Rod's Crabshack is a gem of a seafood spot in Arlington. They offer fresh seafood by the pound or you can let them do the cooking and get some delicious food to go. We got this entire spread for $58 + tax. It includes (1lb each): 1. A sides tray consisting of two half-ears of corn, a whole large russet potato, three hard-boiled eggs, and a smoked sausage. 2. Garlic Blue Crabs 3. Steamed peel-and-eat shrimp 4. Two large snow crab claw clusters We also got two pints of seasoned butter on the side. No one "needs" two pints of butter, but I'm never going to say "no" to it either.

This place is great! Small shop, one guy working. He was so nice and friendly. The food is dang good, and the prices are fantastic, especially for what you get. Not pictured, the fried gizzard. Delicious! I can't wait to come back. Thanks for a great dinner!

Just moved to Jax and finding a seafood place without losing an arm and a leg has been a challenge. Paleek the GM was awesome finding me a good mix of seafood for Christmas dinner. Even had a nice boil seasoning package. From the time I called, to visiting the store he made me feel like longtime friends sharing cooking angles. Support this business!

I went here based on the good Yelp reviews and left very happy! First - the prices! I got a huge box of crabs for $20. They have a selection of seafood in the case that is already steamed. They can heat it up for you or you can heat it up at home. They also ask if you want it spicy or not and give you garlic butter to go. I was a little bit confused by all of the platters and what was included in each one. I didn't want the potatoes and corn and everything and the man working told me I could get just the crabs. I also browsed their fresh fish and oyster section. There are SO many good options for so cheap! The man working was super friendly and helped me since it was my first time there. He gave me a menu that listed out all of their fried baskets. I ordered just a side of 6 fried shrimp and it was only $3. OMG these were literally the best fried shrimp I have ever had. The breading was delicious and they weren't soaked in grease. We waited only about 10 minutes for our food to be ready. I will definitely get these again next time. I also want to try their crab legs. This was a great first experience. There is a parking lot out front.

Rods is located on Monument in a strip mall. Blink and you'll miss it! Rod gets all his seafood from Mayport, so it's as fresh as you can get! He runs daily specials(see photos). From shrimp, crab, oysters to dinner trays, he will fix you up! You can get the raw or go with the cooked trays, which come with sausage, baked potato and corn on the Cobb. He will even heat it up for ya. Ask for the butter on the side if you don't want a mess in your vehicle though;) Also available for purchase are seasonings ( low-country boil staple), drinks from the cooler and dessert. It's great to run in and get take out for lunch or dinner. It's not a restaurant though. Tell him Mechelle "Jeep lady" sent you!

Drove all the way from Utah to visit Florida. Found this mom and pop seafood boil restaurant. We got the Crab, crawfish, shrimp, fried shrimp, corn, potato, egg, and extra special butter sauce. The seafood was covered in their special butter sauce and topped off with dry seasonings. So flavorful and yum yum yum! My husband wants to go back tomorrow. We agreed that this is our new favorite seafood restaurant, which says a lot because we used to live in California and know good food. They also had prepared foods ready to go, so if you are looking for a quick bite, definitely should try this place. Lots of seasonings, condiments, fresh seafood, and other things you can purchase to make your own seafood boil at home. Even bulk items that are pre packaged. The gentleman that helped us was super sweet and helpful. Walked us through how to order and the cheapest way to order it. So thoughtful and patient! The price was so ridiculously cheap, came out to $30! Wow! Don't remember the last time seafood was this cheap. There is indoor and outdoor dining available as well. Cute decor and ambiance. Feels like a restaurant right on the harbor. Must try!

On my journey of trying new places without needing a chaperone, I ended up traveling to Rod's for seafood. 1. Everything is so clean and bright inside. You don't smell that fishy smell and can see all the seafood available on ice and kept cold (looking delicious). 2. I said it was my first time there and the owner was just so welcoming and engaging (and easy on the eyes LOL). He told me all the choices and let me taste test one of the drinks I had my eye on (Rod's Special = delicious!). 3. Ended up with fried oysters (they were cooked to perfection - crunchy exterior with soft juicy center YUMMM! I got the snow crab combo with spicy seasoning and the amount of butter that was given OMG!! and a beautiful piece of cake. I don't know how he knew but the cake choice was superb! I'm not a BIG chocolate cake fan so what I got and the portion size of PERFECTO!! (Don't mind the cake pic, it fell over when I turned a corner going home ) 4. Everything tasted WONDERFUL! And the fact that they have raw food I can buy to make myself and the ARRAY of seasonings for sale to use... Let's just say when I have a craving, I'll be coming back here.

I got raw oysters. They were pretty fresh. I didn't get anything else, so I can't give it full proof rating.

Need something healthy? The fresh catch with seared green beans is a go to! Service - there is a young lady (wish I noted her name, previously blonde but was brunette at our last visit) who always provided prompt, friendly service if we were in her section. If we were seated in an area being serviced by the bartender, it was a given that service would be very slow. At our last visit, we were seated by someone who said she would be right back with waters. She disappeared into the kitchen area & about 10m later, I saw her view our table and realize she had forgotten our waters. The restaurant was always less than halfway occupied during these visits, so the service issues were always surprising to me. Food - The reason we returned for multiple visits is because my mother loved their fried shrimp platter. I tried the shrimp and fries and they were great! I can also recommend the Fish Club which I enjoyed on a couple of visits. What I cannot recommend is the Caesar salad with shrimp (dressing was terrible and the shrimp had little flavor) or the crab cakes which they serve burnt not browned. I've included a pic directly from their website that indicates that my order wasn't a fluke.

