The doctor is good if you can see him. You literally have to wait two hours to see him. Also, it's very difficult to schedule an appointment with him. Two to three months out. The last appointment I had with them, I was scheduled for 8am. I was not seen until at after two hours again!! These kind of mess up's are not ok. I need reasonable time to see the doctor, NOT TWO HOURS! It's ridiculous! It like they don't want to see you! They make the wait so bad that you get up and leave! This is terrible! Don't wast your time here. There are other offices that are professional and can help you with your medical needs. This was the Downey office on Brookshire. Dr Schneider has ALWAYS been very attentive, thorough and caring. I have never felt rushed or hurried. I take an active role in my health care so believe me I always have questions for him. He has always allowed ample time to answer my questions and concerns. He has a great bedside manner, a good sense of humor and very easy going. Which in his line of business, is very much needed. I appreciate the fact that he is easy to talk to and takes the time to listen. His front office staff and his nurses are very friendly and helpful. There have been times when I wasn't able to go into the office because I was so ill, I spoke to Araceli or Diane, my symptoms were conveyed to Dr Schneider and a prescription was called in to the pharmacy for me. Now that's what I call great customer service! I have been his patient for almost 30 years. Dr. Schneider has been my Dr for over 4 years, since I moved to this area. He's awesome, very attentive and takes an active role in my health management. My favorite MA at t his office is Aracely, she is great! however, all of Dr. Schneider's team is amazing. Dr. Schneider has been my Primary Care Physician for 29 years. He has fantastic bedside manner and always makes sure his patients feel heard. He has never once rushed me or given me the sense that he wanted me to stop asking questions. He truly, deeply cares about his patients and their wellbeing. Will you likely wait 1-2 hours if you come in the late afternoon? Yes. But that is because he gives EVERY patient the time they need, even if that means he is running behind. Dr. Mark Schneider, DO is an extremely competent doctor. Above average on paper. He has won awards and recognition. He probably has the key to the city of Downey. On paper a business can look really, really good, but when you interact with the people that run it, it can be far less than stellar. Far, far less stellar in the case of this doctor and his team of nurses and receptionists. Front office: Not very efficient. Not very good phone etiquette. They make you feel like you are wasting their time. On a couple of occasions they failed to record my appointments and I had to wait extra days to see the doctor. Needless to say I was feeling pretty bad and had to endure discomfort longer than I would have liked. Needless to say they didn't find solutions to the problems they created in hopes of making up for their errors. They didn't try to find a way to squeeze me in. They weren't able to let me see another doctor given the circumstances. They made me feel like as if it was my fault they didn't do their job well. It's like they don't care if they lose your business. The doctor has so many patients he probably doesn't care if he loses a couple. No one should rest on their laurels. Not even someone who thinks he can afford to. In my opinion, most teams reflect the attitude of their leader and the front office here reflects the attitude of the doctor. Cold and overly detached. Drones. Nurses: Very, very hard to reach and they are the ones you mostly have to deal with. They are always on lunch apparently. What are the odds that I am merely the world's unluckiest guy and because of this always tried to the reach them at the wrong time? Not likely. If you like the sport of hounding unpleasant nurses I highly recommend you enlist the services of Dr. Schneider. The nurses are very cold and overly detached. Robots. The doctor: Always going to seminars apparently. I can't tell you how many times I have really needed to see him and the receptionists and/or nurses told me in their lovely detached manner that the doctor was away for several days. I guess when you are the great pillar of Downey society that Dr. Schneider is you can afford to go to seminars left and right. You never stop learning, right? Either that or you never stop golfing.... An anecdote: Not too long ago, the good doctor asked me while I was sitting in his office, why I thought I got a cold. It was the rainy season and I had gotten wet and I was in my wet clothes for a long while, so I told him that was the reason I got sick. Please note I didn't study medicine. Please also note that Mexican parents have a bad, bad habit (and Dr. Schneider would rabidly agree) of telling you as a child that wet clothes and extremes in temperature changes in your body, etc. can give you a cold. What a mistake to tell him that! He looked at me in an impatient and arrogant manner and told me that those things don't give you colds - germs do. I got a good lesson in modern medicine admittedly but I got an even better lesson in choosing an adequate doctor. You see, Dr. schneider has no time or patience for people's silly folk diagnoses. Sadly, this shows that he is unaware of cultural differences and consequently a bit clueless as to how to respond to situations created by these differences. Dr. Schneider's clientele are not the same actually, as they were back in the 80's. Downey has changed and so should the doctor. Yes, Dr. Schneider, you know so much more about the human body than many of us, but humility would help you a great deal in delivering your indications. read more

I was a patient here for many years. If you have hours to spare this is the place for you. With an appointment you'll wait 2hrs to be seen just to have your BP and weight taken and sent back out to the waiting area to wait some more. Once you're in, you're going to wait some more. Get this m, all of the waiting is just to be seen by an immature intern. I told the Asian intern that I have carpal tunnel and she said we all have that and didn't make anything of it. Well guess what kiddo, my carpal tunnel isn't from scribbling all day long on pad. I'm a motion picture film technician. I work with undeveloped 35mm film. My fingers aren't only my fingers but my eyes. You have no clue what it is to work in the dark. Im saying this now because I didn't then. That pissed me off really. My wife loved the office. The staff up front were great but the practice itself was just a stepping stone for medical students. I didn't like that at all. I don't go to the doctor because it's fun. People go because they're sick and want to feel better. I never got anywhere with my health after visiting here. It was a waste of my time. I had to switch doctors to finally feel better. He sold the practice now, it doesn't surprise me. He'll have more time for his facials now read more

I have seen this doctor over 1 year. He listens to you doesn't neglect your concerns. He pays attention to details and goes the extras like to find out why you are sick. If he would have my children would have no mother. He is a blessing in my life. read more

I have been a Dr Schneider patient for many years now. My opinion is that he couldn't be a more caring Dr. As much as I hate waiting my turn in the Dr's office I know it is because he is taking the time with his other patients the same as he does with me. I always seem to ask a lot of questions and he has never once said to me that he didn't have time to answer me. He is very patient, answers my questions, explains things to me if I dont' understand the terminology or just don't get it. As far as the staff goes.......Elle up front does seem to have a detached persona but she is always pleasant to me and calls me by name. Aracelli & Diane are both his nurses that are great. When I have been realy sick and called they have always 'worked' me in somehow. Of course I do have to sit & wait 2 or 3 hours but then again I'm grateful that they are getting me in at all. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else! Oh and I don't even have any insurance so it isn't like he's the only Dr I can go to. I could go anywhere so this is 100% my choice to see Dr Schneider read more

I've been under this dodtor for the longest time. Way to many interns that really have no idea what theyre talking about. They have to remember they're not In the class room anymore. I'm 48 now I don't have time to be an assignment for some kid who really has no business in medicine. Especially the Asian kid who laughed and me when I asked him a question about my bowel. Or the asian girl who said " we all get carpal tunnel" well when you're a film technician and work in the dark your hands also become your eyes. I don't sit behind a desk all day a scribble my daily activities like these interns do. Pissed me off when she said that. Not once have I felt like I gotten some where when I've visited this office. Really this is the same story everywhere you go. It's up to the individual to remain healthy so we don't have to be wasting our time in doctors offices.
