We also had to wait to be checked out while they socialized. I wouldn't normally care about that, but when you add it all up, just not a good experience. It's a bummer because it's a cute store with a really great curation of books and other things. But really Marfa is a bummer in general.

After he binge watched Longmire and two days on a road trip in Texas - I can see the interest brewing. We originally tried buying a nice hat in Marfa. Every boutique told us to head back to Alpine to visit this store. Every single one. Marfa friends you were all correct to send us to BBS. This family owned business has an incredible selection of hats and leather goods. The owners were kind to let us explore the on-site workshop! Major props and gratitude to Ms Molly. She was so kind and patient to help my dad and I select our hats. She then steamed and shaped them to fit our heads perfectly. This was an incredibly fun, welcoming, and interesting visit. Great service + quality goods + cool ambience = no wonder they attract an international following.

They also had jewelry, chocolates and small leather goods, including adorable made in Mexico leather and hand painted key chains in the shapes of hearts and guitars. Ballroom Marfa was closed due to the virus and last time I went they were out of Prada Marfa prints but The Marfa Store had Prada Marfa stickers and postcards! Very friendly service. One of the store owners manages the JackHop app which tells you what is open during these weird times.

You might find Mexican style blankets, designer kitchenware painted in unique colors, gift items, cards, books, etc. My understanding from the retailer working the store is that this is considered the official gift store for the Gage Hotel. Connects by door to the V6 breakfast bar and coffee shop next door so you can pass from one to the other without leaving either store. Interestingly, more evidence the Gage has pretty much taken over the entire block except for a couple of businesses, one which includes a regional bank a few doors down.
