No pre-teen gets excited about the prospect of having metal in their mouth for years, but Dr. Suffield diffused all my pre-teen angst with his cheery, positive attitude and bright smile. He was kind, caring, and always had funny jokes to tell me as he was tightening my wires--which turned what otherwise would have been an insufferable ordeal into a really pleasant experience. I cannot thank him enough for being such a wonderful orthodontist and friend to me for the 2.5 years it took to straighten my teeth. Being under his care made all of the difference for me: it helped me stay positive about the whole situation, and also helped me adhere to his guidelines and wear my retainers after my braces were taken off. Now, many years later, I'm about to graduate law school and I feel confident inside and out. Appearance isn't everything in life, but having straight teeth surely helps one feel more beautiful. No privacy at all, loud, unsettling. The staff seems distracted as well, because of all the commotion. There definitely seems to be a push to rush through everything as fast as possible. In addition, they really don't stand by their most basic work. If you have an appliance detach because of glue failure (poor work?), they will only re-glue it for free if it's within 30 hours of your appointment. Otherwise it's $110 to fix (for a 15-minute appointment!).

Now, after having both phases and being told we will likely need at least one more phase - went to another ortho for second opinion. Just saw second ortho, and saw the x-ray showing tooth coming in sideways and basically cutting the roots of neighboring tooth, it certainly appears that all the work that was done in the first 2 phases was simply a cash grab. So much for pulling teeth to "make room" - he has all the room in the world, and yet no monitoring along the way to confirm and verify what was done is actually working! All throughout the process they were very impersonal, like a cattle call and you were in the way of them seeing the next patient. The only real discussion that ever took place was in regard to the "plan" and cost information. I would recommend looking elsewhere and be weary of dentist referrals to only one orthodontist.
