I visited Rise Above Floatation for a surprise anniversary gift. I've been wanting to try a deprivation floating tank for a long time and was finally able to do so! There was adequate parking available specifically for a few local businesses including Rise Above. Upon entering the building, I noticed how beautiful the decor was. We were greeted immediately and the guy working was very calm and easy going. He walked us through start to finish and allowed us to see which room we wanted because there was no one else scheduled for our time slot (3 rooms total). The choices were a pod that closes and opens automatically, a large open room (no walls surrounding the "bathtub" except for the room that you're in, and the extra large "bathtub" that is enclosed with walls and doors. Each room has a shower with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, ear plugs, Vaseline (for cuts before getting in), face wipes, towels, and a spray bottle with water in case you get salt in your eyes. He gave us 5 minutes before our start time to shower off any oils before getting in and 5 minutes after to shower off the salt (and told us to take our time when getting out, no need to rush). There was music in the beginning and at the end to get you started/let you know when your time is up and the lights turn on/off automatically. There is a help button in case you run into any issues. The tank itself is really neat and I was able to shut my mind off pretty quickly. The room is pitch black and there are no lights. You are completely deprived of reality and you are there floating in just the water and in silence. It's an insane experience floating in water and being so relaxed that I may have forgotten that I had legs and that I wasn't floating through space or a river. Your mind really does change during this experience. I am in complete relaxation mode even hours after experiencing the deprivation tank. I can't wait to go again and maybe even add a massage to the package next time! read more

I am a bit claustrophobic and decided to try the open float room. I had never done a float before and I was a bit nervous. I won't go into all the details, but I did not like the experience at all; I got out halfway through because I couldn't take another minute! However, I didn't want the other two sessions to go to waste, so I decided to give it another try and my husband, who was excited to try the pod, joined me. This time Ryan gave us the orientation before we started and he had some excellent tips for helping us enjoy the experience. His guidance made all the difference and I had a much better float. The water was pretty cool but for the first time I really would have liked the water a little bit warmer. This was a great experience where you can have soothing ambient music playing under the water. I had to get used to the lights being out but you can have the chance to turn them off or on. When time is up the hostess is able to turn the lights on for you to wake up or turn the music on if you originally had it off. The shower is available as well as shampoo conditioner and body wash. At the end of the day, this experience is really blissful and very much needed for the high pace and stressful place that we live in. read more

I just did my very 1st session of Flotation Therapy. I is the most serene experience ever! Floating weightless in the pod until I drifted off into a deep sleep. I woke as the pod opened an hour later amazed. Better than a message but will get one next time I go. I can't imagine feeling better than I do now but the two combined could put it over the top! Rise Above is beautifully decorated. The entire place is kept immaculate and products are higher end. Rich made me feel so at ease & explained everything so well that I wasn't nervous at all. I like the policy of showering before. Just another way I knew cleanliness is so important to them. $85 for 60 minutes of peace and tranquility the way the world is right now is a small price to pay. I heard of the "pay whatever you want" flotation promotion from a friend and I decided to try Rise above flotation out. Boy, am I glad I did. Upon arrival I already felt relaxed because of the dim lighting. I was so ready for my session. The room had an extra large tub for Closter phobic people with an in shower (love that tiny detail). All of the necessities needed were supplied ie: soap, contact solution, contact case, shampoo, towels, ear plugs. Management definitely knows what they are doing and how to cater to their customers. The owner was excellent. He took time to explain how everything works since this was my first flotation experience. The room and entrance were very clean and very cozy and inviting. I went for my first float yesterday - 90 minutes in the tranquility pod. I had a great experience upon entering. The place was clean and appropriately decorated to set the proper setting for the experience. Craig was friendly and open to all of my questions. As for the experience: It was interesting, for sure. I fell into a dreamy mental state with my body feeling suspended in space. At times, I didn't feel like I had body. Complete relaxation. I write this 2 star review regrettably. I bought two gift certificates initially for my mother and a friend because I read about the wonderful health benefits and thought they would be up her ally. To my dismay, I was wrong and she kindly gave them back to me. Luckily, something like this is totally up my ally. I went today with my husband and as first timers, we were definitely looking forward to 60 minutes of quiet and relaxation. We were booked for the open room and the pod room. I did ask previously if I could keep the pod open and still get the same experience and I was told I could and it would be the same. Closing it this time seemed a little scary so I didn't. Our first stop was the open room which was nice and humid. I opted to give my husband that room since this whole thing was my idea and the pod freaked us both a bit out, him more than me. We were told that music is available and we could control it from the tank. I expected this because I did my research hand and read about it. Come to the pod room, I was disappointed to learn I did not have any music control actually. Bummer. Fast forward, once I got into the pod, I turned off the lights and attempted to fully immerse myself in this experience. I chose to ignore the fact that I couldn't hear any music which I had wanted to (and told the man) but I could not ignore the fact that I was FREEZING! The temperature of the room was NOT humid like my husbands and the contrast between the luke warm salt water and cold room was too much to bare. I kept dipping from side to side to try and keep my body in the water. I actually got out to contact the man and he told me he could heat up the room and tank but it would " take a while." He sounded caring but clearly new and unable to help. 15 minutes into the float, i decided that the temperature was just too uncomfortable and got out. I showered, explained the situation, got refunded and left while my husband finished his session. I really wanted this to work and I won't even be able to realistically try it again another time. It was hard enough to get there today. I wish I had been given a proper tutorial about this temperature aspect so i could have known what to expect. I also wish the website was more clear about the music. The website says you can use your phone to choose music and control the volume but this is misleading. I know it's supposed to be silent because it's sensory deprivation but still. It also would have been nice if they had offered tea or paper to journal, as the website indicates they do. Thought this would have been more spa like but oh well. Won't be back. read more

