After working with 3 different companies to estimate the cost and options to remodel our master bathroom, we went with Ricky. We couldn't have done any better! After spending time with us understanding what we wanted, he gave us a very detailed estimate of what to expect. After we compared this estimate to others and decided to go with him, he then spent time with us visiting the Tile Shop and cabinetry companies and picking out details. When we changed our minds and decided to do more tile, he was very prompt in giving us an adjusted estimate, and we never felt like he had under-bid, we knew it was our decision. We asked him to adjust the start date for the project twice, and he accommodated, communicating very well as the date approached. On day one, Francisco spent the entire day just prepping and protecting the adjoining bedroom and traffic way. He wrapped the curtains! We thought it was a bit overkill at first, until the demolition and later the tiling started and the dust arrived! They showed up on time everyday, constantly asked for input and feedback, were very respectful with our ignorance on how a remodel went, and were patient with our energetic Labrador Retriever. There were a few hiccups when parts were the wrong size or the vanities and granite came from the factories with errors, but Ricky and the guys adjusted effortlessly. Peter, Francisco and Andreas were the regulars and we got to know them pretty well. Hard working, know their stuff, and just nice guys to just talk to. We invited them and Francisco came to our 4th of July cookout! The project turned out better than we could have imagined. We have a beautiful bathroom with a walk-in shower, soaking tub and spacious cabinets. We wouldn't consider having anyone else do any work on the house again, and we feel it was worth every penny. You can't go wrong with this team! read more

Quality of work, price, and time were the top priorities for us when selecting a contractor to do our home renovation. My wife and I recently purchased a new house in Lake Ridge, Virginia and wanted to remodel the kitchen, master bathroom, and a guest bathroom. We are new to the area and have never had so much work done to a house we've owned so we did not know what to expect. We got several quotes from different contractors located in the Northern Virginia area to do the work we requested. While we felt confident in several of the contractors who provided quotes we decided to hire (Ricky Can Build It) because Ricky got straight to the point and guaranteed he would get the work completed on time and within budget. Ricky walked into each area and told us within seconds what his cost would be to renovate the space so all we needed to do was factor in the cost of materials. We couldn't be happier! The work is top notch and Ricky's team worked hard ensuring all the spaces were finished correctly. Many of the materials we selected were hard to work with but Ricky and his team detailed our kitchen and two bathrooms exactly as we hoped. My wife and I have a newborn and were not yet living in the house when the renovations were being completed but we expressed the importance of completing the work on time so when we moved in the baby's sleep and sinus track wouldn't be affected. This renovation was as much a learning experience for us as it was an opportunity to make our new house feel like home. Ricky helped my wife and I navigate the millions of choices and options pertaining to home renovations and, while sometimes overwhelming, we eventually got the kitchen, master bathroom and guest bathroom we dreamed of. Ricky deals closely with cabinet, granite, and glass fabricators in the area. Originally, we were going to have our kitchen and bathroom cabinets painted and were going to leave the old granite countertops in place. However, Ricky has so many local connections we ended up getting all new cabinets and all new quartz countertops (in the kitchen and both bathrooms) for just a bit more money than refurbishment would have cost. After Ricky's team (who are all very polite, professional, and helpful) finished the work and after we had been living in the house for a month Ricky gave us a quality assurance call. I mentioned to Ricky that a few electrical outlets had gone out but I was not sure if the issue was related to the renovation. Ricky sent out his electrician and he replaced several outlets and checked all the others at no cost. We would absolutely use (Ricky Can Build It) again and we would recommend them to anyone we know in the Northern Virginia area. Ricky and his team made a challenging and potentially stressful situation manageable and now we have the house we dreamed of when we first purchased. read more

I had Ricky and his team do a full kitchen remodel for us on a town home we bought in October of last year. We also included hardwood floors throughout the main level and remodeled a powder room as well. After reviewing he scope of the project, I asked Ricky to sit down with me and put together an estimated project plan, cost estimates and payment schedule. This is the first time I have ever had a contractor give me a full breakdown of all costs and provided transparency into labor and materials cost for each major part of the project. He was flexible in letting us determine what items we wanted him to buy and what other things, like appliances we would buy and have him install. Ricky's team was always on time, always there by 7 am and he was also available for me whenever I had questions and whenever I felt something had to be reviewed or changed. We did have 2 or 3 changes made, and Ricky would generate a change order by the next day, created an addendum for the contract and updated costs and timelines. We finished the project together, it felt like a team effort and sure enough, it came in on time and on budget. Something else that Ricky did that was not really expected is that he shared with us his sources and his suppliers for flooring, tile, etc. He did a great job. read more

