw today. A young man brazenly walked in with no mask and went directly to the pharmacy counter. I had to wait from a distance , because as we know, Covid cases are spiking again. He went on talking to the pharmacy staff for five minutes before they finally asked him if he would like a mask. He said no thanks and got to go about his business. I am SHOCKED that a pharmacy of all places is not enforcing the law of wearing masks indoors. There are immunocompromised people going to that pharmacy. I feel like they should insist customers wear masks or refuse to serve them. Most businesses do just that so for a pharmacy not to is absurd! read more

This Rite Aid pharmacy is the worst pharmacy I have been to. The concept of customer service such as a smile or a hello is completely unknown to them. I scheduled a Covid vaccine appointment to get my booster shot as they were taking appointments on line. I had completed my health history and insurance information. This morning, I arrived 20 mins early so I could be sure they had all my information. After standing in line at the 'drop off' window for 10 mins, I decided to go to the 'pick up' window to ask my question of whether they needed any other documentations from me. Mind you, they don't even acknowledge you standing there. I mentioned to the clerk at the window that I just wanted to ask a question about my appointment. The pharmacist who was standing next to her, asked me what I needed. I told her that I had made an appointment for my booster shot. She immediately proceeded to ask me if I were immuno- compromised, did I have an organ transplant or had my spleen removed? My answer was no. I wasn't going to lie about it. Unless I attested to one of those health conditions, I couldn't have the booster. Break through infections, if you have had it and suffered through it, they don't care about. I was turned away. Why don't they ask you these questions when you make the appointment and when you fill out your health history? Why do they turn away people who are ready to take the booster when they have trouble getting people to take them to begin with and they end up throwing away vaccines? This pharmacist repeated the same statements to me ' if you have had an organ transplant etc ... again and again. She didn't want to be bothered. I will never bother going there either. read more

Stopped in here the other day for the first time with the family when the man had a hankering for some "Thrifty" ice cream and the daughter was game. Upon walking in, there were tons of fresh plants and flowers ready for gardening which looked wonderful (Toni would have appreciated these). Anyway, this Rite-Aid is large. Much bigger than the Long's Drugs across the street. There was virtually no one there, and when we got in line in front of the ice cream counter, someone came over right away to help us. This is the reason I can give this place 4 stars. $1.19 for a scoop of ice cream!!! $1.69 for a double scoop!! I got giddy at the nostalgia pricing and if I were eating ice cream, would definitely indulge....and often! read more

Don't get your vaccines here. They won't have it in stock. This was my "go to" location for the Covid vaccine, but today when I arrived for my scheduled MMR vaccine appointment, the pharmacist was surprised because they don't have any in stock. She said that the Rite Aid online scheduling tool is not synced to their inventory, so customers can schedule a vaccine and show up expecting to get their vaccine, and then the store doesn't have it in stock. What a total waste of time. How can a pharmacy even call themselves a pharmacy if they set an appointment and then don't have the inventory? It's completely unprofessional and amateur. Go to CVS or any other pharmacy -- they have their appointment tool and inventory tools synced. Pharmacist was unapologetic as well -- she just shrugged. So dark ages. It's such a basic concept to have in stock what you set an appointment for customers to come in for. Rite Aid needs to get with the program. read more

I have been appalled at the lack of knowledge about the prescriptions that I needed filled (new to me as a patient, so how would I know?) From wasting my time with countless trips back to the pharmacy and my Rx being incorrect or not ready (even though I received notifications telling me they were ready) to pharmacists finger pointing between themselves or at customers when they fail to actually do their job. I'm actually just off the phone with my insurance company, because an Rx was still not filled after 1 1/2 weeks of their sitting on it; even after I got an updated Rx from my Dr. This just shows these pharmacists are lazy. You know, I always go in with the hope of finding what I'm looking for and maybe 1 our of 4 times I do just that. I really miss the days of Payless and Longs. I just don't care for the "RiteAid" and "CVS", they seem so impersonal and frankly don't seem to stand up to those Super drugstores of our past. I just can't put a finger on it, but they don't have maybe a lot of the products that the others used to carry? I don't know, my daughter worked for a different Rite Aid a few years back and the management was horrible, and treated her like crap. So I guess this has also jaded my view. I know that Long's was a local company and was good to it's employee's too. So it's tough to go into these stores knowing how poorly the staff is treated. I only really go in here because it's next to my gym and it's a convenient location, if I need something quick before heading home. The staff is somewhat friendly. i sure miss the good old days of having a thrifty or payless drugstore. this rite aid location is a joke. the customer service is always slow and you can never find anyone in a department to help you. if you ever want an ice cream forget about it. it seems in every rite aid i go to especially this one there is never anyone available to serve ice cream. they will then continue to call for service to ice cream but it takes several minutes for anyone to show up. as for the prices and selections of ice cream you will be so much better off finding a baskin robbins. don't get me wrong i love thrifty ice cream but rite aid makes it really hard to love it at rite aid. if i ever need a drugstore to fit my needs the only reliable place to go is longs drugs. read more

Store manager Micahel Hsu is overworked, rude, impatient, and impolite. I'm there few times a week and when cashier needed his approval for a small merchandise item that I had the receipt but not the card, he got super excited and started repeating himself that without the same card people are cheating and bringing back the statement that they have not got the credit. I told him I try to not take this as an insult but store credit is fine and all I told the cashier was that I can't find my card and I want to return them. Store credit is no problem since I'm going to spend it in a few days anyway. I'd never go back there. read more

I am a long time customer of this Rite Aid store. This store is like an old time drug store. The employees all know your name and greet you like their oldest friend when you walk in the door. They always have time to say a few friendly words, ask how you and your family are doing. I have both a CVS and a Walgreens nearby so I have a choice of pharmacies. I would not go to any other pharmacy. The pharmacists have guided me through so many medications with their superior knowledge. In fact they probably saved my life a few times by pointing out medications which should not be taken with other medications. Michael Hsu keeps the store looking like it is brand new and he hires the best employees in the world! Love this pharmacy and the store............oh and the ice cream is a treat too! read more
