I had the blueberry bagel, which was good, but they were pretty heavy-handed with the cream cheese for my taste. Easy fix if you ask for light spread. We also got the Nova Scotia salmon on an everything bagel, and that was solid--simple and satisfying. Good spot if you want something quick and reliable to kick off the morning. read more

I've only been here 2 times but each time the food was really good. The first time I had an egg white sandwich with turkey avocado and tomatoes on a wrap. I have to say this wrap was massive and I definitely got my moneys worth. The second time I was here I got a flat everything bagel with dill cream cheese. I'm not really a bagel guy but just looking at it, it looked soo good so I had to have it. I can honestly say this was one of the best bagels I've ever had wow I was blown away. I would definitely drive all the way to this place just to have this bagel again. If you're looking to have a bagel but don't want the whole thing this is definitely the thing to get. Went here today for breakfast. I got the Texas wrap. It was delicious and exactly what I needed. I was starving. My husband got an everything flat bagel with dill cream cheese. He said it was the best bagel he ever had. It's a very small spot with limited seating. There's a booth inside for sitting and two small tables outside. The cook was really nice. My daughter wanted to have the full NY bagel experience so before going to the library we stopped in for a late breakfast. I was so happy it wasn't packed because I was starving. I was basic and ordered the Caesar wrap, but my daughter got her NY bagel, and she said it was delicious. The inside is small, but outside they had two tables with chairs. Came in around 8:20 on a Sunday, and there were quite a few people leaving but luckily no line since I was trying to catch a train from Grand Central but needed some breakfast first. My order was quickly taken, and I got my bagel ($7 for a toasted everything bagel with scallion cream cheese) in around 2 min. The bagel was delicious, but the standout was the cream cheese. Chunks of scallion all throughout the bagel adding a nice bite. Overall the bagel was probably slightly less on the salty side which I know many prefer, but quite garlicy. This review is for the Mexican Torta. It's not on the menu on the wall but it was on a chalk board outside the door. I'm from SF so when I saw torta I had to try. First of all, it is not a real Mexican torta. It's just a sandwich but with chorizo sausage and egg. It had avocado in it as well as canned escaneche which is basically jalapeño and carrot from the can. It was delicious and the portion size was big. The egg and chorizo made of feel Mexican. But it was of course missing beans and crema. The service was very friendly and the place looked clean. You can see them making your sandwich. I didn't try the bagels. Rico Bagel is a warm inviting cafe with many menu options with a slight flair. I was warmly greeted by staff and picked up an assortment of bagels including jalapeño bagels, salt bagels, garlic bagels, a blueberry bagel and a rainbow bagel as well as a blueberry muffin, a croissant and a cheese filled croissant. The bagels varied in density and toughness but all were good! I found the jalepeno bagels to be my favorite as the bread was the best and the flavor was unique but not too overwhelming. The salt bagels were a little too salty and tough. I loved the croissant and the blueberry muffin. By no means the best I've EVER had, but still great flavors with the muffin being perfectly sweet and the croissant buttery and chewy (not very flaky). The cheese filled croissant was a little too sweet for me. The inside and outside has some cute seating and overall the place is inviting and a cute place to pick up some last minute pastries/breakfast or hangout with a coffee for a bit. read more

I popped in here on the way to the office with a strong craving for a sausage, egg, and cheese. And Rico's did not disappoint! The bagel sandwich was oozing with American cheese and the side of vegan veggie spread was a game changer. I appreciate a place with good vegan cream cheese. This is my favorite bagel spot in the city! I did not think I'd be able to find it on my second visit back but was so happy I did. I love to get the flat bagels, they have several different cream cheese options and the bagels are always so crispy, fresh out of the toaster, toasted to perfection. My go to is a sesame bagel with veggie cream cheese although they have many other menu items as well to choose from. This is a small store front that feels like a typical bakery in NYC with coffee, Cuban sandwiches, different spreads, salads, etc. there are some tables outside and the lines moves pretty quickly, with one person taking and preparing your order and another person at the cashier. It was my first time in New York and was told I had to come try these bagels. This was such a cute place to stop by and was nice and clean. The place was a very small to walk in and only a few seats available though. Thankfully I came by a time there wasn't many people so was able to go in without feeling overcrowded. They had many different cream cheese flavors and bagels that it was hard to choose from. The folks that work there were very nice and was able to get my bagel out fairly quickly. I had to get the cool looking rainbow bagel (just a regular bagel no special flavor to it). The bagel was very soft and they were cool enough to toast it for me. I asked them to add the honey apple cream cheese and my goodness it was good! It was light, fluffy, and you can taste the flavors but wasn't overpowering. If it wasn't for so many people that came soon after would have gotten another one. My cousin got a breakfast sandwich which looked good too. I would definitely come by this place again in the future but be aware of the times they are open as they close early in the day. For sure worth the try. read more