We hired Ricky to build our new kitchen, bringing it from the 80s into the the current era. We interviewed half a dozen contractors, and Ricky stood out for several reasons. He was extremely professional and personable. He was polite and ready to share lots of information about possibilities. He gave us solutions where none had seemed to exist. His price was reasonable. And finally, he genuinely wanted our business. And that last one did it for me. When work started, his crew was again extremely professional and considerate of our home and our family. His crew showed up on the dot every morning and executed the day's work as planned. His workmanship is top-notch, his knowledge of construction practices and materials is second to none. Most importantly, for me, his attitude was not that of a tired, know-it-all contractor, but that of a genuine partner in the project interested in giving us what we wanted, and wanting to make us happy to the maximum extent possible. For that, he went out of his way a few times, and we appreciate that. During construction, as it so often happens, little problems cropped up. Ricky was unfazed, and each time, he brought on professionals who could solve the problem to our satisfaction. I consulted with him so many times on design issues and he gave great input each time. Our kitchen looks beautiful, beyond what I had probably imagined. For that, Ricky takes plenty of credit. I would not hesitate to contract with him for any work and wholeheartedly recommend him and his crew. Ricky made this a very pleasant and enjoyable experience for the whole family. read more

Bottom line: Ricky Can Build It is a high quality, dependable contractor. Ricky hires great people to produce a great project on time and on budget. In 2017-2018, we worked with Ricky on an extensive remodel and addition of our 1940s townhome, including a new kitchen and 2.5 bathrooms. It was six-figure, five-month project that encountered many challenges along the way--mostly relating to issues endemic in any old home. At every point, Ricky and his team were calm, professional and adept in handling the issues and finding solutions. I interviewed ~15 different contractors before choosing Ricky Can Build It, and I'd happily make the same choice again and work with Ricky on any future project. He wasn't the cheapest option, but his pricing was very competitive and the work is a step above most of the other work I've seen. I only spoke with one contractor who I believe would have provided a higher quality end product, and his pricing was 30-40% higher. One of the things I appreciated most during the project is how dependable Ricky's team is. They were here every morning at 7 a.m., 5 or 6 days a week. They only missed one day from start to finish, and that was because of an emergency on another project--a roof had to get finished before a big storm came through. I've watched many other neighbors' projects halt for days or weeks at a time because a contractor has trouble lining up the right people. Not Ricky Can Build It -- he's the most dependable contractor I've ever worked with! We're 15 months out from the end of the project, and have been incredibly happy with the outcome and the build quality, as well as the follow up offered. Ricky has sent members of his team out on several occasions to address minor issues. He stands by his work. I will continue to enthusiastically recommend Ricky Can Build It to friends and neighbors. I believe every person in NoVA who is considering a home renovation project should talk with Ricky before starting their project! read more

Ricky and his team are awesome. The communication was excellent from beginning to end. We had some issues regarding some permits, and Ricky made sure to keep us informed throughout the process. The team showed up on time every day and it was obvious that they were working hard every minute of the day. The final product was beautiful and we feel we receive a great value. read more

Description of work: 1950's rambler complete kitchen remodel, remove load bearing walls and add beam, remodel bathroom, new exterior patio door, new roof, floating dormer, added front porch with gable roof addition, new Hardie siding. Ricky Can Build It (RCBI) does great work. Prompt, professional, accurate, knowledgeable is how I would describe RCBI overall. We actually started communicating with the owner, aptly named Ricky, while I was overseas and he was still willing to discuss our project. Ricky met or came in under all of his quotes. I also feel he is almost a construction savant, I've never met someone that can do calculations in his head and just know random construction facts like he does, it's rather impressive. It's amazing how he can process all of the information. I also appreciated that the large majority of his crew, as he states on his site, are direct employees and not temp or subs, and all have their expertise and certifications, such as plumbing, electrical, etc. He demands a lot from his employees and I feel they deliver and are treated well for it. The crews were always friendly and tidy and I never once saw an issue where I thought they were cutting corners. On the contrary, the RCBI crew ensured to do all of the work to the highest standards. Yes, I'm giving them 5 stars. That doesn't mean our process went perfectly or there weren't any hiccups, it's more of a reflection on how Ricky handled those issues and the mutually decided upon outcome that we, as homeowners, came away from feeling we had full understanding. Any remodel process has the potential to come with issues, sometimes massive, so just be aware that Ricky tends to deal with them quickly and professionally, giving you several options if possible. Also, Ricky can be quite busy and I don't think he has an administrative assistant. While he is very responsive to phone/email/text, and when you are dealing with his company you are actually dealing with the owner, I think Ricky could benefit from some administrative support. This could be remedied as of now, I'm not sure. Also, as with many general contractors, RCBI takes on a lot of work and sometimes aren't able to show up to work on your job because of some logistical issues with another job. That's just how it seems to work with smaller companies so be aware you may not have a crew at your house 100% of the time every day until the job is complete, but he tries his best to not let this happen and communicates well when it does. So, I highly recommend Ricky Can Build It. You will absolutely get your money's worth, especially in the N.Va. region and you can know the work will indeed be completed correctly. read more

