Hands down one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. From the moment I walked in, the energy in this office was tense and uncomfortable -- and it didn't take long to see why. The doctor was openly yelling at her staff in front of patients. Not correcting. Not guiding. YELLING. It was embarrassing to witness and completely unprofessional. If this is how she treats her own employees, imagine how little respect she has for patients. She herself was rude, dismissive, rushed, and cold. Zero bedside manner. No empathy. No patience. Just attitude. I felt like an inconvenience rather than a person seeking care. Watching someone berate their staff in a healthcare setting is a massive red flag. A doctor should create a calm, safe environment -- not a hostile one where everyone looks afraid to make a mistake. The poor staff clearly walk on eggshells, and it shows. Medical visits are stressful enough without having to sit in a room while someone throws tantrums and talks down to everyone around them. There are plenty of doctors out there who are professional, kind, and actually care about people. This is NOT one of them. Save yourself the frustration and anxiety. Don't come here. Dr. Carnegie was truly the best doctor I could have asked for. When I was living in Downey in 2018, I was struggling with my mental health and needed a lot of support. She was there for me during some of the hardest times in my life and always showed compassion, patience, and understanding. Thanks to her support, I was able to get an emotional support dog, which made a huge difference in my healing and daily life. I truly love my dogs, and they continue to help me emotionally. She had an intern nurse and was scolding him in front of me which was literally so uncomfortable and unprofessional. The dr herself is rude and makes you feel stupid. My car unfortunately was vandalized in the parking lot, and I asked the businesses in the area if their cameras showed the parking lot. Was met with an extremely rude receptionist. (Female about 5'2", thin, long black/dark brown hair with blonde looking streaks, could not get her name). I asked her normal questions like does your camera show the parking lot, and if it does, can the footage be accessed. She wouldn't say. When I asked her if the person who is able to do that was there, she wouldn't tell me yes or no. I explained that I was asking what it would show, to see if it would be worth having a police officer come. She got someone else who came to speak with me and still..... they refused to say if the camera showed the whole lot. They just kept saying that it showed only their parking lot. I told them that I was parked in their parking lot, but towards the back. They both told me that they would not answer that question, and that a police officer would have to ask them. I said OK that's fine, is the person who has access to the video here today so that when the officer gets here, they will be able to get that footage? Again they wouldn't tell me yes or no if the footage could even be accessed when the police get here. Okay fine. I left. I guess I'll never know what happened to my car. Oh well. The female with the blonde streaks was unbelievably flippant towards me, she gave me the rudest attitude possible, threw her hands up at me multiple times, spoke to me in a way that was unbelievably rude and condescending; like I was some sort of idiot for even walking through the door. I just can't believe that someone working in a professional office would act that way, and also why would you treat someone who's just been a victim of a crime like that? Especially when you're working in a doctors office where you're supposedly a safe and kind environment? I was new to this doctor and came a half hour early (to fill out paperwork) and received no instructions when signing in, except that I signed the wrong sheet. Then I waited until everyone including people that came after me were helped. I've never had to wait 2 hours for an APPOINTMENT in my life. Me and my mom would go there since it's close to home and it's in our insurance network but it's honestly not worth it. I chose to pay a $200 copay going to the ER or $40 going to urgent care rather than go there even if it's not severe. For one, they are booked out over a month and WONT call you back even if you are on the waitlist. The first time I came in I thought I was seeing Dr. Carnegie which is who I booked my appointment with. Instead I saw another doctor and she didn't do much to help me. I was set up for what I thought was an appointment to see my specialist for an ongoing problem that has hospitalized me multiple times and they scheduled me an OB appointment instead. Let's also not forget that they wouldn't refill my meds over the phone and also gave my mom THE WRONG meds that were making her extremely I'll and was off of work for 3 weeks due to it. Oh and the STAFF!!! THE WORST PART! Honestly I've had some nice NURSES help me but the front desk