I was very impressed at how natural it looked after the repair. I am even more impressed with the remodeled kitchen window sill in my home! The wood sill, which was part of the original construction in 2003, was a very poorly thought out design. It overhung the granite rise from the countertop, and nearly touched the faucet, causing it to get splashed with water when using the kitchen sink, and eventually damaging the wooden sill. Jesse took the four extra 12" granite tiles the builders left, matched them to the rise tiles, bull-nosed one edge, and when the work was completed, it looked fantastic! Every time I see it, it makes me smile! Such a difference from the tacky wooden sill that was built originally. I am so very happy with the quality of Jesse's work, and his professionalism. Blair suggested testing a stair to find out which treatment would be best. One treatment was quite a bit more expensive than the other. I was impressed with their honesty when they chose the less expensive route. I have allergies to dust (eapecially smoke from the local fires, fumes from cleaning solvents and paint fumes), but they took care to mask off the staircase from the rest of the house and used fans to suck out dust and fumes. I came through it just fine because of their consideration. Each night they cleaned up their tools and stacked them neatly and out of the way. They started and finished the job in the time they estimated, masked off the stairs from the rest of the house to keep dust at a minimum, cleaned up at the end of each day, were considerate of my allergies, and honest about using a less expensive wood treatment. Unfortunately, the guy was not very competent. Floor finish was sort of lifeless and uneven in several places, with obvious improper sanding in some corners and edges. I went to one of the big contractors in Bend for advice. They were completely booked, but gave me the name of the #1 guy they refer to for any problems - Sean at Absolute Wood Floors. Long story short: Absolute refinished the floor for a great price and the result was spectacular, perfect, great attention to detail. Night and day difference. If you are installing hardwood floors I would recommend that you at least have Sean come out and explain what he will do and the care he will take. Just meet him. I'm pretty sure you will right away know that this is the guy you want to work with. It will probably be pretty obvious. He has integrity, is dedicated to getting a superb result, and he does.
