I chose Dr. Franz because at the time he had a five star rating on yelp and was covered by my Humana insurance. I appreciated that there were pictures on his website which allowed me to see that the entrance is very handicapped friendly, as this is a must for me. The doctor himself seemed very competent and friendly. After my cleaning I was not asked for money upfront. That might be because the person who usually takes payments was not there. I was shocked when I got the bill and discovered that it was over $300 AFTER Humana had paid their portion. For just a cleaning and bite wing x-rays?! But, OK, I don't generally have a lot of problems with my teeth, so I was just planning on asking to go in less often - every nine months instead of six for cleanings. Recently I was having some pain (not sure if it's sinusitis or tooth problem) so I called the office to attempt to get an appointment. I called three times a day for two days straight and only to discover that apparently they are not answering the phone anymore. I'd get a recording asking me to leave a message and they would call me back. I did that. Never got a call back. This doesn't seem like a very efficient or caring way to run a business. When I started searching for another dentist I discovered that I cannot use my Humana Insurance there anymore. Altogether not a great experience! read more

** DOUBLE CHECK HE'S STILL IN-NETWORK BEFORE EVERY VISIT!! Or risk hundreds of dollars in billing ** The office setting isn't the whole picture. Is the office nice? Yes. The front office staff, can be a bit argumentative - especially when told something seemed off (like the billing). Like many people, I have dental insurance. Incredibly good dental insurance. In 2021, when I started seeing Dr. Franz, he was in-network as verified by my insurance and his office, and was to be paid at 100% for preventative care. This office insists on billing medical insurance first, then my dental insurance after that which is odd, but okay. Come to find out nearly 3 years later, they've had billing problems BACK TO 2021 and never said anything. They weren't paid at 100% in 2021 as they should have been. But instead of calling me to inquire, they just let it sit. And sit. And sit. FOR YEARS. Then, after my cleaning today I was presented with a $600+ bill and told they would "only charge me $28 today." Then, the receptionist (Taryn) tried to charge my credit card for the full $600+ amount. Seriously?! I informed her that when I bought the dental insurance policy (in July 2021), I was told all preventative care is paid at 100% for in-network providers. Taryn said that Dr. Franz is still in-network but my insurance doesn't pay 100%. I got in the car and called the insurance company - guess what? In-network is paid at 100%, as I'd told the office. The thing is, without any notice, Dr. Franz's office dropped my dental insurer and became "out of network" in January 2022. When I called back and talked to Taryn about what the insurance said, her response was "well, I'm sure we sent you an email." No, they didn't. Needless to say I had her cancel my next 6mo appointment there and then. Like any profession, dentists and doctors have a duty to uphold a reasonable standard of business - and that's not it. If you choose this office, I'd double check that he's still in-network no less than 2 weeks right before your appointment. read more

Dr. Franz and his staff are amazing! From the front of the office to the dentist himself, I would highly recommend making him your choice! I have extremely sensitive teeth and a couple areas of gum recession (eek!). His dental hygienist, Kelley was fantastic! She asked me how I was doing throughout the cleaning and was gentle and respectful when I told her about my fears. Dr. Franz came in afterward and gave me an extensive explanation about what was going on with my teeth and if I had any additional questions or concerns. The office was busy, but never at any time did I feel like I was rushed. I really appreciate the wholistic care and treatment from when you first book the appointment to being seen. Rarely do I seek out ways to leave reviews but I had to do it for Dr. Franz. From the beginning, Dr. Franz and his office were extremely accommodating to get me in when I had an acute problem (even over lunch) for a consultation. He and his staff took plenty of time to discuss what was going on and fully explained the treatment options. He was very open with these option and even with costs. He even recommended waiting for an upcoming insurance change for some needed minor work as it would save me money. During my procedure, he and his staff were attentive to any needs I had and checked frequently to make sure I wasn't having discomfort (I didn't have any pain, he does a great block). He also explained each step along the way. No one 'loves' going to the dentist, but my experience with Dr. Franz and his office have been the best I have had with any dentist. I feel comfortable returning to him or referring my family to him in the future. read more

My wife and I have been visiting Dr. Franz since he opened his office in the Kenwood area. We enjoying visiting him and his staff every time we visit. Definitely makes going to the dentist anything but a chore. I have had a few dentist throughout my life that have done numerous procedures on me. I started seeing Dr. franz about a year ago. Service great everyone seem nice. Had a little over $3000 worked done. It was fine. Alittle high on the cleaning and the x-rays than normal but the rest was in line I have a husband with extreme dental phobia and I've been trying to go get him to go and told him that I thought he would like Dr. franz. He's been recommended by my cousin but it's always a problem when somebody recommends a Dentist that has perfect teeth they don't really know what goes on in the dental office if they never have a problem so Monday, December 11 at 8 AM I called the receptionist when they open and told him my husband was in extreme horrible pain almost throwing up. He said was so bad if they could just give them a look and queeze him in. They said they couldn't get him in till Thursday, now I will say in the past a good dentist will get the patient comfortable on some antibiotics and pain meds or whatever and then see him a week or so later because you shouldn't be working on the infected tooth anyway. So she said she would call me back the receptionist later in the morning. I'm not sure if she said later in the morning but that day to see if she could get him in So at 10 I called back to see what was happening. She seemed irritated. She said she would call me when she talk to the dentist. I thought maybe they would call at noon and everything will be fine. Well they didn't. They left us dangling to three , after 3 PM and told us they couldn't get us into Wednesday. I ask her if it' would had been the same with me in extreme since I was a former patient. she said yes! So about an hour later I left a message saying that I was leaving a review of what I thought of today's shenanigans. She called me back and left a message and said oh it was because of the paperwork he had to wait that long and they were really sorry but there's nothing more they could've done and they understood my frustration . so now she's a liar because she told me it would've made any difference if I've been me who was a patient and frankly I think my husband should be included, but that doesn't matter, this office lacks real compassion and really worse! to be left all day wsiting! then who's going to do that wait three days holy gosh so I told her I will never be a customer of that office again ! And would have a really interesting discussion across the dining table in a couple weeks with my cousins who recommended him... I have a feeling they'll be canceling too good luck everybody out there. It's hard finding a good dentist. Mine retired 10 years ago and I've been trying to find a good one sense but there are a lot of them out there almost as many dentists out there as veterinarians. Good luck.!!! read more

I cannot speak more highly of Dr Franz and the entire staff. I am always greeted with the kindest welcome, and never have to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen, rarely even that. A few weeks ago I visited with jaw pain, and after I described my symptoms and the Dr took x rays, he stayed late to give me root canal immediately following my appointment. He said he didn't want me in pain any longer than necessary. I was so surprised, as any other dentist I have been to has never stayed late, and always requested follow up appointments. My tooth pain is completely gone, and the office called me the next day to make sure I was no longer uncomfortable after the Novocain had worn off. I would definitely recommend Dr Franz. Dr. Franz was wonderful. I brought my 3 year old niece here for a cleaning & exam. It was her first time going to the dentist and they were great! The staff was friendly and awesome with kids. Jackie did the cleaning and she actually made the visit fun for my niece. She explained all the tools in a kid friendly way which prevented my niece from feeling nervous or scared.