I've been numerous times over the years, this latest visit was for a large birthday party- so…read morelarge, we basically took over the upstairs! Quay was our personal server and I think he was our bartender too- although there was another person back and forth behind the bar. We added a little chaos to the mix with a handful of family who showed without rsvp-ing. Add in toddlers plus easily 15 people.... Yeah- mad respect for Quay!!! I admit to being sad that I couldn't get my broiled platter- that is my favorite Fish Camp dish, and apparently not available for lunch. I pivoted and got the steam pot for 2. For myself. And guess what- I ate all the crab, hmmm so happy! Laugh- it was hilarious, I was still cracking crab while everyone sung happy birthday! I was thrilled. I brought home most of the potatoes, corn and such- it even had mushrooms and broccoli! YUM! My old fashioned was also perfection in a glass. John had the shrimp and fish basket and loved every bite. Several raved about the shrimp and grits. Caron loved her mahi mahi. Connor got the Spicy Wild Caught Shrimp Linguine with White Wine, Garlic, Tomato, Pecorino and inhaled it! Even the kiddos were super happy with the kids chicken strips, although the kitchen delivered the first plate to the wrong toddler and the lovely parents didn't question how they got food without ordering and that little girl dug right in. Opposite end of the table- this grandma spoke up and we split the food so all the littles were fed. Considering our chaotic group, it went very well. I didn't hear a single complaint from our party. Hopefully we didn't drive the staff too crazy!

I used to absolutely love this place. It was our go-to for seafood, celebrations, family dinners,…read moreand special occasions for years. We recommended it constantly and genuinely enjoyed supporting them. Unfortunately, after our last few experiences, that loyalty is completely gone. The problems really started during a dinner visit with my spouse. We had a reservation for two and specifically requested a booth because my spouse has herniated discs and booths are much easier on her back. The hostess with glasses told us there were "no booths available for parties of two," so we were seated at a tiny two-top directly in front of an empty booth. Minutes later, another couple - who apparently didn't even have the correct downstairs reservation because Wheel House was closed for a private event - was seated in that exact booth instead. When I politely questioned it, I was told they were "accommodating them." Interesting, because apparently accommodating a medical issue for customers with a reservation didn't matter. Still, we decided to give the restaurant another chance for Mother's Day. To their credit, we were seated at a booth this time after I both noted it in the reservation and called ahead to confirm it. Our waiter was someone we immediately recognized from a previous visit, and my parents mentioned he had waited on us before at that same table. Somehow, from that comment alone, he became convinced we were related to Chef Tim Tillus. From there, things got bizarre. He kept talking about "Timmy," mentioning reunions and saying he used to live with him. The restaurant was extremely loud, and my father had forgotten his hearing aids that day, so honestly we could barely understand what he was talking about. We just smiled politely and focused on asking about the menu because we truly had no clue where the conversation was going. Eventually, he came back and realized we were NOT Chef Tim Tillus' family. He then explained that the kitchen staff had apparently been laughing because the chef saw us and said, "That's not my family." So somehow this became a whole ordeal in the kitchen over a completely innocent misunderstanding. We laughed awkwardly because what else do you do at that point? But honestly, the whole interaction felt strange and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the food was even worse than the awkward service. My spouse ordered the all-day seafood soup, and somehow there was basically ZERO seafood in it. That alone was shocking because their soups used to be incredible. My father ordered the broiled platter, and the portion size was honestly embarrassing for a $29 dish. His parsley potatoes consisted of literally five tiny cubes - my mother counted them because we were in disbelief. We have eaten here for years and NEVER saw portions this small. I ordered the fish special, and it was nothing like described. It was supposed to have pecans and blackening seasoning. There were no pecans, no blackening seasoning, and the fish itself was dry, bland, overcooked, and flavorless. For $32, I was served what looked like a tiny sad pile of fish in the middle of a giant empty plate. The pork chop looked beautiful but tasted absolutely awful. At this point I honestly don't know if the kitchen quality has completely collapsed or if nobody is checking food before it leaves the line anymore. Either way, it was terrible. My mother ordered scallops on the half shell as her meal - something she has enjoyed there many times before. This time, the scallops were tiny and somehow greasy. It was shocking these dishes were even leaving the kitchen. What makes this so disappointing is that we truly loved this restaurant. We weren't casual customers. We supported this place for years because we believed the food and experience were worth it. This wasn't just a mediocre meal or an "off night." This was a genuinely terrible dining experience from start to finish, made worse by the fact that it happened on Mother's Day. The service felt awkward and disorganized, the portions were insulting, the food quality was awful, and there seemed to be zero quality control happening anywhere. At this point, our money will be supporting other establishments instead. It's honestly sad because this place USED to be special. I sincerely hope management fixes the kitchen, consistency, and overall professionalism before even more longtime customers walk away.
