I'm ready to believe them as this is the fifth one I've tried. The atmosphere is a cafe sort of vibe, nothing special. we order 3 margaritas and 3 entrees for $120 before a tip. I would like to experience a restaurant that has a nice ambiance and good food without costing an arm and a leg. The food is OK. I will not be returning to this chain. The servers were nice. 3.5 for them if I could.

Rio Sol in La Pine absolutely blew us away. From drinks to dinner, everything was outstanding. We started with drinks -- the margarita was killer, perfectly balanced and refreshing, and the El Jefe had the ideal mix of sweetness with just enough kick. Definitely cocktails worth coming back for. For appetizers, we ordered the house-made guacamole and chips. Hands down the best guac I've had in years -- fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. The chips were warm, crisp, and seasoned with Tajín, which was a genius twist I haven't seen often and instantly loved. For mains, the Chicken Mole was simply fantabulous. The mole sauce was rich, earthy, and complex -- easily the best mole I've had anywhere. The Birria tacos were also stellar, with tender meat and a consommé that puts this dish in my top 3 (maybe even top 1, but that's a hard call!). Even the sides impressed -- the pinto beans were seasoned (not bland like so many places), the pico de gallo had just the right kick, and the verde rice rounded everything out beautifully. Honestly, these sides beat what I've had at most Latin restaurants. The service at Rio Sol was just as impressive as the food and drinks. Our server was sweet, kind, and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. What really stood out was their attentiveness -- at the last second, they moved us to a better table closer to the river, which made the evening feel extra special. Thoughtful touches like that show how much they care about their guests' experience. The rice was OK, but honestly I've never been a fan of Yucatán style rice, but the beans were not my favorite. For refried beans, they really did lack flavor and I felt like they were trying to make them taste better by the extra cheese they added to them. Of course the guacamole and the pico de gallo were perfect. All in all, this is a pretty good place. Again, it's just probably not what most people are used to when they think of Mexican food.
