BUYERS BEWARE: Maybe others won't have this experience, but heres my story.
I went to Ridgeline steel recently ordered steel for a shed I hired contractors to build through Ridgeline Steel in Redmond, Oregon. I took up a drawing with pictures and ordered was given a quote with the correct measurements. These are in the Ridgeline Steel employees handwriting as can be seen in the provided documents that match the handwriting on the Ridgeline order form. He even drew out the correct numbers on the yellow page and I confirmed. When he wrote up the contract he changed the numbers, and I wasn't aware that he had done this. It was clear that it was 5/12 roof pitch which would give them the right measurements so the gable end panels were cut to the right length. As can be seen on the order form, I believe Drew wrote that they were two different roof pitches (one spot he wrote 4/12, and another right under is a 5/12). I think this is why the panels ended up cut for a 4/12 pitch roof. I understand people make mistakes, but taking responsibility is the way responsible business owners and employees operate. This is where we went wrong. I asked Drew to make it right and he said it was my fault and was extremely rude. He told me to pay for more steel or take my business elsewhere. After 7 phone calls with him, and getting nowhere, I asked to speak to the owner. He said he wasn't available but would call me tomorrow. I got no call the next day, and I called twice. I got no call back. I called 4 times the next day, and finally after telling them they were leaving me no choice to litigate this matter, the owner (Shane) picked up. I guess I thought I would be able to reason with him. Unfortunately he was 10x more disrespectful than Drew the salesman, and after about 30 seconds hung up on me. I was blown away at how disrespectful he was. He told me it was my fault and to litigate it. Super disrespectful, and all of this could have been mitigated with some respect and meeting in the middle. I hope others don't have to go through this as it cost me alot more than budgeted with contractors, as well as my time. No one wants to deal with these types of headaches, and by shopping elsewhere this can all be avoided in my opinion. They are NOT the only steel suppliers in Central Oregon.
Bridger steel is their supplier, and they are just a middle man charging the retail customer more money for storage and sales. I had much better luck with Bridger Steel customer service, and they were delightful to deal with. AM-1 roofing is great to. read more
