Rincon Mexicano offers good vegan tacos, fresh food and friendly vibes. Pro-tip: Rincon Mexicano is different than Taqueria El Rincon, a couple hundred feet away. Taqueria El Rincon is in the same building as an Aldi and has no vegan options; Rincon Mexicano is in a free-standing stripmall. It's confusing on Google Maps. The veggie chorizo tacos ($3.25 each) are vegan by default and excellent, which nicely-seasoned chorizo. Take a pass on the similar, but different, veggie chorizo with potato tacos ($3.25) which are blander due to the potatoes neutralizing the seasoning. The soy meat tacos ($3.25) are excellent with great texture and seasoning. We also liked the french fries ($2.75), which I can never pass up. Lastly, the pico de gallo with chips ($4) feature superb homemade chips and fresh pico. You can't go wrong. Quick ordering from a hole in the wall. Take out or eat there. I love their verde (green) sauce. Just the right degree of spiciness for a gringo. I even ordered a quart made fresh to take home. Make a tortilla and dip it in the sauce or simply pour it on the rice, beans and steak. The numerous slices of thinly sliced steak was amazingly seasoned. At some places the steak can be tough. Ohmigod. I am SO glad this place is here. I went to my park-n-fly hotel in the middle of generic corporate chain nowhere, and the restaurant options were dismal. Then there were these reviews on Yelp ... It is so out of the way. It is at the corner of a hidden sub-sub section of a barely perceptible strip mall. But bright and welcoming. And WOW when you walk in the door is it fragrant. You can't help start salivating - - roasted corn, a waft of garlic, searing of meats - - this place smells FANTASTIC. A lot of take out business, but I sat down and asked to see the menu. The gentleman said they are out of menus, but have pictures - - and the pictures are a Who's Who of yummy options from the $2 tamale to the bistec combo plates. I am a fan of sopes, so asked for the sope plate with pastor and carne asada. It is clearly his wife who brought it out, and she is virtually running to keep up with the pace of things, but with a sweet, warm smile and a bit of a giggle, nonstop. It came pretty fast, and was immensely satisfying. The red salsa is hot, the green more tame, and slathering them over the sopes till the whole dish was awash and aflame with flavor made for a great, great meal, for under $8. Why not 5*? Because I've had somewhat more fragrant sope shells, more tender meat, more aromatic salsas (and I take "as good as it gets" seriously) - - but the the flavors, the satisfaction, made the visit totally worthwhile. And the restaurant experience here is so genuine, so alive, so vivid, that it makes the rest of corporate chain hell out in these parts seem like a mortuary. read more

Just had their shredded chicken tacos and Barbacoa tacos and it is by far the best Mexican food I've had in MInnesota.. tasted just as good as the places back in San Diego. Well well well, hidden gem here. I must say I was surprised about this place. So I'm looking online for a co worker and I to get some good tacos for taco Tuesday and came across this place on yelp. Read the reviews, saw they had $1 tacos, was sold instantly. Not only is this place cheap, the tacos are really damn good. And the salsas that they give you to put in the tacos, awesome. The green is my favorite, so much flavor. The only hiccup, the tacos were small, so I needed to eat 6 to fill me up. Your paying $1, remember that. And they do $1 tacos on Friday too. I would love to check out their dinner menu sometime. Super small place, I believe there was 4 booths and that's it. So don't "expect", to dine in. Because those 4 booths go quick. Ordered Enchiladas plater, Chile Relleno plater and a tamales. First off pretty over priced for a hole in the wall. The Chile Relleno plater was bland, the Chile somewhat rubbery and the chz inside was not melted like it's supposed to be. We also got the last tamales - which in my opinion they shouldn't have sold - we took one bit and threw it out since it seems stale. I would NOT recommend this place and will NOT be going back. Had the Enchilada verde, it is standard Mexican American enchilada fare. Good. There was some dad TV on monitor, if you want a bit of entertainment while you eat by yourself. Friendly Mexican restaurant hidden behind Ace Hardware store. I got Menudo. My Menudo had a little spicy hint, not greasy or food colored, plus fresh cilantro and amazing flour tortillas!! My beef and barbacoa tacos are also very tasty, wish they have more taco options though, especially fried tripes. read more

