I had been in the market for medical insurance through Covered CA but the cheapest one I could…read morefind, that also allowed me to go to the doctors I had been going to for years, was a bit expensive. I decided to look into other options and did a search for places I could pay out of pocket. When I lived in Mexico, I had been using the services at a local hospital, paying a monthly membership fee for their services so imagine my surprise when I found out that the exact same system existed here. That was when I found Dr. Marisse so I booked an appointment. I found her originally on Zocdoc and the nearest appointment was in a month and a half. Within a day of making the appointment, I was called by the office to Nurse Shawna who wanted to make sure that I knew that all appointments needed a preliminary chat with the Doc, after which I could book my appointment. thanked me for letting her know that the next available appointment was that far away. It turned out there was a mix-up and that she did have more immediate appointments available. There is plenty of parking, as it is in shared parking lot with other businesses. However, there are two buildings with the same building number but with different locale numbers. Upper Echelon is in the building nearest to the AAA and the Farmer Boys. At the appointment, everything was clearly explained and we went over a sort of plan of attack, with regards to my concerns and what I needed to do. I appreciated paying less per month for the membership, which includes as many appointments as you want. The lab work and the tests are at wholesale prices so even with the membership fee and registration, all of this was cheaper than the plan I was going to get with insurance. What I appreciated was the quickness of getting an appointment. I have always hated waiting a few weeks, as a new patient, before actually being seen but I was able to book this within a week of the appointment. It was a week because their availability interfered with my work hours. Otherwise, I would have been seen earlier. All in all, it is pretty convenient and a wallet-friendly option. After that first appointment and the lab results came in, Dr. Marisse wrote a VERY long email detailing every point of concern. Which I appreciated because I went for answers and I was getting them. If you need a straightforward person to tell you what you need to be doing and not someone who has to be on your ass every step of the way, this is the ideal option. I would say the ONLY con is that they do not have appointments during the weekends. And since I work during the week, I have to take time off to go to an appointment.

A special thank you to Shawna and Karla--they went above and beyond to provide outstanding care. They were incredibly kind, attentive, and took the time to answer all of my questions without making me feel rushed. Their professionalism, compassion, and positive attitudes truly made a difference and turned what could have been a stressful visit into a great experience. It's rare to find a medical office where you feel genuinely cared for, and Shawna and Karla exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Upper Echelon Medical Office to anyone looking for quality care and exceptional customer service. Thank you both for making my visit such a positive one! Dr. Marisse is truly one of the best doctors I've ever had. She explains everything clearly, never makes you feel rushed, and always makes you feel like your health and well-being are her top priority. Her professionalism and caring attitude give me complete confidence in the care I receive. I highly recommend Dr. Marisse to anyone looking for an exceptional physician.

On several occasions it felt like he spent 3 to 5 minutes, and I believe his max is 10 minutes. I never felt like he truly cared about me as a patient; it feels like a McDonald's drive-thru. One day, I verbally expressed to him that I felt like he spent very little time with patients, and he lost his patience and became super furious saying that he felt insulted. He immediately kicked me out of his office. He should go into high frequency trading.

What I like about Dr. Kaw is that it is easy to book an appointment with him and you don't have to wait for weeks on end like St. Jude. He quickly and accurately diagnoses any medical issues you may have and I appreciate his expedient, straightforward manner and friendly demeanor. His staff is also great as they are responsive on the phone and fill prescriptions quickly - sometimes while I'm still sitting in the office so that they're ready for pick up at CVS down the road after my appointments. He also went the extra mile in getting a prior authorization for meds approved from my insurance, who have been very challenging to deal with to say the least. If you're looking for a competent and reliable GP in North OC, give Dr. Kaw a call.

Given the current situation, she mentioned it could be the flu, so in-person consultations weren't possible, and only telemedicine was available. I understood and agreed with that, but she didn't confirm the consultation time and instead hurriedly demanded my date of birth. After checking, she sighed and asked if it was my first visit, showing frustration as if I were the one who didn't understand. I'm usually easy-going, but to be blunt, I can be a bit lazy, so I generally don't leave reviews. However, if the clinic is going to continue operating, the receptionist, Hannah, really needs to be replaced. I've never been treated this rudely in my life. I reached out to this clinic for treatment, but I ended up leaving with more issues.

While we appreciate the proximity of your office, I am increasingly concerned about the frequency of her required visits. My mother is 86 years old and, while she is generally in good condition, she experiences persistent left hip and abdominal pain that began five years ago after a minor stroke. We have been bringing her to Dr Lee's office almost every month--and recently at least almost twice a month--for this same pain, but unfortunately, nothing has worked so far. Additionally, she undergoes blood tests and urine tests very frequently around every 2 months, most recently three weeks ago, and it seems these tests are conducted less than every eight weeks. As her caregiver, I am concerned about the physical toll that this frequent testing and traveling takes on her. Most recently, I called Dr. Lee's office to request a refill for her cough medicine which we got prescribed from Dr Lee, His staff informed me that we need to schedule yet another in-person visit. Given that we have already visited 3 weeks ago, I would like to better understand the medical necessity behind requiring an in-person appointment for a routine medication refill, as well as the need for such frequent diagnostic testing. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss a more streamlined care plan for my mother that minimizes unnecessary travel while still managing her health effectively.

The lady on front will most likely tell you that they don't know the costs, since they need to check with your insurance first, so make sure to ask how much everything costs prior to insurance covering. It is a ridiculous amount that no one should pay for.

At my first visit with him, he rushed me through my general physical and talked *at* me rather than *to* me. I tried to talk to him about what I thought was a food allergy, and after I described what I was experiencing, he said, "if those foods are bothering you, then just don't eat them." I was kind of baffled by that. "Yes, of course," I agreed,"but I'd like to know if I'm truly allergic or not." His response was: "I can send you to an allergist, but they're really not going to be able to test for that." I suggested seeing a GI doctor; but his response was the same: "Waste of time." Oh, and he did all of that at the top of his voice in a quiet office. Thanks. I appreciate a doctor that can tell me the truth without the sugar-coating; but after getting a second opinion (which suggested I do see a GI to *confirm*), it was clear that Dr. Kim really didn't have time for me. The only upside to seeing this doctor was his outstanding office staff. PS. St. Jude Medical Ctr charges for parking in 30 minute increments, which is just plain mean.

Each time I try to follow up, I'm met with long hold times, unreturned calls, or I'm outright hung up on. When I asked why I was being referred to a doctor in Alhambra when I live in Fullerton, I was met with hostility. I've remained polite throughout, only trying to advocate for my health, which seems to be treated as an afterthought. To date, no one has helped me find a provider who can actually see me, and my condition is worsening. It feels like there is something in my eye all the time--because there is--and I'm now left with no choice but to pay out of pocket for proper care. This lack of coordination and accountability is not just frustrating--it's dangerous. The same issues have happened with other referrals (gynecology, dermatology), where providers have told me they don't accept my plan. This has left me feeling abandoned by a system that is supposed to prioritize patient health.
