I'll have been in the haunt industry for 10 years coming this October, primarily as an actor, but over time I've become very experienced and I try to factor this in before entering a new haunt to keep my expectations low. However, I was still pretty disappointed. The set itself was above average, containing a variety of props and deeply detailed rooms, but they almost made it seem to be more than just a walk-thru haunted house by explaining a backstory, rules, and a few instructions to boost interaction. Only, it was just a walk-thru with buttons along the way that trigger any props relative to it's location. I was wondering how Ripley's would be able to time their actors and props, being that anybody can just walk in throughout the 12 hours being open, but I quickly realized that customers were supposed to activate the props via buttons and there were only 2 actors working, one of which was your guide. To top it all off, I was in the haunt for less than 10 minutes. Took my kids to Ripley's haunted adventure because they had not ever been to a haunted house and figured this would be mild for them. We were right! It was okay. It only lasted like 10minutes. I think that there were props that could have moved or something to add to the "scare" a little bit. $64 is too expensive for 10 minutes for a family of 4. read more

Ripley's Haunted Adventure on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach is a fun experience with a lot of cool items to check out and haunting to be a part of. The scariest part of this "adventure" is the anticipation that you're going to be scared. And the scare never comes. They only have maybe 2 people working inside the attraction. Waste of money. Only one person to scare you. I went to this 15 years ago and it was amazing. Took my family today and I was embarrassed that I had bragged about it. Love love love!! Here on vacation from Boston and let me tell you it's better than some of the attractions at home. There was so much jump scares it was so awesome. A little confusing waiting for tickets and waiting in line, but other than that it was super great! Definitely will go again if I ever come back to Myrtle beach! read more

Opened up over a hour late because the actors weren't there or ready to go. once we got in line they said we had to wait for more people. We had five. The house itself was OK at best. Actors were late for a reason. everything looked out of date. Don't waste your time. read more

The one actor was good but that was one of the only actors. Thought the house we could see areas where the actors were supposed to jump out but no one was there. We paid full price for a half assed haunted house. Do me a favor and save your money. There was not one single person in the haunt that jumped out to scare us. NOT ONE SINGLE ONE. You walk through empty rooms that have motion sensors to let out loud burst of air. That's it. Takes 10 minutes to walk through semi creepy rooms that are dark with nothing but "scary air" and if I wanted scary air I'd just fart, sit there and inhale. What a disappointment. I hate haunted houses and the whole idea of being scared. However, my fiancé loves all that kind if stuff so I agreed to go to this one as well as Outbreak, both in the Myrtle Beach area. I feel Outbreak was better and have reviewed them on Yelp! While waiting to enter the haunted house, an "actor" wasn't really in character. He was nice and talked to people in our group. I figured he'd act all creepy and really set up our experience but he didn't. Once we entered the first actor who set up the rules and whole story behind the haunted house was very good. The 3 floors scared everyone in the group. The scares and scenery were ok but nothing special or unique. I don't want to ruin anything, so I won't go into details. It's not a bad way to spend some time and it's probably more worth it to visit this attraction when you plan to combine the ticket price with the aquarium and other Ripley's attractions. read more

I highly recommend this place. It was nice seeing a haunted attraction that is open year round. Honestly most haunted things are only open during one time of the year, so to find one that is decently priced is great. And anyway saying it is too scary for children, it is. Stop taking your kids here, it just honestly ruins the experience for other people. The actors are actually very good. There was a group of ignorant teenagers trying to make them break character in front of us when we went, and they stayed in character. They were great, and very convincing. It was actually a bit longer then I expected it to be, and overall a good scare. I would recommend it to anyone down in the area. Also they offer a good military discount as well. read more

This was so fun and scary! Expect to scream every few seconds lol. The staff did an excellent job at scaring our group and creeping each one of us out while still being polite. From the makeup to the clothes, to the rooms, to the props! I lost my shoe while trying to get away from a goul, and he let me get it. Another girl in the group lost her phone. Some of the staff looked for it while we continued through the house. Once we were out, someone brought it to us. It was so much fun! Definitely recommend. The laser guns were a nice touch as well. We have several excellent haunted houses in KC but Ripley's has the $$ to make it very theatrical and intense! The BAD: Says for ages Six and up, naturally I assumed that is was in the edgier side of Ripley's oddities. Like Iron maidens, tombstones, a little more gore than the Believe it or not Museum. WRONG! NOT SAFE FOR KIDS! The VERY UGLY: My Six year old who LOVES scary movies and oddities was TERRIFIED! I had to keep my cool and rush us through through the to keep him from being more scared than he already was! Pretty sure he is going to need therapy for this. **and I almost wrote a letter of concern to the manager/company they need to raise the age to at least 13 (The experience IS that intense) read more

I do not recommend this. The price was okay but overall not worth it. The lady at the desk hyped it up saying it was super scary, warned us about getting chased, etc. Walked in with high expectations. Was told it was 3 floors but I'm reality it's only two. The first floor was only the elevator. There was two actors, one behind a chain frame and then one lady with a chainsaw. This was all within the first 20 seconds of walking in. After this you simply walked through. Only had flashing lights and sounds. Didn't last long and and we came out extremely disappointed. read more

This place was horrible. There was only one person in the maze to scare you and to make matter worse, the elevator wasn't operating properly. In my personal opinion, the scariest part was the guy taking pictures of his ice cream cones outside of the building while we waited. Don't waste your time or money. It was cool, I've seen these type of things before and while the props and all was excellent, perhaps, I could be wrong, they may have been a bit short of actors when I visited on the week of the 4th of July. The first floor had me going I was honestly surprised at how good it was but the second floor there was no actors and nothing happened... they said it would be about 15-20 to walk through and that definitely was not the case. This attraction was not worth the money it's a total rip off I was walking through 9 different empty rooms with an overuse of air cannons and strobe lights only on actor in the whole thing with a chain saw PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY !!!! I'm posting a 3 star because I do. Believe that the age needs to be for over 12. Not 6. It is pretty scary and very very dark. Another reason I posted only a 3 star is because the family in front of us had a child about 6 who was scared and the father was carrying him through. Near totally the end of the house they stopped and one of the caricatures creatures came out in his scary voice right in front of everybody and told the father holding the child to put him down he needed to walk himself. I thought that was obsurd especially when we were about a minute from the end of the house. No one said anything before and no signs are posted saying you are not able to carry your child. They should have told them in the beginning. Other than that pretty good haunted house for the money as long as you get the 30% off by going to two attractions. read more

This was a pretty cool haunted house! It was alot better (and scarier) than others I have experienced in the past. I would agree with previous reviewers in the fact that it is probably too scary for small children. There were a group of them crying behind us as we were walking through. They were terrified, but you can't turn around and go back once you are inside... for those of us who are old enough to appreciate it, it's a good time. read more

This was very exciting! It's so much more fun when you're with a group of people...the screaming from other patrons makes it a whole lot scarier than it really is. It's pitch black throughout, except for when one of the special effects decides to jump out at you then you may get a little dim light. Overall, I think it's worth the money...wasn't the best haunted house I've gone to but they still did an excellent job. I'd go again but not by myself ever! LOL read more