Found this joint for my wife cause her body has been feeling sore from the baby belly. I did the smaller floatation and she did the bigger pool. This was definitely a different experience. I really enjoyed it until I got the water in my mouth and eyes haha. My wife really enjoyed floating in the pool and she said it really helped with her back pain. I'm not sure if my container was supposed to be hot but I wish it was. For people that have brains that race a thousand miles per hour. This is a good test and adventure. I was actually able to calm my mind for a little bit. There's nothing to be afraid of and the staff is super friendly. It's a bit expensive so I don't know when I'll be coming back, but I would definitely say it's worth trying at least once. read more

Came here last night for a 60 minute float and massage. Very zen decor and friendly employees. Was asked to move to a different tub because they were running over time. Tried out the open float room instead of extra wide tub. They seemed the same to me, the open float tub was massive and I sidnt feel claustrophobic at all. Really nice rain shower and hair and body products in the rooms to shower off with before hand. The float was really great, I never heard music- could've been because I put the earplugs in but all in all was a really good first float experience. Super realizing and the hour went by quick. After I got the 60 minute massage done with Marinel- absolutely phenomenal. Cannot say enough good words about his massages, felt like a new person afterwards. He consistently made sure he was applying the right pressure, he was very detail oriented. I like the idea of floating but wasn't really for me, but will definitely be back for Marinel's massages. Also- make sure you call them to book an appointment instead of doing it online- I booked half of it online because it was the only option and paid for the massage when I got there and they overcharged me by quite a bit instead of the package price. I opted for the open float room (hoping to resolve my claustrophobic fears and graduate to the pod one day). After my rain shower I settled into the warm water and ambient music of the tank - true zen. The 60 minute floating session is a great way to quiet the mind and minimize unnecessary distractions. I was looking for a place to help with this severe neck and shoulder pain that I had been experiencing. A chiropractor helped somewhat, but I needed something more. I went on Yelp and looked for massage places, and that is when I came across Rise Above Flotation. Thankfully I was able to make an appointment for the same day and they were flexible to my schedule. I came in tight and sore and walked out feeling so relaxed w/o any neck or back pain. I had never even heard of this floating until today, but it was such a cool and relaxing experience. It was especially nice to do that before a 60 minute massage that immediately followed. I'm a tax professional and this time of year I work sixteen hours per day every single day so when Rich was incredibly considerate enough to check in with me today just to see how I was doing I jumped at the chance to grab a 6 PM float. It was the BEST float I have had to date, probably because of my work schedule. I've been going to Rise Above on a monthly (sometimes more often) basis and always have a great experience.

You are well cared for the minute you walk in the door, and you know it. The facilities are pristine and the float rooms are both lovely and awesome. What I did not understand before I was given my introductory tutorial is that the float session is totally within my control, from lighting to the status of the tank (open, closed, partly open, etc.), all of which is controlled from within the tank. There is even a panic button! And fresh water in a spray bottle is provided in case you manage to get salt in your eyes. You are also provided with ear plugs to keep the salt water out of your ears and Vaseline to protect any open cuts or raw cuticles from the salt. The shower is a nice overhead rain shower and the towels are clean, fluffy and absorbent. How wonderful! I used the "womb room" and was thoroughly satisfied with my experience - it exceeded even my expectations. I will be back soon to enjoy a variety of float experiences because I have never felt as relaxed in my life as I did when I emerged from the tank. The hour passed too quickly - I was truly surprised when the light came on to signal that my session was at its end. I recommend this experience and this provider very highly. read more

The owner is fantastic, the place is relaxing and spotless, there is a choice of 3 different size tanks, they atmosphere is warm and inviting, there is no need to bring anything as all supplies like towels and shampoo and even contact lens cleaners and hairdryers are there, they price is great and there is free parking outside! I called and spoke with the owner, Micah, asking him about 10 different questions about the process, who was more than happy to answer anything and everything that I had concerns about. We booked an appointment for the very next day and again, met Micah who was great! He took his time explaining the process to us both. We did not feel rushed at all. The location is well decorated and very relaxing. I loved the dark wood used to set the tone of the place. I knew there were separate float rooms, but I think I was expecting something more sterile and clinical, instead of tranquil and pleasant. The pod room felt like a large exquisite bathroom in a five-star hotel. When the owner walked through the instructions and told me to shower, I didn't get where he was pointing. There was an overhead rainfall shower head in the corner and the entire floor was shower flooring. Even the shower was pleasant with quality bath products. I meditate a lot in a small dark space, so I felt comfortable in the tank, for my first time. I definitely went into the theta state, half awake and half asleep. Interestingly, I didn't feel like this was much different from my regular meditation sessions, except for the floating. Then, I got out 60-minutes later. OMG, I was so relaxed I could barely move. I felt like I was moving in slow motion. On my drive home, I was so passive I wondered if I should even be driving. This feeling lasted for hours and it was amazing. This was NOT like my regular meditation. I am very much looking forward to my next session! read more
