Always great portions from the Clock. Green beans and okra were spot on. Okra was perfectly fried and hot on the table. The chicken was a dry and I thought needed salt in the fry batter. Friday May 16, 2025. 6:15pm Horrible experience. Overly greasy chili cheeseburger with grease pooling on the plate. Slaw tasted old. The egg on the hand and egg sandwich was cooked very dark and grease came out of the egg onto hands. The lettuce had a chemical taste. Instant potatoes not good. The green beans had raw bacon in it. Not cooked crisp and had a tin can taste. And our waitress repeated our order back to us and had it wrong because she wasn't paying us any attention. No refill on drink for me and it sat on the side of the table for 18 minutes. Tall blond Waitress nowhere to be found. Husband gets up and gets me a refill and was questioned by a worker behind the counter when he got the refill himself. We quit eating and paid. Husband complained at register and owner John, had a hateful attitude. Did not offer to make things right. Prices have went up here by a lot and food quality has gone down. When was the last time you had a burger where you had to wash your hands after eating it? The Clock is that kind of place. As we were being seated, we saw the size of the plates and decided we better split our meal - we still had 300 miles to drive and didn't need to be uncomfortable doing it. We ordered the the Clock burger - 1/2 lb of dripping juicy goodness topped with American, crispy bacon, tons of grilled onions and the usual stuff. It was AMAZING! We also ordered a side of fries - while these crinkles filled up more than half of the platter, they really could have used a little more time in the frier. They were super fresh, burn your mouth hot but definitely undercooked. The meal was rounded out with a small cup of tasty, creamy slaw. I saw some onion rings pass by which looked awesome - that would probably have been a better choice, but then again, we were all about comfort today. Right by the door was a case of desserts, cheesecakes, pies and cakes, that looked equally amazing but even with splitting our meal, we were too stuffed to partake. I also saw a plate of fried chicken go by - the pieces were so large that I'd hate to have run into the chicken that they came from. I do need to comment on the restrooms, while pretty clean, both the men's and women's rooms needed quite a bit of love. The toilet paper holder fell off onto my lap while the paper towel dispenser was jammed. The men's room was more aesthetic in nature - the hubby said it was in dire need of some spackle and paint. Our server was pretty amazing also (amazing seems to be quite the theme here...). I have no idea how she balanced a tray of 8 large platters - I'm not making this up. If you are looking for some health food, while there were a few salads and a little grilled chicken on the menu, this is really not your place. We'll be heading back this way in a few weeks (new grandbaby, YAY!) and we will definitely make The Clock of Gaffney a stop along the way. read more

This restaurant is very popular in my small hometown of Gaffney, S.C. . They offer a pretty diverse menu. You can get a meat and three vegetables that are actually quite good! The burgers are also very tasty. At times when I'm craving a delicious hot dog plate I come here. The chili is unique and really wakes up those wieners! I usually get my orders to go. I've recently dined inside and the place is spotless and the service is excellent! I had a two chicken breast plate with three veggies and rolls. Clock of Gaffney never disappoints! There is a wide selection of foods, and they will work with you to prepare foods that are good sensitivities friendly. I always ask for my fish to be broiled, and my mom used to get her chicken parmigiana not breaded before she passed. They also allowed her to substitute a different side (like fries) for the spaghetti. The Greek foods are also a wonderful selection at this location. This place has a huge menu! I decided to get the fried chicken since it was on special for $9. I must say it was a ton of food for that price, but unfortunately the chicken was so overcooked and dry that I could barely swallow it and ended up only eating about half. We ordered our food Togo as there was no outdoor dining. There was nothing close to 6 ft of social distance. Okay, we're talking genuine olde skool diner here. Very good table service. If you're a vegetarian, though, you'll probably be sticking with the grilled cheese, as I did. It's a good, honest grilled cheese, although the 2 onion rings accompanying it were a bit disappointingly dried out. The fried green tomatoes have a very thin breading, which is nice - only $5. The chicken parm comes in a huge serving size, plus basically a double serving of pasta with a meat sauce on the side. You'll be finishing it tomorrow. Has its own parking lot. She was very friendly and attentive. My wife had the large Greek salad. It was fresh and tasty. The dressing tastes homemade. I had the chargrilled chicken sandwich with fries and coleslaw. The chicken was tender and juicy and it had a lot of flavor. The coleslaw was just as I like it. The fries are crinkle cut and were done just right. Highly recommend a stop here. I had heard really good things about the Clock and decided to use it for a