Squirrel nuts beer - A round Rio Bravo coaster, a tall glass of dark beer, and a menu are placed on a dark, textured table surface.

While this brewery is pretty far for me, when I get there, they never disappoint and i love that my favorite beer is a standard and always available. Squirrel nuts. It was taco Tuesday and I had the fried avocado and steak options and they were very good and the salsa was flavorful but not spicy. Service is always great! And there's lots of places to sit in and out and it has a great visual atmosphere.

Location is downtown so the homeless are outside. It took a while to get noticed but thats okkkkk. The rio bravo mexican lager is yummmm. Ordered a couple. My husband got the pulled pork sliders, hes a lightweight so he said sauce was spicy. But the vibe is good, staff are cool.

Rio Bravo Brewing Company was one of our final stops on our New Mexico brewery tour, and they truly left an impression. It was early morning back in October 2024, and we had the pleasure of chatting with the manager and owner--what a great way to kick off the day! We even shared stories about our "Beer Church" in Taylor, TX, and they sent us on our way with a crowler that our whole group absolutely loved. Not only did we get a warm welcome and insider recommendations (they tipped us off about Quarter Celtic, another hit on our tour), but the facility itself was immaculate with plenty of seating and outdoor covered seating, making our early breakfast visit that much more enjoyable. The beer was delicious--a perfect start to the day--and we couldn't help but wish we had more time to hang around. If you're ever in Albuquerque, definitely stop by Rio Bravo Brewing Company. They truly stand out as stellar beer people, and we look forward to returning on a future visit!

Two glasses of beer, one large and one small, are placed on a bar counter inside a brewery or pub with string lights and industrial decor.

This is my ABQ Beer Passport review for Rio Bravo. Nice large taproom. Private parking. No kids! There were some pinball machines in a second seating area. Nice shaded patio but picnic tables only with benches for seating (gets uncomfortable after a while). Several tvs with baseball games and other sports on. While I don't visit a brewery to watch shit on tv, one of the screens had the NHL channel on that caught my eye occasionally. My friend was keeping up with the Cubs game on another screen as well. It was cool until some schmo came from the back, changed the NHL channel to some idiot talking about the NFL and then left. No consideration for customers! The same can be said for the 2 ladies covering the bar. Regulars got the royal treatment but us first timers had to stand on our heads to get another beer. Mind you, there was 3 other patrons when I got there at 1:15 pm, and maybe a dozen when I left at 3:45. They sell cans to go of maybe half their beers and they do sell growlers. I got a growler of their Psychedelic Decade brown ale which I enjoyed, but my growler cost me $18, pretty high compared to other breweries. I tried their Oktoberfest, which seemed more bitter than their 21ibu rating, but was good. I also tried the Squirrel Nut and Honey Ginger ales to only ask wtf prompts brewers to experiment like this. I can tell the owners had a vision of great local beer but misses the mark with crap service. Food looked like standard pub grub. Since I'm obviously not a regular, I will pass on returning. The beer was decent, but the service wasn't welcoming enough to draw me back over some of the neighboring breweries.

4oz fish and chips? - A serving of fried fish and French fries with side dishes of coleslaw and tartar sauce on a checkered paper tray at a restaurant.

Ordered fish and chips, and paid $17 for one "4oz" price of questionable quality fish, slaw and fries. The waitress was kind though, the star is for her...

I'm not much of a consumer of adult beverages. But since a group of friends were headed here I figured why not. I got there later than the rest So I only had time for a beer. Their menu had a plethora of local micro brews - making the selection difficult. I settled in an the peach tea ale. It was delicious. The food - don't know, I'll just have to go back another time and try it.

I came here twice on my recent trip to Albuquerque. There is an ample amount of parking. Everything is self-seating and there are plenty of them. The servers are not linked to specific tables. Any server will ask for your order which also means you can place your order with any one of them. They are always walking around asking how you're doing. The food is pretty good. My fiance and I had wings, a brisket sandwich, and a crab cake sandwich. The serving size is chef's kiss. And so are the fries. I read another review and I will agree that the year-round beers are great, while the seasonal ones are hit or misses.

A bar interior features a large counter with bar stools, a TV screen, and a green wall with "LIVE BOLD" illuminated sign, with patrons and staff present.

What really stood out about my most recent visit to Rio Bravo was the service. Holy smoke it was good! Now, the beer, food, and atmosphere were all well and good. But at every juncture I felt that we were taken care of exquisitely well by darn near everyone in the establishment. It seemed like prevailing philosophy amongst the staff was that "everyone is in your section." Over the course of our stay were helped or checked in on by at least 4 different servers. All were friendly, kind and knowledgeable. And again, everything else was great, but the service is really where they made their mark and it is the reason I'll be returning. I strongly recommend swinging by for a pint and bite to eat.

The food is fine but the beer, what should be the foundation of this place, is just okay. Maybe stop brewing 20 kinds and make 5 good ones.

Sadly, we found kind of a mixed bag. First, the standout items. The margaritas were fantastic; some of the best we've had in the USA and extremely generous. The pinto bean sides were some of the best we've had since returning to the States in 2013. Perhaps not quite as great as those of the shuttered El Cotorro but still stellar. Next, the tacos. We tried only two of the several tacos on offer - The El Pastor and the Pescado. Both were served in what was called "corn tortillas" but these differed from virtually any corn tortillas we've ever had in Mexico or elsewhere. They were at least twice as thick as your typical corn tortilla found in just about all Mexican taco places in Mexico and elsewhere. The consistency and taste were quite different from your normal corn tortilla also. In fact, they really didn't seem to have much taste at all, of corn or anything else. Now to the fillings. At the aforementioned El Cotorro, the meat for the Al Pastor tacos was cooked on a vertical rotating spit which was the only way we ever saw it cooked in Mexico. The meat La Reforma used in their al pastor tacos was more chunky and way drier than any we ever had in Mexico or at El Cotorro. It didn't taste similar to any al pastor tacos were ever had in Mexico. It also kind of seemed like it wasn't cooked recently whereas in Mexico you can watch the cook with a large knife carve off the meat from the vertical spit right in front of you. Usually the time between the carving and it sitting in front of you is under 10 seconds. The fish taco at La Reforma was disappointing. The fish resembled a fish stick but one without much flavor. We wouldn't order it again. We gave the mini-churros a try for dessert. Because they were so small, they were way crispier than your typical regular-sized churro. We might return but we'd skip the al pastor and the fish tacos and try some of the other tacos. But we strongly suggest that they dump their current "corn tortillas" because they're not that good. Way too thick and virtually tasteless. Lo siento. Kudos for the margaritas and the beans. The rest of what we tried didn't live up to the recent glowing review in the ABQ Journal.

From the moment we arrived, the service and ambiance were warm, welcoming, and where we wanted to be! Large and open, Bow and Arrow is spacious for folks to come for pint, small groups, as well as large groups and company events. We sat at the bar for more face-to-face service and had a great experience. We each got a flight and loved the ability to try four different beverages each since the menu is so extensive, creative, and delicious! I got the "Dos Arrows," "Wildly No. 1," "Bury My Heart," and "Lav Letters to the SW." I listed them in order of my favorites. Each beverage was complex, unique, and delicious! I would have enjoyed a full pint of each drink! Alas, 4 5oz beverages was enough! Prices are reasonable for such high quality beverages! We also loved that the brewery recognizes Indigenous land rights and supports Native American initiatives. Euro-Americans have much to learn from Native peoples, the original stewards of this land. But first, relationships, listening, and reparations are needed! We loved Bow and Arrow Brewing. We look forward to visiting again next time we are in town!
