This place is a hidden gem. If you play sports or have kids that play sports, you need to know about this place. While they seem to dedicate a majority to baseball/softball, they have some soccer and football gear. Risan also provides meeting areas for sports teams and they also provide a uniform service for sports teams. While this place is not the biggest and the inventory is not online the service here is fantastic, The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to help. Ive been to Risan several times over the past couple months for our select baseball team to pick up gear and uniforms. Our go to person we've been ordering from is Kristin, but I've been in and received help from Ryan and multiple different folks. All are welcoming and helpful. I wish I would have known about Risan a couple seasons back when we were having trouble finding cleats. They had a TON of options, same goes for bats ( they even had the Fire bat which was one of my son's top asked for bday items). There was a day recently where Kristin was not in, and I was able to still get a response from her via email and her coworker even text her to get a response. The team at Risan cares about their customers and that's rare to find nowadays. Every time I've been in I see someone else there getting great service, and you can tell they've had some relationships with local schools and teams for years and years. I also like that they're able to do small batch orders. We were considering doing a dozen hats for parents and Kristin was more than happy to get quotes for me. Played 20+ years of baseball in the Seattle area and can confidently say that Risan was my go to store for pro-style equipment. I have bought a few pairs of pants at Risan and I still have never found a more comfortable pair in the 25 years I played. Just like ordering high end stuff from a catalog but save the shipping and be able to physically try it out. Staff is always friendly and informative and not pushy sales guys. I've been going to Athletic Supply in Redmond to buy baseball, soccer, softball, etc. stuff for a while. One of the other Little League parents turned me onto Risan Athletics (http://www.risan.com) when we ordered custom hoodies for the boys to match their uniforms. Since then, it's been my preferred place to buy baseball, softball, and soccer stuff. Unlike Athletic Supply, these sports seem to be pretty much their specialty and they do it very well. The staff is very knowledgeable such as the pros and cons of bat lengths, weights, useful lifetime, etc. They were really great with my kids who enjoyed shopping there. Their selection is just right. You worry at first that they won't have the right size and color but they have one or two of each size and color. They must manage their suppliers well because things seem to come back quickly. The quality of their brands is great too. They have bats from $29 to $299 from what I saw - again everything you'd need but not racks of duplicates. They have great cleats, shorts, jerseys, sweatshirts, bats, balls, gloves, mitts, etc. We browsed the soccer stuff and they have a great selection. I'm sure we'll return this fall for soccer stuff. You can walk in the small store with nothing and walk out fully outfitted with all the great equipment you'll need on the field. Their pricing was competitive. It might be $5 more there than another store for a pair of pants but they're nice Wilson baseball pants. On most things they're price competitive with any specialty sports place. Sure it's more expensive than the crap you buy at Target or Fred Meyer but they have tried-and-true brands that have all the design tweaks learned over years of real use by real athletes. The store is a little hard to find. The first time you go there, you'll probably drive past the driveway and need to turn around. The driveway is literally right at the v-intersection. The store is tucked into the back of an unassuming industrial-looking building but it's worth the short drive. read more

Stop going anywhere else - this is the only sports store you'll ever need. Can't believe it took us this long to find it. I live in Kirkland, and I admit that I have been using Big 5 Sports for all of my son's football gear because it was fairly close to home. However, when Big 5 and Sports Authority recently closed down, I found Risan by chance in a Google search, and we are so glad we did! It's a bit hard to find - back in an industrial area near Totem Lake - but totally worth it. They not only had all of the (name-brand) gear he wanted and needed for football this year, but Risan's prices were beyond reasonable and I spent below my budget! Plus, they were super helpful. My most recent experience there seals it: yesterday I was in Redmond on an errand and went into "another sports store" nearby, looking for Lake Washington spirit gear. Not only were they rude at this other store, but they didn't have what I wanted so I stopped by Risan on the way home. Now, to be honest Risan doesn't carry a ton of high-school-specific spirit gear - although I did buy my son a great LW bag there, which they put his name on, and he loves - but I found a purple kids' jersey that fit me and the owner quickly rushed to add my son's name and number on the back, as well as "LW" on the front, and was done within minutes. Boom - I have something to wear to all the games! They also had some LW arm sleeves, which I picked up. Thanks to everyone at this store for being so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.