catering event. I attempted to place the order about 3 weeks out but due to the size of my order I had to wait for a manager to reach out to me. That took a bit but they were very helpful when they got back with me. The day I was supposed to pick the order up I called a few hours in advance to see ii there were any final details that needed to be hammered out and was informed that the manager was out of the office and no one knew anything about my order. I went through it again with the staff there and was told that they could have it ready but it would be three or four hours after my original pickup time which just wasn't doable for an already planned meal. I will give them credit, they must have rushed and worked a miracle, getting us our food on time, but if I hadn't called I fear what might have happened. The food was good. Found this place almost by accident when we stopped for gas across the street. The waitstaff was wonderful- paragons of the hospitality for which South Carolina is famous. Greek food appears to be a specialty. Darling Bride ordered a chicken souvlaki platter, which came with a tossed salad. The Boy ordered a gyros platter, also with salad. I got the chicken fried steak plate, and went the extra to substitute the hand-breaded onion rings. They were amazing when hot, which was not for long. The salads (I got my son's, because Heaven forbid he eat a vegetable once in his life) were fresh, crisp, and came with the dressing on the side. The coffee was good. His drink was whatever hideous yellow soda they had on tap. The strips of lamb in the gyro were melt-in-your mouth tender. He asked if we can reroute our return trip so we can eat here again. The green peppers on my Bride's platter were perfectly al dente, the chicken was "omigawd" flavourful and tender as a lover's kiss. The least spectacular entree on the table was my chicken fried steak, which was still quite good, but suffered in comparison to the other dishes. And I wouldn't get the cole slaw again. Not a big fan of minced slaw or sweet slaw, so sweet, minced slaw is right out. And the rolls came straight out of a bag, and evidently cost extra, so skip them and eat the onion rings. While eating, my family discovered that their mountains of fries concealed further portions of lamb and chicken, and dug them out as assiduously as though they were mining gold. We made ourselves save a little room for dessert because we passed the carousel of cakes on the way in. Homemade fresh daily? Yes, please! Sweetie and I split a delightfully vanilla piece of toasted coconut cake, while our progeny manfully ploughed through a spectacular chocolate cheesecake. We arrived around 11:30 in the morning. By 12, the place was approaching standing room only. Service remained excellent despite the suddenly huge workload. The total for this sumptuous repast? $61.62 including tax and a little more than 20% tip. read more

OMG!!!! People, you have to try this place. It was so worth the 45 minute drive I took to get here. I'm currently eating right now. I've never written a review and eat at the same time. Went to site today with wife lunch, we have been coming for years 3 to 4 times a month. Upon going in there is a Note on door that they will be adding a I believe 2.75 % charge if you pay with credit or debt card. This is stupid. Their prices are already double from a couple of years ago and they have been taking cards for ever, so they have had that cost built into ALL orders. Even cash payers now they want to charge on top of it. Well, I am spreading this on all social media. And will not return there. If I could give this place a zero I would. I can without a doubt say this was the worst food I've ever tried to eat. Ordered a shrimp basket and what came out wasn't even edible. It looked like frozen Seapak shrimp but tasted even worse. I literally couldn't eat it. Ranch dressing was warm (disgusting). My husband got a burger that was edible but not good. Server was friendly and that's the only good thing I could say about this place. Saving the best for last... We saw a baby roach at our table and when we were leaving I looked back in the kitchen and literally felt sick at what I saw. The food at this location is not edible. Four of us ordered and none us had food that we could eat. Super dry fried chicken. The burger patty in the cheese burger looked like shoe leather on one side and gray mush on the other. I ordered the gyro platter. The salad tasted like cleaner solution and at that point we were done. Objectively, it was fatty, thin, and, leaned more towards rare than my requested medium rare. But who am I to complain? The sides were, again, fine. Stopped here on Sunday mostly because so much in the area was closed. It was really busy but the wait time wasn't to long for s table. The hostess was very professional and courteous. Some of the other people in the restaurant were pretty rude. Well they have a large menu with plenty of choices. I had the marinated chicken. It had good flavor but was dry and the green beans were obviously dirty from a can. I may need to try something different next time. Our server Jess was great. She was quick, efficient, and was on point with service even though she was overwhelmed with large groups at her other table. She did a great job keeping up with drink refills and checking up on us.