I had these guys renovate the master bathroom of my condo. They came in at a great price, finished the job on time and on budget, and I couldn't be happier with the end result. During the job they kept me informed of their progress and any issues that required my attention. They worked with me to finalize the bathroom design and made suggestions that I didn't think was possible within my budget, but they pulled it off beautifully. A couple of small issues came up at the end of the project and Ricky's team was flexible enough to get them fixed quickly without additional cost. I'll definitely keep these guys in mind for my next renovation project. read more

His attitude and professionalism is above and beyond what I expected from a contractor. I extremely recommend using Ricky for any home renovation as he truly cares about his quality of work. Ricky-Can-Build-It recently did a complete renovation of our master bathroom and powder room. To say that we are pleased with their work is an understatement. From the initial meeting with the company owner to the final clean up once the project was completed, everything was accomplished in an outstanding manner...exceeding our expectations. Ricky is an amazing company owner, a great communicator and highly adept at problem solving. Additionally, his willingness to accompany us and provide his expertise during the selection of the major items, i.e. floor & wall tile, countertop, tub and fixtures was extremely helpful and integral to the success of this project. Ricky gave us several options on each detail of the project while providing the pros and cons of each. His crews were friendly, professional and highly skilled. Painting, electrical work (including a complete upgrade/replacement of our electrical fuse box), floor and wall tile removal and installation, cabinetry, it was ALL done with incredible attention to detail. If you're in the market for any type of home remodel project, you owe it to yourself to allow this company an opportunity to provide you with an estimate. I'm betting you won't be disappointed. Last year Ricky completed the building of our mid-century modern addition. This addition included a dining room and sun room with high ceilings and a unique corner window obtained from Canada, a new master bathroom, bedroom, a completely gutted kitchen remodel and carport restructure and remodel. The results of the work done by Ricky and his crew on our mid-century modern addition were completely fantastic! We have had folks in the neighborhood come by and ask us who was the contractor was. We have heartily recommended Ricky Can Build It to anyone who asks. We also had an architect stop by and take photos of our addition for his future designs. A little history: In 2017, before we had heard of Ricky Can Build It, my wife who is a certified interior designer, came up with a interior and exterior addition design that would compliment our mid-century modern home and increase its curb appeal. We signed up with a licensed Virginia Class A general contractor who had a good and long track record. In the middle of our project, the contractor decided to fall apart and have his contactor license revoked. He left us in the middle of the summer which turned into winter with a plywood wall and an unsafe and unstable structure. After getting burned and in a panic to salvage our project and protect our home, we shopped for a contractor that could complete the project and help get us out of this mess! One day while it was raining, we noticed a ceiling/roof leak in the older part of the house and looked in the attic and noticed that the exhaust flue had been disconnected by the previous contractor and was venting into the attic, which was creating a life-safety situation and putting my family in danger. Ricky, to his credit, sent over his HVAC contractor to fix this dangerous situation and did so even before we had even signed our contract. This speaks volumes about the kind of person Ricky is and his high integrity and professionalism. We will be forever grateful to Ricky and his crew. My only regret is that we didn't find Ricky sooner and have him be our general contractor from the beginning. Even though he didn't charge us for design work because we had already done the design before he took over the project, he added some outstanding design ideas that were implemented during the construction. In addition, he deftly negotiated the red tape that existed with the county and the inspectors who often can change their minds. I honestly don't believe any other contractor in the area other than Ricky could have taken over and completed this project so successfully. We checked the permit status of other projects that Ricky had done and noticed that his projects were completed in a very timely fashion especially compared to other general contractors. Based upon my observations of Ricky and his crew, I believe the keys to Ricky's success and the fact that he can complete construction projects so professionally and at a fair price, is that he employs his own professional crews full-time year round. He doesn't have to rely on sub-contractors who may drag a project on causing delays and increasing costs. Also, I observed how professional he and his crew is. They have their own neat and clean vehicles, wear uniforms and show up in a timely and consistent fashion. They took care of business! I also noticed how well he treats his crew. For example, he invites them and pays them to attend a monthly breakfast. The crews appreciate the full-time work year round which I believe contributes to their professionalism which is passed on to the homeowner. Another area where Ricky Can Build It shined was with the one-year warranty. With a special shout out to Dave F., who was timely, professional and responsive at all times to fix the little items that always show up during the settling of a new addition during the warranty period. Thanks again to Ricky and his crew! We will be forever grateful. read more