staff is trash, those girls should not be acting like that nor have an attitude with ANYONE especially when you don't give them an attitude. They ALWAYS have a rude demeanor whenever they answer the phone, or if you ask multiple questions, or even just at the office. Guess I'll be the first to review this doctors. i've been coming to this doctors for about a year now and just to be clear right away I will not be returning as of January 1, 2015. Every time I try to make an appointment I cannot get in with the doctor, however I have met with the physician assistant. That is usually because I'm going to the doctors because I'm in pain or really sick and need to see the doctors right away. When I go I go back to the rooms around my appointment time, and I had so issues with my insurance and the people at the doctors office were really helpful. Now why I give the office 2 stars is because every time I went I could hear all the nurses conversation and they were always loud and sometimes gossiping. Also the last time I went to this office my appointment was at 10:45 and I was taken back to my room close to that time but by 11:45 I still had not seen the doctors so I spent an hour waiting to see the doctor (Dr. Carnegie) and I had to leave without being helped because I had to go to work. I come here because it is close to where I live. I know they are busy, but the doctor is very knowledgeable, especially since I have problems with my sugar and iron levels, as well as a history of ear infections. I would recommend to get a morning Appontment and get there a little early. They are pretty good a scheduling toy quickly, especially if you need a follow up after an urgent care or emergency room visit. I have been here for ear wax removal, pneumonia,ear infections, blood results, Pap smear, and general physical. Overall, the doctor understands the working women, which I appreciate and I have only seen 1 physician and she seemed nice. I see a lot of the comments say that the staff are busy and rude. I haven't experienced that, however I have been on hold for a while before. I do always get a call back. Hope this helps. read more

The PA was very helpful during my physical. I thought I had found the right place. The staff was limited an rude. I didn't get my lab results until I called them a month later. I had a brest exam and they didn't even bother to call until I called them a week after the lab Expressed it will be ready. When I did the young lady limited in her knowledge, was rude when I wanted further information an tried to give attitude because she ASSUMED I had gotten my brest exam results. It was disappointing. Considering I work in the medical field, I am extremely critical of doctors. I would have to say Dr. Carnegie is one of the better ones. My first visit we sat and talked for what must have been about 45 minutes before she did any kind of examination. She got to know me before as a person before she treated me ad a patient. Where as most of today's Drs see their patients as a paycheck, and nothing less. As much as I hate Drs in general, I actually don't mind going to Dr. Carnegie. I met with Dr. Carnegie on only one occasion. The next time I had an appointment I met with a PA. I made a follow up appointment through telehealth due to Covid. I explained to the receptionist that I might have to cancel due to my work schedule and it had taken a month to get this appointment. She said they would not charge me for the cancellation. The day of my appointment, My employer told me we were having a meeting at the hour of my appointment...six hours away. I called and cancelled. I then received a bill for cancelling two appointments. I only had one, and it took me over a month to get. In addition, I was billed for medical supplies. I called and complained. What medical supplies? This was an-over-the-phone exam. Were they charging for using their telephone? I told them the charges for medical supplies were fraudulent and the individual handling the billing said she would remove the second charge and the charge for medical supplies. I subsequently developed an infection and requested an appointment since she is my primary physician. I get these infections infrequently and they are usually treated with the same antibiotic. My prior physician would call the pharmacy and order the medicine from the pharmacy when I called him. Dr. Carnegie said they had no appointments for weeks and I could either wait or go to urgent care. I told her I was very sick with this infection and I needed my antibiotics or I would get worse. I couldn't wait weeks. Her receptionist said they wouldn't order my medicine over the phone from the pharmacy and it was my problem. She then hung up. Since I didn't learn my lesson, and she was designated as my primary physician, I made an appointment after going to urgenet care. I arrived before my appointment and after waiting for thirty minutes I was taken to an examining room. I waited there for an hour and a