Rico Bagel was close to my hotel so my coworkers and I ordered breakfast to go. They have a large menu including bagels and traditional breakfast options. The online ordering system was a bit tricky, but I was able to figure it out. I ordered a bagel with cinnamon cream cheese. Sought out Rico Bagel while staying at a nearby hotel for the weekend, after looking at reviews. I think this could be one of the best bagel spots in the area, once finding a go-to order. My husband & I enjoyed what we had, but think there may be better items on the menu. Food is pretty good, gluten free bagels only inconsistently available, attitude from the cashier lady. First visit to NY and the two main items on my list of must dos is to taste some good NY pizzas and NY bagels. Rico's had very good Yelp ratings and was within walking distance from our hotel, so off we went the following morning after arriving. This a very cute little take-out only bagel shop with salsa music blasting overhead, with a really yummy selection of freshly made bagels on display ....and to add to the excitement, there were about a dozen varieties of different flavored cream cheeses to choose from....oooooh, couldn't wait! I guess it was later in the morning so there was no crowd here at all.....must have missed the morning pre-office rush for a quick bite with coffee hour.....good for us there was no wait. We ordered a garlic bagel with roasted garlic cream cheese, with avocado, lettuce, tomato, and onions. There's no doubt that the quality of the bagels here are very fresh, have a wonderful chew to it, and tasted just great with our custom selected ingredients. So why only 3 stars? Although the bagels and cream cheeses are totally yummy, the service was not very friendly....no smiles, no greetings, a bit rude and grumpy, and they got our simple order wrong and had to remake our sandwich....with no apologies. Not sure what the issue was as we were the only ones in there at the time. I've been here two times, and generally the bagels are good. The reason I'm giving it a low star rating though is due to their extremely confusing and exorbitant pricing calculations. The deluxe lox bagel with veggies is $19. I've seen cheaper menu items in manhattan at a dine-in restaurant, but again the bagels are fresh, so I am neutral on the pricing of this item. What made me write this review is that, after seeing that price and realizing I wasn't hungry enough for a large, meaty sandwich, I decided on a veggie bagel. Wonder how much that was? Over $20. Wanna know why? Because unannounced to me, veggie bagels are considered custom. The bagel itself is $13 and then every veggie is $1.95 tacked on. I asked the cashier what made her price it that way compared to the salmon lox, and she said the lox only has tomatoes and onions. So I asked if my sandwich was more expensive due to the lettuce, and she answered yes. So because I got a sandwich (without smear compared to lox, which I noticed after I left with my bag) with one extra veggie and lacking meat, my sandwich was more expensive than the lox sandwich with vegetables. Honestly, if I hadn't even known the price of the lox sandwich with vegetables, I may not be as mad as I am, because midtown prices can be weird. But the fact that this sandwich had less than the meat one, but more expensive is insane. Consider yourself warned! read more

Stayed right around the corner to this place and what a great find! Ordered the pancakes for my son and the bagels were awesome ! Fresh and great taste! Could've been a little more toasted but since they were fresh out of the oven, I didn't mind. Enough cream cheese (not too much, and not too little) and great flavor options. I had an everything and went back again the second day and had a garlic bagel. This place is a staple bagel place so get there early enough otherwise you're waiting in line. The only thing I'd suggest is to work on their online ordering option. It's not the most user friendly and no options to select toasting or even comments to double toast a bagel if wanted and not all flavor options were for ordering online. read more

The bagel shop is great and counter service was friendly and welcoming. It was a bit small inside but I believe great for taking food to go. We took our bagels to go but scarfed they down right out front the shop. I had an egg bagel with bacon on a jalapeño bagel.
