In what looks like an area in the midst of gentrification, the bakery is located in a pocket of restaurants and shops. We were fortunate to find free street parking out front. A pay for parking lot is nearby. Late arrival around 1:30pm while enroute to Asheville. Fortunately, a variety of treats were still available. The aroma of fresh bread was amazing! Since this was the start of our trip, bread was not on our list. Wish they were open on Sunday when we are heading back to GA! Loaves and baguette options were calling my name. I love bakeries and particularly one with talented chefs who create kouigan amman . Very tasty despite the smallish size for $4. The cinnamon roll was also delicious and devoured. The Village Grind is definitely a busy spot, but they've got plenty of space and the service is still super fast. The coffee was great--I ended up going back again during my two-day stay, which says a lot. They also host pop-ups from local businesses, which is a nice touch and fun way to support the community. Parking can be a bit tricky, but we found free parking a couple blocks away. Also drank my coffee too fast and forgot a pic... but the fact I went back again tells you everything. read more

hmm I expected way more from this place. With everyone raving about it being so great I guess I thought it would be better. I went in for some pastries and everything was laminated and a chocolate chip cookie. Nothing really stood out and everything looked like they left it in the over for a few minutes too long. Everything was baked hard and looked close to tasting bitter and over done. I know some bakeries claim that's the French way but we're not in France. We can not borderline burn things. Anyway I considered the almond croissant But it looked skimming like 4 sliced almonds on top and I just knew the inside wouldn't have nearly enough filling for me. I finally settled for a baguette since I was already there and made the drive from Atlanta, I had to buy something. The baguette was decent and had a nice sour Dough flavor. Great Fresh Bread, Great Service, and a wonderful family-friendly atmosphere-- what more can you ask for in a local business? Cute lil bakery offering everything from a danish to cinnamon roll to breakfast sammy to homemade cheeses n butter! Oh and the have a full coffe n tea bar with in house made syrups including ear grey or juniper syrup! The latte I ordered was perfect creamy with little foam as requested and hot enough that I could zip on it for a bit to enjoy! It's located in an artsy area of west Greenville that seems to be going through a transition of some sort! The cherry cream danish was excellent- real cherries not that yucky compote stuff and real vanilla cream and just enough sweet to enjoy but not nauseating artificial sweet! RISE is the best fucking bakery I've ever been to. Some of the best coffee, pastries, BREAD, and people. Every employee there treats you with immense respect and care, they truly want what's best for you. They make sure you get what you came in for; whatever is gonna make your mouth buds tingle, lips twitch, and will fill that void inside your tummy. And if you came in to find that something is out-of-stock, then the team is sure to find a substitute. The seasonal items just get better and better, where I'm left wanting to write a strongly worded email to the owner to keep them year-round, but I never hit "send" because I know something great is right around the corner (still debating sending one about the matcha cookie... make it year round man that SHIT WAS FIREEEEEEUH). I want to say Rise should be more popular, but I'm selfish and want it all to myself. Rise is hands down the coolest place I visit, one of the few places I regularly do. Hell, I'm writing this review drinking an insane Maple Cinnamon Hot Coffee and chasing it with a juicy cardamom bun. Outside of the food and drinks they sell, the building and location is supreme. The shirts, stickers, and bags are all top-shelf and if I were rich I'd buy them all. They decorate for the seasons and make everyone feel warm and welcome. With all the change that's happening in the world and life, it's nice to know you can walk through those front doors and always know what to expect; a bakery that treats you like family. read more

Friendly faces as soon as I walked in and a delicious smell of bread. It is easy to see the chefs making yummy items from the front, that was fun to see. I had a chocolate croissant with beautiful lamination and a buttery taste. Also had the morning bun, I would say that was good but not amazing...a little bit drier that I like but I would get it again. The only real negative is price, items are about 10-20% more expensive than other places or than expected. Overall, I would still recommend. read more

Husband and I ordered the baguettes--ham for me, turkey for my husband. They looked delicious but we could not bite through the crust. Took them apart and still could not bite through the crust. Does not disappoint! I moved to Greenville in January and have bought bread, cookies and pastries from Rise Bakery on multiple occasions. Haven't had anything that hasn't been off the hook! The pastries were expensive and dry. I was not pleased with my purchase. Also, a lot of the baked goods they make, I can not eat. I just wanted real Italian bread. My son lives in Greenville and regularly brings us breads and pastries, I can honestly say these are some of the best pasties I have ever eaten in the USA or around the world. Every bread and pastry we have eaten has been excellent or beyond excellent. The breads are crusty on the outside and fluffy inside. The pastries are buttery, sweet without being overly sweet, this bakery is a gem. read more

All of the pastries and loafs looked fresh and tasty and they were unique and special seeming too (everything bagel danish, cardamom bun, hazelnut bun, etc).