A tremendous job on a complete kitchen remodel from start to finish. After mulling over contractors for weeks through reviews and recommendations and five interviews with various companies, I chose Ricky because I was impressed with the plan that he presented and confidence that he could make our vision, not just happen, but could make it even better. That and the fact that his estimate was the most reasonable, and he promised to do his best to keep on budget. Work began even earlier than was first planned, and completed in the time that Ricky promised. He has a superior, professional crew that arrived on time every single day and were nothing but polite, respectful, and hard working. Ricky himself is very accommodating and easy to work with, as small hiccups would arise during the process and Ricky quickly resolved whatever needed done. He also provided an appliance company from which we could order the appliances that we needed at a much lower cost than retail. He also accompanied me to pick out tile, and granite countertops. This was my first remodel, and Ricky guided me through like no other. What seemed like what would be a huge, stressful project initially, ended up being a very satisfying experience, thanks to Ricky and his crew. The project DID end up even better than my original vision. The new kitchen and appliances were really put to the test for Thanksgiving, where everything done was proven to be as functional as it is beautiful. In summary, project started and completed on time. Crew was hard working and cleaned up daily. Workmanship at the highest level. Project completed within budget. Happy Happy Client. read more

We worked with Ricky to renovate two bathrooms (master and guest) and could not be happier with the results! From start to finish, working with Ricky was a great experience. Ricky was responsive, straightforward, and helpful, and he truly has an encyclopedic knowledge of his craft. He was also one of the only contractors we spoke to who gave us total creative flexibility to choose the designs we wanted - he listened, gave helpful suggestions, and then he made it all happen. We are also thrilled with his team; they were always on time, professional, and friendly - and the quality of their work is outstanding. I can't say enough good things about them/how our bathrooms turned out. Highly recommend and would absolutely work with them again! read more

Ricky did a great job with his crew. They completed all tasks on time and they always kept attention to detail.

Ricky Can Built It was the general contractor for our kitchen remodel. Ricky and his crew did an excellent job and we are very pleased with the final product. Among their most positive qualities are the pride in their work and attention to detail - they work hard to get the little things right that make a difference between excellent work and just a good job. In addition, the cost was very reasonable, Ricky can provide good design ideas and help procuring material at a reasonable cost, and if his workers run into a problem, they will present alternative solutions and let you decide which way to go (we have had other contractors who assume they know best, and could care less whether you are happy with their solution). We certainly would hire Ricky again and strongly recommend that you consider him for your next remodeling project. read more

Ricky was wonderful. He responded right away to my calls and was very patient throughout the process. He helped me with selecting the tiles and all items for the bathroom. We were offered 2 options: 1- Ricky responsible for labor and materials, 2- Ricky only responsible for labor. We choose to buy all materials, and he helped us with getting the discounted price. Ricky wanted to do things right. He was honest and will tell you what is needed to make the outcome look good. Ricky didn't do much hand on work for the job at my bathroom but he was there every time when needed him. Peter was the main person who did the work for my project. Peter was very nice and very careful with his work. He took time to do his work right and make it beautiful. I definitely recommend to go with Ricky Can Buit It! read more