half. Nobody came back to see me. It was stuffy in there and I was getting dizzy, plus I am hypoglycemic and I need to eat since I had been waiting for two hours. I walked out and the medical assistants were sitting and talking, not even acknowledging that I was there. I finally asked when I would be seen and I was told there were four patients ahead of me. I asked if I was going to be there until eight o'clock, and the medical assistant said "could be." She rudely told me that the PA was always running behind and she was "slow." I could not see waiting another two hours feeling like I was going to faint, and ill with an infection, in that stuffy room to see....not the doctor, but a PA. I left without getting my medication refill which I still need. This doctor will not refill any of your medication over the phone. Apparently because she cannot charge for the office visit. There is no consideration for the patient or their health. I won't be going back. The place is run like a third world clinic. The County Hospital doesn't keep their patients waiting as long as this and you get to see an M.D. So, I lost time from work, didn't see a doctor, and didn't get my medicine refilled. Honestly I was trying to give this dr a chance. My first visit back a couple of months ago I made and appointment with Dr. Carnegie (they verified it would be with her) since it was my FIRST VISIT! I was surprised to find out she was NOT going to see me once I was taken to the room. I didn't make a big fuzz I was taken care of and that's all that mattered to me. I'm not very picky. Today I called to make an appointment and the answering machine said "phone hrs are from 9-5pm it might have been 9:30am, it was 4:12 when I called so I figured I can ask for extra assistance. A lady answered my call (I honestly didn't even get her name because she upset me so much). I asked her if I can make an appointment she said the office closed early today no one is in the office (in a VERY RUDE tone). I asked if they were open on Saturday (Tomorrow). She said "no they will be open on Monday". As I was saying "ok th...." she HUNG UP ON ME!!! I WAS FREAKEN THANKING HER! I called back and asked "why did you hang up on me? That was very rude!" I've read the bad comments and I have never experienced any of that with Dr. Carnegie or her staff. I've been a patient with her since 2007 I go every three months. Dr. Carnegie and her staff have always been so nice to me, they remind me of my appointments, they will call me if I'm on the cancellation list, and they get back to me the same day if I have a question for her. And defensive of her staff; they're busy! They have to make appointments, check insurance verification, submit and receive prior authorizations and at the same time check patients in and out. Some of these comments are ridiculous, I'm pretty sure you have bigger problems in your life than to attack a doctors office because you had to wait on the phone for five minutes. Dr. Carnegie is amazing, she's right about everything that I ask regarding my health. She will get on you if you haven't done your mammogram or bloodwork because she wants to make sure everything's OK. She would pressure me all the time to get a mammogram, and I would say OK OK..She wasn't getting paid for that, she kept telling me to do it because she cares, and that equals a great doctor. In this life you get what you put out. I will always go to Dr. Carnegie until she retires. Im a surgeon assistant so I have seen it all with the way doctors treat their patients. Some are amazing and some Aren't! A few years ago I became ill with really bad bronchitis and laryngitis. It would've been so easy for me to just walk down the hallway in the hospital I work in and ask one of the doctors to write a prescription for me. Not only for me but also my husband which will be 80 this year. She has guided us through family loss but is still keeping us in health. I've been coming here for 10 years and I'm disappointed because I have noticed a decline in customer service and a lack of communication. I visited during the first week of March because I had bronchitis. After I did the breathing treatment, I was still coughing so they ordered blood work for me and told me to come back in two weeks. I thought that I was supposed to return to Dr. Carnegie's office to get my blood drawn because that's where I went last year. I came back on March 20 and they told me that my appointment was actually for my results and I was supposed to go to Quest to get my blood drawn after leaving the doctor's office. I never said that I wanted to do it at Quest in the first place. Even if I already had my blood drawn, why would I come back to find out my results when I can do that over the phone? I ended up returning the next day to do my blood work. While waiting, I overheard another patient talking to one of the receptionists. The patient told her she called the day before and she was told that she could walk in, but the