There is a big log house by the bluffs for wedding family, so they can have their own privacy before the ceremony. (Btw, walking in stilettos can be challenging since the area is all grassy and soil) After the ceremony, we walked to the 2 story barn to attend the cocktail, and had their complimentary hot apple cider, was delicious. We were warmly greeted and the owner was friendly and very knowledgeable. He restored the winery/stagecoach stop himself (he even shared before pictures) and makes the wine himself from the old recipes from the area, and from the fruits of the area (except for the lemons, which come from Arizona). The wines were unique and very good. Prior to this, I had never had rhubarb wine or a wine made from multiflora roses. Both were heavenly, and neither of us tasted a wine there that we felt wasn't good. The building itself is very neat and has much of its original charm, including the original windows. There are a few nice outdoor seating areas and a nice garden, as well. Know before you go: This place only accepts cash or check. There is an ATM down the road in a local bar.

We had tickets to see Chicago Farmer a few week back, I have been wanting to see this act for a long time so I was very excited. It was a very warm weekend. My friends and I could not figure out from the website or the tickets if this was scheduled as an indoors show or outdoors. I figured the best way to find out was to actually call the venue. I called the venue the evening before and asked if it was going to be an indoor or outdoor show. The gentleman that I talked talked to never really answered if it was indoor or outdoors, but eventually told me it was scheduled to be outdoors, and if the weather was an issue it would move indoors. Trying to plan ahead, since I had never seen an outdoor show, I asked the gentleman on the phone if patrons brought their own lawn chairs for outside shows. This was new to me and I wanted to be prepared for my evening. The gentleman on the phone was very rude and told me if I would've read my tickets I would've had the answers to all these questions. I feel like I looked in the proper places to get these answers and then I looked again after I got off the phone with him, nowhere on the tickets did it explain whether or not it was an indoor and outdoor show and if it was an outdoor show that patrons were to bring their own lawn chairs. What should've been an easy informative phone call to the venue ended up leaving a very bad taste in my mouth. I was planning on heading out with a group of eight of us, we would've spent a decent amount of money at the venue. After the conversation with the gentleman on the phone, I discussed the issue with my friends, and we decided that we were going to choose not to spend our money at that venue. I hope that this is not common practice to be rude to customers as they're trying to gather information about a concert that they were looking forward to seeing. It is a beautiful, fun establishment that I hope to enjoy in the future.

There was a huge back area for prep (of the wedding party). There are several bathrooms and all are single-stall, so I got more privacy than I was accustomed to from church and other venue weddings. Overall, very nice! The brick of the building looks good in the photos. It's such a short walk from the town square and a short drive from some green areas if you want different kinds of photos.
