Our Kid recommended this spot. It's a ways from home, but well worth the drive! The Lilly Pad is at…read morea marina- like people pulled up in a boat and grabbed a table. All of the seating is outside, mostly under large awnings. The weather was perfect - not too hot, not too humid, with a beautiful breeze off the James River and Hopewell downwind. We decided to splurge because we're not going to have any leftovers so we ordered a 12" Lilly Pad Pizza to go, and that's lunch sorted for the next couple of days. It's a white pizza with pesto and pine nuts and looks really good. Can't wait to try it! But we have to wait because we ate like little piggies. Bride ordered a limeade- made in house, wonderfully tart - and a shrimp Po'boy. It came with a whole layer of pickles and a half dozen large fried shrimp. The Cajun fries come as the standard po'boy side, and they were fried just right- not too crispy, not too greasy. Their Cajun seasoning is on point. I got sweet tea, which was fine, and a Mushroom Swiss burger which was large, delicious, and actually cooked medium as requested. I upgraded to sweet potato fries which were actually waffle fries- a nice change of pace- and the frying was great again- it's so easy to burn them because of the sugar content, but these were pretty much perfect. For dessert, we both opted for the piña colada cheesecake, a regular cheesecake with their signature rum pineapples and toasted coconut on top. Delicious! The service was excellent, the venue had a fantastic view and the vibe was delightful. The total, before tip, was $78. And the menu is online, so we're already planning what to try next time!

For drinks, we ordered guava and traditional mimosas, along with a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was honestly one of the best I've ever had! We shared the breakfast pizza, which was to die for and surprisingly filling. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on Texas toast. The eggs were fluffy, and the crispy homestyle potatoes were the perfect side. My mom ordered the Hangover Burger, and even though she normally isn't a burger person, she tore it up! The onions were beautifully caramelized, and all the flavors came together wonderfully. Great food, drinks, music, and waterfront views--I will definitely be back!

Several servers came over right away to ask our drink orders and give us menus. My husband ordered the country fried steak with gravy and eggs, and I got the chicken and waffles and a side of grits. Everything was very tasty. This might seem like a small thing, but the iced tea was fresh brewed and very good. I cannot stand iced tea that comes out of a machine or that is powdered. This was clearly fresh and they served it in big mason jars. This is one of my key things with a restaurant. If they don't have freshly brewed tea, I really don't enjoy my meal as much. I was thankful that this place had great tea. The server checked on us throughout the meal. We would definitely go back again.

Mimi ordered the fried pork chop (4.5/5, thin cut but seasoned and fried well)meal with mashed potatoes (2.9/5) and collard greens (a bit dry...leave the "pot liquor" thats where the flavor resides, lol). I visited on June 4th for my birthday dinner with my best friend. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. on a Thursday and didn't need a reservation. The restaurant is located in the Highlands community on a golf course, though you'd never know it from the atmosphere. There was a bingo event happening in the main dining room, so we were seated in the bar area. At first I was hesitant, but it turned out to be perfect. The space had a full-length bar with a separate dining area, and while sports were playing on large TVs, the sound was off so it never distracted from dinner. Our waitress, Jenna, was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and every recommendation she made was spot on. She didn't miss a thing and handled everything with a smile. I ordered the whipped piña colada, which was dangerously delicious! For appetizers, we shared the crab and shrimp dip and the steak and cheese egg rolls. The dip was amazing, especially paired with the soft pita-style bread instead of hard chips. The egg rolls were perfectly crispy and filled with melty steak and cheese. For our entrées, I had the shrimp tacos and my friend ordered the sweet Thai salmon. We both chose jasmine rice and roasted corn as our sides. Everything was seasoned well, and after trying a bite of the salmon, I can honestly say this is the first restaurant where I'll confidently order salmon for myself next time. The only minor complaint we had was that the rice portion was small--it was so good that three forkfuls just weren't enough! Even though we were stuffed, we took home slices of the banana pudding cheesecake. It was delicious and balanced the banana pudding flavor without taking away from the cheesecake itself. This family-owned restaurant is a must-visit if you're in the area. Great food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Tonight (Friday), as soon as we opened the doors of the cars, we smelled the smoker right away and everyone in our party smiled. When we got inside, we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. The restaurant is clean with a great atmosphere (airplane motif) and we could see small planes taking off and landing from where we sat. Great start to a great evening. The Friday evening buffet had a nice selection of fried fish, shrimp, fish, oysters and chicken, with ribs and pulled pork, salad bar, clam chowder, sides and desserts. Everything is made in house and is brought to the buffet in small portions, but they never run out of anything. They also had a shrimp bar where tacos, Alfredo, and scampi is made fresh to order. We were extremely satisfied. As we were finishing up our meal, Candace and Logan (the owners) came by the table to visit and they are the sweetest people. THEN Candace asked if we'd like some tea. This woman had an entire tea cart with at least 20 teas! She took the time to explain the teas (classics like mint and dandelion and some I'd never heard of like grape and strawberry green tea) various sugars and honeys. She even gave me a few teas to take home to try! After an already delicious meal, top notch hospitality, this just took it off the charts. I told my husband that it felt like we were on vacation and we were less than 10 minutes from our house. All of this for $25 per person! Overall a really wonderful experience and we'll definitely be adding this to our regular rotation. Thank you all for making us feel so welcomed and even a little spoiled!
