Looking for a good place for dinner, this Italian place across the street from the hotel caught my eye, and a pizza sounded good after several days of Mexican food. When I walked into the restaurant in my mind I was immediately taken back to my trip to Italy, to the small town of Acquaviva della Fonti. The owners have done a wonderful job of giving an old Italian neighborhood feel with a modern touch in the decorations! This was impressive in itself. The igloo shaped brick oven adds a nice touch. While it was fired with propane rather than wood, the pizza was still very good. In fact, it was the same kind of thin crust pizza and sauce that I had in Italy. Probably one of the most authentic Italian pizzas I've had anywhere in the Americas. The toppings for the pizza I ordered were decidedly not Italian except for the sausage, (That was as expected; I ordered the "Tijuana al Modo Mio"), but they do offer some of the toppings I saw in Italy. My pizza's crust was great except it was not crispy in the center. Overall I really enjoyed it, and the price for a 14" specialty pizza and drink was less than $10!! To drink I had the fresh pineapple water, very refreshing, though the fibrous pulp made it a little complicated to drink. My servers did a great job and were attentive. My pizza was brought to my table in under 15 minutes. Had it been a little warmer the outside dining area would have been very nice, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience inside. There was music playing but low enough volume to have a good conversation. I really enjoyed this place and recommend it if you're in the area for an old world Italian experience!

Authentic Italian Food in Tijuana! This is across the street from the Hampton Inn in Tijuana. I didn't have high expectations. I was so wrong! The pizza is thin with delicious sauce and cheese. The lasagna was very thick with a rich meat sauce. And the chicken parmesan was amazing! Entrees run eighth around $10. The large pizza was $15. Large wine selection. Highly recommended!

The wifey and I decided to go out for some cocktails and dinner locally and we picked Garbatella…read morewhich is located in the Otay Ranch Mall. The parking was plentiful unlike going to downtown or Hillcrest, or North Park, or Convoy. We went early enough where we didn't have to deal with a crowded restaurant. We started off with our obligatory Old Fashioneds which were delicious. Wifey then got a Oaxacan Old Fashioned which was also delicious. As far as food we started with their calamari which also included some shrimp and a nice cocktail sauce. The calamari and shrimp were very nicely fried and had very nice flavor. For our mains I got the carbonara and wife got lasagna. Both dishes were cooked very well and were yummy. We had a great time tonight at Garbatella and will definitely return.

My wife had the Lobster Ravioli , and I had the Spaghetti Bolognese. Both dishes were absolute garbage. Chef Boyardee out of a can would taste much better than the Spaghetti Bolognese. I'm gonna refrain from commenting on the Lobster Ravioli dish. I motioned to my server to come to the table since she wasn't paying very little attention to our table the whole meal. When she finally came to the table, I handed her my dish and I told her this is terrible and she looked at me with a deer in the headlights stare. I said take it off the bill and she left. Didn't even ask me if I cared for something else or talk to a manager or whatever like good customer service would do. Do not dine in here. There are way better places.
