Stopped on a road trip for an early dinner. First impression wasn't very good. Needed a bathroom…read moreand it wasn't very clean including sticky floors. Having never been I was a bit overwhelmed by all the choices and let my wife order for us while I found a table. The floors were sticky, the table was stick, and some moron was on their phone using speaker phone. My wife ordered two Philly Cheesesteaks making one a 'jumbo' to include onion rings, fries, and a drink. Service was friendly & helpful for us newcomers and the food was delivered quickly by the friendly staff. So as much as I was concerned about sticky floors and all that, the food really was delicious. The cheesesteaks seemed to be more bun than meat, but honestly it was a perfect balance of meat, cheese, grilled onion AND a PERFECTLY crispy AND soft bun. The sandwich truly was magnificent and really well balanced/proportioned. I thought the rings were a bit under cooked, but I was fooled again! Onion was soft, well cooked, and flavorful. Fried were definitely undercooked but I don't generally eat French fries so all good. Cole Slaw was middle of the road. I struggle with a rating but sticky floors, sticky table along with a few environmental things really drag down my overall perception. Friendly/competent staff and an excellent sandwich will hold a steady rating of three. Would I eat there again? It is on of the few unique non-chains in the area and I know what to expect going in. So if I need to stop on the area, I'd more than likely stop again thanks to staff and food!

They have rave reviews but I wasn't wowed yet. Food was decent and staff were friendly. I'm not…read moresure if we've had the best food they offer yet so I'll have to come back. Best thing we had was the buffalo chicken wrap. I'll update the review once we come back again. I'm gonna pass on the fries and onion rings next time though, they aren't with the extra $3. The restaurant feels like a diner but you order at the counter and bus your own tables. Pete's has so many items on the menu I'm sure we will find our favorites soon!

The wife and I were headed up I85 reading the road signs and getting past hungry. I know I…read moreshouldn't have, but my wife looked over and said, "Come on, let's give them the benefit of the doubt." So I pulled into the Cracker Barrel in Gaffney, South Carolina, already halfway prepared to be disappointed and planning my "I told you so" speech for the ride home. We were met at the door by a smiling host who sat us quicker than you can say "y'all come back now." Ann, our waitress, was at the table before I even had the menu open. She grabbed our water and coffee order and took off like she had somewhere to be, which, as it turned out, was right back at our table. We both ordered breakfast, because there are some things in life you don't overthink. Now, I dearly love country fried steak. Somewhere in the Good Book there's probably a footnote that says it's acceptable for breakfast, lunch, and supper. I was already feeling pretty good about my decision when Ann reappeared, unannounced, with a plate of hot biscuits and apple butter. No upcharge, no "would you like to add that for $3.99," just biscuits like God and Dan Evans intended. I have not had that happen in years. One bite of that apple butter and I was suddenly 20 years younger, back when Cracker Barrel was new and my cholesterol was lower and the world seemed a little less complicated. It tasted just like I remembered, which almost never happens anymore unless you're misremembering. The breakfast showed up just as I was savoring the last bite of that biscuit, and it was flat-out good. Everything was hot, everything was right, and everything was on time. No mystery substitutions, no cold eggs, no "we're out of that today." Maybe--just maybe--Cracker Barrel has remembered what made them famous in the first place: hot coffee, good food, and the kind of small kindness, like surprise biscuits and apple butter, that makes a road-weary traveler feel human again. On that morning in Gaffney, it felt like Cracker Barrel on a great day as it should be.

Over the years of dining here I've had my really good experiences and some bad ones too. The two…read morethings Cracker Barrel does consistently well are wonderful corn muffins and biscuits. No hit or miss here. My wife called in an order of one dozen corn muffins and I picked them up. I'm sensing pinto beans for dinner tonight! Thank You Cracker Barrel for having my to go order ready when I arrived. And another Thank You for your pleasant customer service!
