Stay away from this company, they are dishonest and deceitful. I would give Riley's a negative 10 if I could. We had a sump pump go out where the carpet on two walls of the basement were wet about 2-3 ft. in from the wall. Mr. Riley came out and agreed to dry out the basement carpet and remove the soaked padding (approx. 70 S.F.). He quoted a price for cleaning up the basement and drying it out and spraying it to assume no mold. We agreed and shook hands in the garage and he requested payment up front and he asked who pays. I told him he can see my wife inside and she will give you a check for the work. He gave my wife an invoice, after she gave him the check, he asked her to sign the invoice for payment and she did, not knowing he was adding on extra future charges. Mr. Riley did not suction the carpet very good and we had to use our own Bissell carpet extractor to get the water out. He only left two fans, one which had very little power to air out the basement. I had to go out and buy several fans and a dehumidifier to get the extra water out. He did not remove all of the wet padding as promised and I had to call him to request that he come back out and put working fans in, extract the water from the carpet, remove the wet padding and get the moldy smell out since he left the carpet wet for several days without proper extraction, good working fans, or removal of the padding or water. He came back out and put in some working fans but we were left with a moldy smelling basement due to his inaction of getting ride of all of the wet padding and moisture in the basement. Bottom line is when his worker came to collect the fans, his worker gave me a bill for double the original agreed upon amount. Therefore, I called his office and told his office manager that this is fraud and to have him give me a call back, which he did not. His office assistant immediately told me the same day I better pay up and I told her we agreed to a price and we already paid that price and he did not do the job he agreed to. She stated he wrote on the original receipt, showing our full payment for the job, that fans were an extra charge. Again, this was unethical because he agreed with me to do the job for a specific price and I had my wife write out a check to him for that amount, no more no less, yet he was adding in a charge on the receipt without telling us that there was an extra charge for fans. Even when he brought out fans to replace the one that was not working, he stated if you needed more fans I would bring them and I told him the agreement was for drying out and removing the wet padding and we never discussed how many fans and he agreed it was to get the job done. Yet then he sends another invoice double our original agreed upon price. This is fraud and unethical. Who agrees to a price and then writes in small scribbled writing, on a paid receipt, that there is a daily charge for fans without telling that person. I am glad that retailers are not allowed to scribble extra amounts on their receipts and then try to collect double the agreed to sale price. This guy is a crook. read more
