Dr Riff and his associates are known to be some of the best GI doctors in the US. I have been his patient since 1982. Very happy with Dr Riff and Dr Kuttell. Brian Riff is going to take over my care when Dr Riff retires..

My Experience With This Gastro -- Intimidating, Disrespectful, and Deeply Disappointing
I had one of the most disturbing and intimidating experiences I have ever had with a medical professional.
I visited this gastroenterologist seeking medical care for my abdominal pain, but instead of feeling heard, respected, and reassured, I felt frightened, intimidated, and deeply disrespected by his aggressive and confrontational behavior.
The doctor repeatedly turned his chair directly toward me, stared intensely into my eyes, raised his voice, and spoke to me in a manner that felt more like an interrogation than a medical consultation.
Whenever I attempted to explain my symptoms, his responses felt confrontational, almost as though he wanted to argue with me rather than understand my medical concerns.
I genuinely felt afraid of him. No patient should ever feel intimidated or frightened by the physician they are trusting with their health.
At the beginning of my appointment, the doctor introduced a doctor in training and left me with him for approximately 30 minutes. Although I had limited time, I cooperated. Eventually, I had to ask to see the physician I had actually scheduled my appointment with.
When the doctor returned, I was shocked by his manner. The doctor in training was also present during the interaction.
He questioned me about my alcohol consumption in what I perceived as an unnecessarily aggressive tone. I fully understand that questions about alcohol consumption are medically relevant. However, there is a significant difference between asking appropriate medical questions and making a patient feel interrogated or intimidated.
As a Muslim woman who wears a hijab, I was particularly troubled by his treatment of me. His tone, facial expressions, and overall behavior made me question whether religious bias may have played a role in how I was treated. While I cannot know his intentions, I can describe how his behavior affected me. I felt uncomfortable, intimidated, and disrespected.
When I asked whether he would personally perform my endoscopy and colonoscopy because I wanted an experienced physician conducting these procedures, I felt that he responded rudely rather than addressing my concerns professionally.
The experience was so upsetting that I no longer felt safe or comfortable proceeding with my endoscopy and colonoscopy under his care.
These procedures are medically important to me, and I have been seeking answers regarding my ongoing abdominal pain. Unfortunately, read more
