The outside had a bit of a western feel to it. On the inside, it was much larger than we anticipated with kid's toys, candy, and books to the right scattered with a variety of other merchandise like knicks knacks, magnets, stickers, cards, postcards, hats, collector's items, and more. When we entered to the other side past the register, however, much more sophisticated gifts in the form of women's fine jewelry, handmade soaps, purses, and women's clothing was nicely displayed. The lady at the register was nice enough, but she seemed to not care so much for kids. I purchased this t-shirt I have yet to wear because it has been so cold lately. It has Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Billy Gibbons and reads "Texas Rockmore" below a Mount Rushmore-inspired photo of the four of them. We were never felt like we were loitering, needed to hurry up and buy something, or too loud. Really laidback. So we loitered, visited, and shopped. Came away with a few cool things that of course we didn't need, but we wanted and would bring joy. Easy to make your way through the store, there's lots of items that promote the history, archeology, geology, astrology etc of the local (50 mile circumfrance+/-) area that would provide good background reading, watching, use.

As you enter the gallery your senses are immediately overtaken by how much amazing cool stuff is literally everywhere. My 7yr old daughter exclaimed "wow mommy this place is so awesome!" the moment we set foot inside. Although she's been in before, the store is ever changing with decor and goodies everywhere. There are paintings, sculpture and photographs- all originals - throughout the store. Fun jewelry, beautiful clothing and gift items galore are in every nook and cranny. I highly recommend walking in and going straight back, down the hall to start. And then work your way forward again as you look at both sides of the walls. It's like art, color and vibrance jump off the walls at each turn. They have custom framing available and although I didn't get any done, my friend who lives in Alpine swears they are the best (compared to Dallas, TX for pricing and quality). I was delighted to see original paintings from an artist we saw in a friend's home. My daughter chose 3 paintings as a gift for her dad (Fathers Day was upon us) very reasonably priced at $85 each. I didn't want them sitting in my truck as I ran more errands so Kelly offered to package them for us to pick up the next day on our way out of town. During past trips to Alpine, and Kiowa Art Gallery, I have purchased tunic tops, earrings and hand-blown glass ornaments. This is one of our favorite places and we love popping in when we visit Alpine!

Now we can find their gift shop treasures in town. Lots of really lovely alpaca products, along with local Bee Wranch honey and other gifts for critter lovers. He was very quiet, not welcoming at all, had dark painted fingernails, chunky rings on and sat behind the counter without even looking up. I was actually looking for an art store but couldn't find it and he didn't know where it was just that they moved a few times. After a few purchases in DQ we left the town to continue our road trip.