I originally contacted Ricky to do some odd jobs around my house. He showed up when expected and spent time going through each task and telling me what he felt needed to be done. I was given an estimate the same day and even though he ran into a few unexpected issues he didn't go over the price he quoted me. I then had him retile my basement downstairs and reface my fireplace. He gave me an estimate for both jobs and again, even though he ran into some issues, he stayed within the quote he gave me. He was very innovative in coming up with solutions to any situation he was faced with. He also was very good at keeping in touch with me on the progress of getting the work done. He wants to make the customer happy and he will do whatever it takes to do that. He and his team are friendly and courteous. I would recommend Ricky for any job that needs to be done around your house. read more

Ricky and his crew did an amazing job with our kitchen renovation. We relocated a powder room and updated our family room as well. The work went smoothly and I was so impressed that each member of his crew was professional, talented, and truly cared about delivering a quality product. Our kitchen and family room were completely gutted, Ricky designed a kitchen for me and walked me through many iterations of the design to make it beautiful and functional. We sat down at our kitchen table and went through what each cabinet should do, what we needed it to do, what we hoped it could do, and what would be the most aesthetically pleasing way to accomplish it. At the renovations end, we could not be more pleased. Not only did we stay right on budget, they even finished the work a few days early even though we added additional work to the scope. Ricky and his team have are so careful and thoughtful and thorough with each aspect of this renovation. We loved working with Ricky and I can't wait to have him back to renovate the rest of the house! read more

When i do business with a contractor or anyone for that matter, I look for 3 things right off the bat: Abilty to do the work well and set the right expectations as far as the scope of the work, great organization and professionalism, and full communication throughout the process. My wife and i bought a house that needed a complete bathroom demolition and remodel for which we obtained several estimates including one from Ricky Can Build IT. From the first meeting, Ricky was unmatched with all three marks. He was thorough in evaluating what needed to be done. Explained things that we did not notice or did not know. He asked a multitude of questions and provided suggestions that we had not thought were possible. Even though, we had not yet committed with him, he was very responsive via email, text, and phone. As we decided to move forward, Ricky suggested materials and pointed us to locations where we could chose them at the best value. Ricky and his team showed up on time every day, professional and with impeccable work ethic. They were never late, worked fast, and never cut corners. When unforeseen issues popped up, they provided a solution and fixed them. Ricky never tried to take advantage of the unforeseen issues to charge more. In fact, his team had to complete an additional full day of work due to roadblocks and did not charge us. Our Bathroom project turned out exactly as we wanted. Ricky Can Build It goes above and beyond what i would expect from a contractor. I highly recommend Ricky Can Build It for any project in your home. you won't regret it. read more

Best ever! I recommend Ricky without reservation. I've worked with other contractors but Ricky and his team are the best. The contract was clear and understandable and he sat down with us to patiently read through it and answer questions before we signed. The jobs we contracted for included the following so that it's clear that Ricky can handle a wide range of major jobs: Redo of 1970s master bath to allow my mother to "age in place" as it's called, with plenty of reinforced safety bars and shower options to allow for seated showering, radiant heat under tile floor, mounting of floating vanity with mirror an lighting, removal of wall between dining room and kitchen, installation of new kitchen cabinetry, recessed lighting, granite countertops, iand big modern fans with wall-mounted remote control, even a custom cabinet Ricky built for my mom's newspapers and crossword puzzle books. They removed a non-functioning wood stove and installed a huge new window in its place, redoing the siding and paint so that it looked perfect from the outside, too. They put insulation in two walls in kitchen and family room and drywall looked perfect. The main level of the house was redone from laminate to beautiful maple hardwood and the stairs were also replaced! All the bedrooms got new carpet and all the walls and ceilings were painted beautifully. With the house having been built in the 1970s, electric and plumbing had to be upgraded to meet code. Ricky obtained proper permits from both Fairfax County and Town of Herndon. The same team worked with us throughout the project They showed up daily at 7 am and each day was like Christmas to us because we'd see so much progress. They let us know ahead of time if they would not be coming but that happened only a couple of times, otherwise they kept up the momentum and got the job done without the fits and starts and no-shows that are often the case with contractors I've used in the past. He and his team are skilled, reliable, polite, clean and neat, all around a great pleasure to work with. Ricky made suggestions but was never pushy. My mother, sister, and I ended up adding a whole lot of extra work to the original plan and he took it in stride. Ricky made sure that my 88-year-old mother was comfortable and safe and always able to watch her TV shows well away from the construction area. I wish my daughter would find a guy like Ricky - polite, energetic, straight talking, honest, talented. How's that for praise! To sum it up, we got top quality for fair price. People walk in the house and say, "Ahhhh, it's beautiful!" read more
