We also had to wait to be checked out while they socialized. I wouldn't normally care about that, but when you add it all up, just not a good experience. It's a bummer because it's a cute store with a really great curation of books and other things. But really Marfa is a bummer in general.

The outside had a bit of a western feel to it. On the inside, it was much larger than we anticipated with kid's toys, candy, and books to the right scattered with a variety of other merchandise like knicks knacks, magnets, stickers, cards, postcards, hats, collector's items, and more. When we entered to the other side past the register, however, much more sophisticated gifts in the form of women's fine jewelry, handmade soaps, purses, and women's clothing was nicely displayed. The lady at the register was nice enough, but she seemed to not care so much for kids. I purchased this t-shirt I have yet to wear because it has been so cold lately. It has Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Billy Gibbons and reads "Texas Rockmore" below a Mount Rushmore-inspired photo of the four of them. We were never felt like we were loitering, needed to hurry up and buy something, or too loud. Really laidback. So we loitered, visited, and shopped. Came away with a few cool things that of course we didn't need, but we wanted and would bring joy. Easy to make your way through the store, there's lots of items that promote the history, archeology, geology, astrology etc of the local (50 mile circumfrance+/-) area that would provide good background reading, watching, use.

After he binge watched Longmire and two days on a road trip in Texas - I can see the interest brewing. We originally tried buying a nice hat in Marfa. Every boutique told us to head back to Alpine to visit this store. Every single one. Marfa friends you were all correct to send us to BBS. This family owned business has an incredible selection of hats and leather goods. The owners were kind to let us explore the on-site workshop! Major props and gratitude to Ms Molly. She was so kind and patient to help my dad and I select our hats. She then steamed and shaped them to fit our heads perfectly. This was an incredibly fun, welcoming, and interesting visit. Walked in and was greeted by Ashley herself, and her sweetie pie dog George Michael who welcomed me personally. The store is a great size with a lot of product. Clothing and the accessories are color coordinated. The store feels very in tune with Marfa itself, in a way that you can explore hidden corners like an art gallery. After exploring Ashley had a nice conversation with us, and told us she makes everything in house! Amazing! It's really close to the ballroom art gallery another plus! The wonderful thing about shopping around in Marfa is there isn't a pressure to buy anything like you feel when shopping in big cities. Everyone is happy to give you some background history of their brand, because they genuinely love what they do.
