Great shop with good, fair prices! I worked with Marc--he was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I have an old '91 I'm working to restore. When I got stuck on a problem they were happy to help. He explained how they would approach the problem upfront. They were thorough and cautious, which I appreciate. It's easy to break parts on these old cars by going to fast or cutting corners. I've been bringing cars here for years. Unfortunately, it seems like every month I have another BIG repair that needs to be done. Most recently, I had the the driver side control arm replaced and the alignment done. After the repair was done, the car was not taken on the highway by the mechanic. I brought it back and said the car was not driving properly, so Marc re-did the alignment, moved tires around, etc. It took him 2.5 days plus the 2 days it was there the previous week. Again, he didn't take it on the highway (where it would have been obvious the job was not done), and it was not fixed. I took it to another mechanic, and turns out that the control arm was completely LOOSE, not torqued at all. It could have come loose when I was ON THE HIGHWAY as I had been under the impression it was just new tires I needed, since it was vibrating. He tells me he doesn't have time to take it on the highway...but other mechanics will and do. I had to pay another mechanic $380 to finish the job and re-do the alignment. No apologies from Marc, no accountability, and no refund. Anyway, another issue, the final straw, I was given the car back after extensive repairs and told that it was "good and safe", though there was something that wasn't right (a high idle), but it should be okay to drive, no check engine light. Fast forward 3 months, my engine is completely dead. The car totaled, the high idle killed my engine. I was referred to Marc by a former co-worker so I trusted him, but I've definitely wasted over $10k in faulty repairs, and now my car is completely totaled. I'm so disappointed because Marc seems like a nice guy, but he did me dirty again and again. Always with excuses. read more

I went over to mark and got a great feeling from them when we first talked about my car and what needed to be done to it. We came to a agreed price and really was feeling very confident with mark and his team in general . After we agree on a price of 1200 all in and how long it would take to do the said job.I left my car with him and I went on my way. I never heard from mark until I called to check a day after he was suppose to call me . And that's fine .it's manual labor, things take time and the car is a German car from 1996, it had some corrosion on the parts. that's going to take time to get off .. No problem. when I called mark he had told me things where talking a bit longer due to the corrosion like I suspected . He then tells me the car will be done by 10am the next day and to come in and get it then. The next day I come in to get the car and the bill is 1500, well over what we had spoke and agreed on. Mark then tells me there is nothing he can do . I have to pay for it or he won't give me my keys. Keep in mind , we agreed on 1200 written consent . mark then tells me the parts cost more then he thought and the labor to take off the original parts was more then he thought . Now If mark had called me and told me this during the process or hey lets just be honest , before they did the work . I might not even be writing thing . But he failed to communicate what the actual cost where and then stuck me with more money then we agreed on. That's just not how you do business with anyone . We sat down and finally came to a agreement of 1460 and that was that ... They did do a good amount of work on my car including alignment. But after I payed them this inflated price , the car was not aligned and when I drove two hours on the car , my tie rods on the front right side where loose and I could turn the bolt with my hand . It's dangerous and just simply a lack of attention to detail in the most basic way. So just think about this before you go into this shop. After I went back three times to get my alignment done over and over .. It's still not right .... The tie rods are just ridiculous though ... C'mon ... I really was very fare with these guys . All I wanted was a fare deal and honest interaction. This was far from that.... read more

Since my last mechanic was displaced by the RedWing store on 4th Ave, I've been looking for a place that was trustworthy and reliable. I've taken my car to Ridge a few times now, and have gotten great work at a very reasonable price. Very friendly service, which is always nice, but most importantly Ridge can be trusted to do the work that is needed and ONLY the work that is needed - unlike some mechanics, there's no inflating the bill with unnecessary repairs. Also, Ridge is conveniently located near the R train on 4th Ave, and near Dinosaur BBQ on Union Street, so if you need to wait while you're getting your car inspected, you can grab a great lunch. read more