Great Mexican food. Authentic. Fresh. And a diverse menu. I have been once and I had the Pastor and Azada tacos. The meat was moist and flavorful. And the rice was well made. this place is down a steep hill, and right next to aldis on the left side. it's a little hard to spot from the main road but still easily accessible. the outside is filled with deals and offers throughout the week. the inside is really neat, and they have mexican soap operas playing for the most part. The owner is the sweetest man i have ever met! very joyful, and willing to help out with any questions you have. i went on taco tuesdays when they claimed to have $1 tacos, they do have $1 tacos only on tuesdays but only for a few meats not all. I ordered the tinga chicken, and it was really good but i wasn't really a fan of it. there wasn't anything lacking to it but it just wasn't satisfying. he also gave a chili sauce to go with but that somehow worsened the taste. the quantity was also really small, i understand it was a $1, but not worth it. this place has a really big menu and a lot of mexican snacks to go as well, didn't get a chance to sample any of them-but will get around to it next time! they also have seasoned mexican corn on the cob (elote) and it was around $3, so not bad, will try them the next time im there! definitely worth a visit and really authentic food! read more

Went on a Tuesday for "Taco Tuesdays" and had 4 carne asada tacos with chips/salsa. Well worth the money. For a local place near my house, I really enjoyed their food and prices. It's kind of in the corner of a very small strip mall, so it was kind of hard to notice. This is what we got: Steak Burrito: It was smaller than Chipotle (as I really like Chipotle and I've compared everyone else's burrito's to theirs now) but it did come with some unique fillings. The steak was pretty tasteful and as it was a little smaller, it didn't make me feel super full after eating it. I'd give the burrito a 3/5. (I know, Chipotle isn't probably authentic or what not, but I Like it so :p) 3 Tacos: This is where I feel for them... yup... 3 tacos... each with a variety of choices of meat: steak, chicken, and pork (marinated or roasted), there was another one or two I believe, but we went with steak, chicken, and roasted pork. The tacos were very basic, just the meat, diced onions, and cilantro, and a lime on the side. The Roasted pork was awesome! The pork was dry, but the onion, cilantro, and lime helped compliment it in your mouth. The chicken was kind of dry and tasteless, very plain, nothing to rave about. The steak was a little better and easier to eat. If I go next time, I'm just going to get 3 roasted pork tacos, MMmmmmmmMMM. I'd rate the chicken taco 2/5, steak taco 3/5, and roasted pork taco 5/5! Inside the restaurant, there's about 3 tables, so seating is limited, but there are some pictures of the food they provide (not a lot, but they are working on it, as a sign says) It's not very up to date yet, but I'm sure it's a working progress once they figure out the traffic flow in their restaurant. Overall, they have just opened up (I think?) but when we arrived (around 6pm) they were quite busy already. I'll probably go back tomorrow after work, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day! Since the prices were pretty reasonable, I'd say give it a shot and see what you think. read more

Ordered Asada tacos, chicken tacos, and chicken enchiladas. They were out of Al Pastor :(. Tacos were authentic Mexican style, but nothing special. They got the corn tortillas right, but that was the only thing right about the tacos. The chicken was pasty white, dry, and flavorless, so flavorless that if I didn't see it, I would have never known it was there. The asada was not much better. It was dripping with grease and overcooked. The enchiladas would have been decent if the chicken had any flavor. Rice and beans came with the enchiladas. The rice was VERY oily, and the beans were just doctored up canned refried beans. The food definitely needs some work. I may go back just to see if maybe I caught them on a bad day, and to see how their Al Pastor is. read more

This is the best place to get tacos don't listen to Troy G his tacos are the ones they give for a dollar guys! Don't expect too much from a dollar taco been going there since last year and nothing has change expect they made the place a bit more bigger and added more tables. Also there's another restaurant on the side of Aldi that stoled part of their name Rincon Mexicano has almost been open for four years while the other shop opened no later than 6 months I recommend the enchiladas:) read more
