The server we had was a complete dick. His arrogance made me want to leave immediately. But since we had a party of 9 and it was the last night of our family vacation I decided to stay. After having to talk them into it we were able to get our sirloin tips cooked well done. Visited twice on vacation: Great bar staff, tourists drinking buckets of slushy drinks, they had champagne by the glass - a festive way to start vacation. Live, laid back guitar music (different singers) also adds to the beachy vibe. 1st dinner was Coconut Cay Mahi, was crispy but sweet and the Cay sauce was almost dessert-like - overly sweet. (05/15/22) 2nd dinner was stuffed grouper $36. The grouper was buried, topped with a "stuffing" that was charred outside, yet mushy/pasty inside. Besides the occasional whole shrimp, the rest was indistinguishable and edible. (05/21/22) Bar staff is friendly and fast. We just went there last night, and my husband got the stuffed grouper, my daughters, a burger, my other daughter, the avocado, chicken wrap, and myself the fish cakes. Honestly was all very good and literally we all finished everything. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a good IPA on top but you can't have everything. Lol the parking was pretty tight but we were also here for GP so that's to be expected. The way it was only 30 minutes which was about radon. I really love sitting outside next to live music. The atmosphere was fabulous and the cocktail I had was good as well. I don't think you'll be disappointed definitely try it out and if you're in that way stairs it seems like the place to go. I was there with a party of 30 on a weeknight and the food and drinks just kept on coming. Smoked Fish Dip - I had never tried a Florida Fish Dip before so I was excited to test it out. The dip wasn't as smokey as I thought it might be. Mayo, lime juice and some other ingredients to make something that has a similar consistency to tuna salad/chicken salad fillings. Served with tortilla chips, salsa and jalapenos. Overall this starter was just okay to me. Gator Tail Bites - Breaded and fried, it tastes like chicken! Okay, that's what everyone always says. The gator bites here are cornmeal breaded and fried and served with remoulade. No fishiness taste at all. Gator is kind of like chicken, but I feel it's a little chewier when you are biting. Stuffed NY Strip - 12 oz NY strip steak stuffed with grilled jumbo shrimp, garlic Boursin cheese and drizzled with a balsamic glaze. It's as crazy as it sounds. These and the steak and the balsamic surprisingly worked. It was packed with five or six shrimp inside. Was the dish really good? Yes. Would I order it again? Maybe, this is one of those dishes where you have to be really hungry and in the mood for all of that, because there is tons going on. Add on my onion rings and stuff baked potato on the side, I ate past my fill line. Riptides is also famous for their raw bar (oysters anyone?) and all you can eat snow crab. I would've gotten the crab but I didn't want to be the one justifying my spend amount on my expense report while everyone else was keeping it reasonable. Maybe next time! One word...AMAZING!!! Absolutely AMAZING!!! Everything was perfect!!! We ordered a dozen baked oysters with garlic butter and Parmesan as appetizer. So delicious...we had to order another dozen. Son got mahi sandwich and loved it. Daughter got a grilled chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun and loved it. Wife got the shrimp and grits and smashed it. I asked the waiter for a popular selection. Was trying for a different place and found it was closed so decided to try Riptides. Found parking right away and we're seated promptly. If you're looking for an ocean view choose another location as our view was the valet parking lot next door and the busy street. The Rumicane Shrimp ($14) as a starter was delicious but disappointing that there were 5. Never like to arm wrestle the hubs for the last one! Charge $16 and put 6 on the plate! We had drinks - the Orange Pilsner and a Ruby Red Mojito- they were tasty and the mojito had plenty of mint. We split the stuffed grouper ($34) and enjoyed it very much! The food was delicious, the service was good and prices were expected. The only downside was that people kept coming over near the table where we were sitting and smoking. This restaurant is on the main strip and just on the back of Ormond Beach. The menu was vast but I read reviews about the crab legs and this was today's mission. With no distractions and no appetizers...I dove straight in! Their crab legs and their seasoning were very, very good. Sometimes (remarkably), people can get crab legs wrong. The boy had Mahi Mahi sandwich and thought it was well cooked and tasty. His fish was cooked perfectly and was not at all dry. I've subtracted a point for ambience. This restaurant is on the main stretch and it is difficult to get a seat outside. The interior is actually quite sad and if you're ok with eating in a dark room on a bright sunny day...you won't be perturbed. While eating a small bowl of Overpriced clam chowder, I bit down on a very hard object, it jolted the whole right side of my face. I found that I had chipped my tooth on whatever it was. I informed the manager what had happened and informed him that I would need to see a Dentist. The next day another piece of the tooth fell out. I now have a large portion of the interior of the tooth exposed. This will require a crown. I sent an estimate to the Manager, a Mr Blesser. I was assured this would be taken care of. Since then I have received no communication and am actively being avoided by the management and now the owner also. They are to busy to speak with me or call me back. I am now forced to have an $1800.00 dental procedure done due to their negligence. Beware of this place, if something like this happens to you or your family you will be met with same avoidance I have experienced. I now have to go through the aggravation of the procedure and having a Lawyer pursue damage recovery. Go somewhere else!! read more

It came to a point where we asked staff multiple times when our table would be ready after they told us 10 more minutes, which another person said 30-40. It made absolutely no sense. When we were finally sat, we ordered appetizers that weren't bad. The Caribbean Chicken Nachos were pretty good, but the sauce wasn't too flavorful. Still enjoyable though. I waited to try the jerk chicken on the nachos and made my decision to get the Jerk Chicken Wrap as my meal. The calamari was a bit chewy. We all ordered our entrees and when we got them, some of us received completely incorrect meals and/or wrong sides. We wondered how that was possible since we all saw the waitress write down the orders. It was also a little strange that there were about 5/6 staff members who brought the food to the table for us. They left some sides on the table so I tried the cilantro-lime rice.....tasteless. My jerk chicken wrap looked unpleasant and when I picked it up to take a bite, it was SOAKED and fell apart! Then I asked for a glass of ice three times before I finally got one. Okay no biggie on that.