receptionist said she needed an appointment. The patient walked away frustrated and I could relate because I believe everyone at Dr. Carnegie's office needs to learn how to be on the same page. I also asked Dr. Carnegie to write an order for me so I could get a chest X-ray because I need it for employment reasons (I work in a school) and her office doesn't do X-rays. I decided to go to PIH in Whittier on March 25 because I've been there before. PIH told me that my doctor's office should have my results in two business days. I called Dr. Carnegie's office last Wednesday, March 27, but they said that they didn't have my results yet. I called Dr. Carnegie's office again on Thursday and was placed on hold for about 13 minutes before they hung up on me. I called again and was placed on hold for another 10-15 minutes. I spoke to a lady named Rachel and when she asked where I did my chest X-ray, I told her the PIH in Whittier. She kept insisting that I went to the PIH in Downey, but I repeated myself and said, "The PIH in Whittier on Washington Blvd." Rachel couldn't find my results and told me that she'll call the PIH in Downey, but I had to tell her one more time that I went to WHITTIER. She didn't apologize, but she said she would call me back later after contacting them. I didn't get a call back. I didn't even bother calling Dr. Carnegie's office on Friday because I had to pick up my mom from her work after I left work. I called again today because it's been a week and I thought they would have my results by now. I spoke with Monica from Dr. Carnegie's office and she told me they STILL don't have my results. She also said she would contact PIH in Whittier and call me back later today. I didn't receive another call. I contacted PIH and they told me that they faxed my results to my doctor's office LAST WEEK. I'm going directly to PIH to get a copy of my results because Dr. Carnegie's office needs to get it together. read more

Has been my doctor for 18 years. Dr. Carnegie has been my doctor for 18 years. We have followed her from her first location then to her small office and now her current location. I remember when she just first got out of her residency. In fact I think we were one of her first patients! My husband first started going to her and then myself. Finally we had my son go. She is very thorough in her assessment and she is genuinely concerned. Over the past 18 years her practice has grown and she has acquired a lot more patients, but its nice to know not matter how busy she is, when she sees me, I fee she gives me all the attention. read more

If there was an option to give no stars I would definitely do it. Every time I have come here I am seen by a different assistant. It seems as though I can never get a hold of the actual Doctor, which is quite unfortunate, but that is not my main issue with this place. From the moment you arrive you feel ignored. You'll go to the receptionist and she will not greet you with a "hello" or anything. Instead, she will continue to stare at her computer screen and not acknowledge you. When you're finally called back you will wait in the room for 1 hour or more to see the assistant. The nurses working there are incredibly rude and unprofessional towards the patients. When I was called into the room the nurse said nothing while she was checking BP and all. Instead she used hand signals as if she didn't want to communicate with me. They seem to have no knowledge of communication with patients. They can only communicate with each other. The least they can do is try to be polite. I'm going to Dr Karagen for over 20 years last three years all she is a prescription writer I have terrible back but it's easier to get narcotics from her and I mean any narcotics offer her then going to a pain specialist so I've been going there but you never see her they screw up every kind of paperwork you could think of and we try to help them they think you're ignorant and do not even look or listen to you am going to a pain center now and have to see them once a mouth when she would write me four hard copies at a time so I didn't need to see her so offen for times a year instead of twelve times like the pain center if you need a doctor don't go to her if you need a prescription for anything that's the doctor for you she knows it's illegal to writing the prescription four at a time even her rent a doctor are too smart too do it they have her sign them if you're illness can get fixed with a piece of paper it's worth the money and time to see her but if am sick I go somewhere else a REAL DOCTOR NOT A HAND WRITING EXPERT as you can see I don't go too her any more and never will sometimes going four a year is not easier than 12 times a year the Dr. she wrote me for 14 pills a day and she had me on insulin that the other doctor took me OFF of eight of them and no insulin I feel so much better even my back is better less pain medication much happier if you care about your health do not see this Doctor dr.
